A very typical traditional Peak District cottage with lots of character. Clean (unless you looked behind things) and as-described, however it felt a bit unloved. The front garden could have been really cute but was full of weeds and the back door couldn't be used because wildflowers had grown across it. Only 3 or 4 of each kitchen item provided - cutlery, plates etc - so lots of washing up needed but only one half-sized tea towel was provided. The 'house manual' was out of date on food options (the local pub doesn't serve it any more) and said it had leaflets of things to do but there weren't any. We just looked these up online of course, which was fine, but don't say something and not do it. Please also provide a reading light in the living room. The downstairs in general is quite dark and the soft wall lighting in the living room wasn't suitable for 'task' work or for reading a book on the sofa. Overall we had a pleasant stay, but a few small changes would have made it much better.

I didn't want to get put of the comfy bed but the view. Lovely local pubs with super friendly locals. we offered cooking apples as we returned back after a day's hiking. Westcote Cottage and Bradwell we loved you

Location is very good with a front and back door to the property. Parking is not ideal as you have to potentially play musical parking spaces with other tourists and village residents. The village itself was easy to find and was well facilitated. The bed was very squeaky.

This little cottage is amazing! So cosy with a lot of blankets and candles, it a perfect place to stay for a few days exploring the Peak District

The cottage was nice and clean when we arrived. kitchen had more than enough gear to sort dinners out. parking can be tricky as on some days we had to park a little walk away. no biggie for us but I can imagine others struggling. heating was easy to use and very efficient. the downsides: the mattresses. I could feel the slats and the springs. it's petty, I know but I'm 6ft 3 and 95kg, I need a firm supportive mattress. my friends who tagged along had no comments regarding the mattress but they are of a normal height and weight... As with any village like this, it's full of holiday homes etc. So do not tell the locals you are staying there. The friendliness soon vanishes. if you're taking dogs, keep in mind all of the grass areas are no dog zones. I thought this was really odd. not something I have come across before. overall a nice trip with good pubs, walks and close enough to a city for food shopping I would for sure stay again.

Located in a nice village, walking distance to local pub and shop. The cottage was damp and needs some attention.
