Harpswell, Maine
Step out of the stress of everyday life and into this little bit of paradise. This family owned cottage is part of a larger home, located at the end of a peninsula, with water views from most rooms. A self contained, 882 square foot, two level apartment with private entrances, is the perfect solution to expensive rentals not easily afforded during the present economic climate.
Casually elegant, this recently renovated 1927 summer home is a blend of old world charm and modern conveniences. Each bedroom is lined with windows, affording views of passing lobster boats, changing tides, and gorgeous sunsets. An open concept living area and kitchenette provide all the conveniences necessary for comfortable living.
You can spend time sitting on the deck, overlooking the rocky Maine shore, or hop in the car and drive to nearby Boothbay Harbor, Old Orchard Beach, the outlet town of Freeport, or Pemaquid Point. In close proximity there are many venues for kayaking, boating, whale watches, and excursions, so you can be as busy as you please, or just idle, enjoying the cool summer breezes and breath taking water views.
So, come and see us. Take a deep breath of the fresh clean Maine air. Walk the quiet, picturesque streets, lined with beautiful old family homes, eat lots of lobster and once again, enjoy life. You deserve it!

Very nice place in an excellent setting
Beautiful area. Quaint cottage. Loved watching the tide come in and recede. About 50 minute drive to Portland. Quiet and beautiful nature all around this property.
This little cottage is awesome. It is well outfitted with all you need. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The sofa bed in the living room not so much but no sofabeds are very comfy. My husband was sick so I let him have the bedroom for a coupe of days. The view is amazing! You are literally steps from the ocean. The property is a little more remote than I expected. We arrived after dark in the rain and it felt like we were at the end of the earth, but daylight revealed lots of neighbors. You go to the end of the hard road and go 3 miles or so further on a private gravel road that looks like a driveway. There is Uncle Pete's convenience store a few miles up the hard road but you might want to stop for groceries in the city. There was a coffee maker and a Keurig type. There was some decaf Folgers in the cabinet and filters but no pods so you might want to bring your own. The place was absolutely spotless with plenty of extra paper products. The caretakers Barb and Ed were not onsite 24/7 but they lived down the road and were there every day. They were AWESOME, extremely friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. This is great place to rest, relax and recover in your own personal cottage by the sea. We highly recommend it.
The views were amazing! We felt so comfortable and happy with the location. The only downside might be that the water was very hard. Otherwise, it was a great location and we made some beautiful family memories.
Cozy bungalow in an absolutely stunning location. The views from the windows and back yard and gorgeous. The proximity to Pott's Point made for great walks and tide pooling. Mattresses are harder than what we are accustomed to but were manageable for our short stay.
The location was wonderful. The place itself was very dated and bed mattresses were very uncomfortable. I felt as though there was little privacy and most of the blinds were broken. It was a difficult check in, most of the people on the property where very confused and little help. We had to receive help from the other couple staying there to get in. They did supply most of the stuff we could need in the house. Location was fantastic and beautiful, nice relaxing area. We really enjoyed our stay, just not the nicest place.
We absolutely loved our stay at Margaret’s / Beth’s! Amazing hosts - you couldn’t ask for a better location. We will be back!
Enjoyed our stay. The view of the house from the front is smaller looking than picture. Back of house looks just like pictures. Great view. Excellent place to sit to watch the sun come down. Inside house is great. Could use some air fresheners.
The property we rented for a week was exactly as described on the Vrbo listing. Lovely views from everywhere inside and outside. Indeed gorgeous sunsets or beautiful gray skies. Harpswell is a quiet, authentic and beautiful peninsula. We really enjoy our experience.
We genuinely enjoyed our stay in the comfortable and quaint home by the water! The only extra amenities I would have appreciated were shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and coffee creamer to be included considering the price of the rental. Thank you!
Harpswell is a small community at the end of a peninsula. This property is two houses from the end of the road and right on the water. You can walk down to the end of the road and be surrounded on three sides by water. The lodgings were comfortable, clean and peaceful. Don't forget to check out the amazing breakfast sandwiches at Uncle Pete's Community Market on Harpswell Neck Road.
Loved our stay here on beautiful bay watching the boats coming and going . Did catch one awesome sunset inspite of mostly cloudy weather. Accomodations very comfortable . Nice peaceful stroll to Potts point . Thanks Beth and Sabrina . Hope to do it again .
Was a great place for friends to relax and reconnect
This property is very secluded and quiet. The area is very relaxing.
Quaint little cottage attached to the main house was clean & comfortable.
The location of this rental can't be beat. The views were so amazing that we ended up eating in for most of our meals, in fact the suggestion our hosts made, for lobster rolls at Gurnet trading became our go-to for many meals, great scallops too! We enjoyed a day in Brunswick and lots of time on Bailey Island, the Giant Stairs was a beautiful walk. Wish we had booked a boat tour of the area in advance as all were booked up, but we'll be back.
This was my third time staying here as it's such a perfect spot, especially gazing at the sunsets while gently rocking in the rocking chairs! So peaceful and relaxing.
This is a great spot for a couple or a small family and is in a special quiet place with other cottages. The owners were on site - not intrusive, very helpful. This not a very fancy place. It was comfortable and well equipped. The queen bed is fine, and with windows looking out on the bay, a great place of wake up to the sound of waves. The seating consists of a sofa and rocking chair with a dining table for 4 plus a screened in area for dining or sitting as well. It is comfortable to hangout if the weather is not cooperating. You are about 15 miles from Brunswick. There is a small convenience store close by for essentials and there are a couple of restaurants across the bay. Pammy’s Ice Cream is worth at least one stop. Harpswell has a nice selections of hikes nearby the cottage. The bay looks great for kayaking if you are into that. The sunsets are fantastic from the chairs on the sea wall. It is short walk to the tiny Potts Point Preserve which is worth visiting more than once. We rarely stay at the same VRBO more than once but I think we will be back to this one.
Communication and Check in was seamless. The location was perfect for us -- we needed to be able to get to Brunswick easily for a weekend-full of Bowdoin College graduation events, and we also wanted easy access to water and to water views when we were not otherwise in Brunswick. The cottage is simple and comfortable with stunning ocean and sunset views from both bedrooms. The property owners live in the main house and are delightful and accommodating. We will be back.
