Waters End Cottage: Lake Michigan Waterfront

We received a less than 72 hr warning that if we didn't arrive with sheets we may be fined an extra cleaning fee on top of the two cleaning fees we paid before even arriving. We then walked into a filthy cabin that had black animal hair all over two white chairs and white hair all over a larger chair. When we went to take pictures as evidence to prove the animal mess wasn't ours, we found the floor was covered in dust and animal hair and dead bugs. It looked like the place hadn't been cleaned in months! After that wonderful discovery we came into a kitchen that was teeming with ants. We dealt with this non-stop during our stay. One of the guests has a special diet due to an autoimmune disorder and there was nowhere safe for their food. We had to repurchase over $70 of safe food for them to eat. In addition to the ants there were earwigs and spiders in the bathroom and bedrooms daily. We had a few ants and earwigs even in our luggage when we got home. They left a single towel and rag per guest for an entire week stay, which is the least important thing but still felt important to mention. The biggest issue is the smell! There was water damage on the doors in the bathroom and what appears to be mold on the wall near the shower. The whole cabin has a musty smell and one bedroom smells moldy. We finally found some of the mold. It was on the headboard! Those who stayed in it were unfortunately sick every morning with a headache.

Quiet end of the street right on the water! Can’t beat the sunrise and wildlife you might see right on the lake. AND—so close to many fun things to do!

The property appeared clean until my wife turned down the bed. What appeared to be droppings were all over the sheets. We called the rental agency immediately. They then contacted a local maintenance guy that was supposed to have done something. This person texted me a while later, apologized and said they would bring mousetraps out in the morning. My wife and I slept on the couch.Upon closer inspection the droppings appeared to be some kind of seed. Regardless, the bedding was clearly not changed from the previous guest,there was no effort to clean the mess, no laundry on site, no spare sheets and no effort to resolve the complaint. I had put off writing a review in hopes that someone would contact me with an offer of a discounted rate or at least an apology. Sadly that didnt happen.

Nice spot at the end of the road. Quiet and peaceful. The house was clean and comfortable, and the host was very responsive. The people before us left coffee grounds in the maker which got moldy - kinda gross, but not the end of the world.

Clean place in a quiet part of Door County

We enjoyed our stay at Waters End Cottage. We did email the rental company about leftover linens sitting out & ants on countertops. They were very responsive and appreciative of our email. We would stay here again with our pets!

RELAXING

Great location, close to sister bay. The house is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of trees and a firepit close to the water. The house isnt super fancy but it was perfect for our needs. Comfortable beds and cozy indoor and outdoor seating.

Very clean and cute house! In a nice quiet area but a short drive from all of the cute towns in door county!

Stay was wonderful really enjoyed the sunrise. Cabin was nice and clean and very quiet and peaceful. Could see the big dipper as big as can be right outside the picture windows. We would definitely come back.
