Llangadog, Carmarthenshire
This rustic cottage in the Brecon Beacons has far-reaching views, wild landscapes, with no immediate neighbours, and the perfect place to come and get away from it all. Snuggle up by the fire in the snug or gaze upon panoramic views of the Brecon Beacons from the double-height converted barn.
Entering from the front door into the first of two living areas. Snuggle up in an armchair in front of the fire and enjoy a drink before moving over to the rustic dining table to eat together or play family board games. Heading down some steps, there is a stunning full-height living room with large glass sliding doors with far-reaching views. There is a second log burner in this spacious room, along with a wall-mounted TV, and comfortable leather sofas. The living space extends to a mezzanine above the living room where children can play. There is a ground floor double bedroom off the main living room.
The well-stocked kitchen, just off the dining area, has everything you need to cater for your break away. There is a breakfast table in the kitchen and all the mod cons including an espresso machine for ground coffee (not supplied). There is a handy utility room off the kitchen with a washing machine, and a boot room/conservatory for extra storage, and some wellies for guest use. Finishing off the ground floor is the family bathroom with a curved freestanding bath and a large walk-in shower.
The first floor master bedroom has mountain views, with a four-poster bed bed. It benefits from a prive en suite, with a shower over bath and wc.
Externally, there is a large enclosed garden which has fencing, with fields beyond and the rolling countryside with spectacular views. Relax with a book or dine al fresco in the fresh mountain air at one with nature.
Wildhaven is truly the best cottage we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many! The views take your breath away and the cottage itself is large and beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable and the bedding excellent quality. The kitchen is well equipped and both bathrooms luxurious. The Wi-Fi worked well for us, although the television reception was sometimes a little patchy. The microwave made some very odd noises (perhaps the internal light is failing) but still worked when needed. The garden is lovely and although fenced, it is not secure when you have a very determined Cocker Spaniel. There is a rather large hole developing when you turn off the mountain road which may cause problems to some cars. It is genuinely isolated and so peaceful with only the sounds of the local sheep and an early morning wake up call from the crows. Our host was there when needed and it was lovely to get regular texts. We will be back next year and already miss those magnificent views.
Perfect spot to escape the Rat race and appreciate some spectacular star gazing.
A great place to stay in these difficult times. Cottage fantastic, location amazing and we even had a week of warm sunny weather!
