Waterfront Downeast Retreat on Pigeon Hill Rd in Steuben

Amazing location! The serene beach view can be enjoyed from the dinning room or the porch, with beach access just a few steps away. The house is beautifully designed with thoughtful details throughout. The kitchen is well stocked for home-cooked meals, though we opted to dine out during our short stay.The master bedroom was cozy and comfortable, and the upstairs seating area easily converted into sleeping futons for our daughters. Plenty of pillows and blankets were provided, and the shower had strong hot water.The highlight of our stay was the host’s hospitality. Ray was communicative, gracious, and full of great recommendations that made our trip even more special—from hiking and restaurants to ice cream stops and scenic drives.We’ve visited Acadia many times, but this trip helped us discover Steuben as a true hidden gem. We’ll definitely be back!

a pet friendly home near the waterfront. house was super clean. waterviews were great. nice area to walk dogs. hiking trails nearby. we had a restful time away.the best part was the hummingbirds feeding in the back garden area. very cool! thank you for a great stay!

The property and its location are fabulous. Our host Ray, was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. He is a long time “Mainer” and a wealth of information. The location of this property is right on the water and walking distance to a terrific nature preserve. If peace and quiet, and nature are your thing, this is your place!

The Downeast retreat is our favorite vacation spot, a wonderful place to recharge. We're frequent visitors. Ray & Jo are the best too!

Lovely, quiet spot with beautiful view of the water, especially from the breakfast nook/porch. There's another deck facing the woods next to the house. Other quiet spots to relax include a reader's nook by a window, a futon upstairs with an ocean view, and another futon with a TV in case you need it. The house is immaculate, and has everything you'll need, an outdoor grill, blowdryer, etc. Owner, Ray, came to chat after we arrived and had great recommendations for places to go and things to do nearby. We loved the hikes up Pigeon Hill and in the Maine Coastal Islands National Preserve, both within a mile or so. Our 2 dogs were welcomed and loved the walkable area. We saw many deer, rabbits, eagles, 1 seal, many birds.

We had a wonderful getaway at this very cute cottage! Ray was so nice to deal with. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay this is for you!!

This cottage was absolutely perfect for our honeymoon! It was clean, well stocked, and in a fantastic location. We loved the fall foliage, the nearby trails, and the proximity to the harbor. Ray was the ideal host with recommendations of places to go and restaurants to visit. We hope to come back in the future for an anniversary trip!

Peaceful, organic feel of lovely home overlooking Pigeon Hill Bay. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, and fantastic setting. We were able to walk to great hiking locations, stroll by the bay, and watch sunrises. Highly recommended!!

This home is both beautiful and comfortable, and the owners could not be nicer. The best surprise is that the hiking trails just minutes from the house are wonderful. No need to drive to Acadia for beautiful views and a bit of a challenge if one wants that. The upstairs of the house is more beautiful in person than the photos.
