The house and location were amazing. Close walk to the pool and ocean!

The house was very nice, the kitchen was well equipped, and the home was very family and pet friendly. The beds were also very comfortable. The beach access is probably the best I have experienced (without staying directly on the beach) in my 10 years of staying in Destin. Parking, however, was challenging because it is limited to 2 spaces, with the option to purchase additional passes, which we did for our golf cart rental. My sister decided to rent a golf cart last minute, but had to park her primary vehicle with our parents, who were camping in Destin as well. Because there was no visitor parking for our parents, we had to transport them to and from our rental on the few nights we cooked dinner for the family. I gave 5 stars for everything except cleanliness. I deducted a star because the checkout requirements included sweeping all the floors and wiping down all the counters, which was unusual considering we pay a cleaning fee. We always keep host homes tidy during the weeks we rent, and understand the need to start the washing machine, run the dishwasher, and take out all the trash prior to checkout. However, packing up and checking out by 10:00 is rushed enough, and being required to sweep the house or be charged a fine added to our stress that day. If parking wasn’t so challenging, I would stay here again.

Everything about our stay at the Mermaid Cottage was wonderful! The layout of the home is great, plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 kids. The stroll to the beach and pool was so easy. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Beds were great too! We loved it and look forward to planning another trip!

We just wrapped up an amazing week at Mermaid Cottage and honestly, it exceeded every expectation! This charming cottage in the peaceful Beach/Cottage Retreat community felt like a true home away from home from the moment we arrived. The house was spotless upon check-in, everything sparkling clean, well-stocked with kitchen essentials, fresh linens, and thoughtful touches that made settling in effortless. The layout is perfect for families or small groups: comfortable beds, plenty of seating in the living area, and a nice veranda/porch to enjoy morning coffee or evening breezes. Location-wise, it's unbeatable. The beach access is an easy, short walk, and the heated pool and hot tub is centrally located as well. The owners clearly care about their guests, quick communication, great recommendations for local spots, and little details that showed thoughtfulness. We cooked most meals at the house (kitchen has everything you need) and still enjoyed the area's fresh seafood nearby.If you're looking for a cozy, well-maintained beach cottage in Miramar Beach that delivers on comfort, convenience, and that classic Florida coastal charm, Mermaid Cottage is it. We can't wait to return.

Mermaid Cottage is a beautifully decorated home in a great location close to everything. The bedrooms are spacious with plenty of room for your things. The bathroom towels and beach towels are nice and absorbent. I believe it is one of the cleanest houses I’ve ever rented. It is a very comfortable home away from home! I would definitely rent it again.

I was very pleased with the available tools and gadgets in the kitchen as it made meal prep and cooking as easy as my own kitchen! The balcony was a nice spot to sit and read. It was a wonderful place to spend our time!

The house is absolutely beautiful! A very close walk to the beach and our family also loved the pool. The house is well stocked with everything you need to enjoy a week at the beach. Communication was easy, would highly highly recommend!

Mermaid Cottage, is a beautiful house and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The home is located right across from the beach which made the walk over super easy. The pool is fantastic and was kept clean. The community is quiet/safe and dog friendly which we loved! We will definitely look to stay here again!

This house is very nice. It’s well decorated and has many thoughtful touches throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is in good condition and very clean. We especially liked the color coordinated and soft towels and sheets instead of the usual hotel grade scratchy and worn towels we get at other places. The whole house is very clean, warm and inviting. It is a very short walk to the beach, with a convenient private entrance. The supplied beach cart and beach chairs made trips to the beach easy.

We loved our stay at the Mermaid Cottage! It was super clean, comfortable, and had everything we could need. We loved the decorator touches. The design really worked for our group, with a primary suite downstairs and another upstairs, along with a nicely appointed bunk room/bath. The beach was an easy walk, and there was a good walking area for our dogs. We’re planning our next years visit to the Mermaid!
