Rock Stream, New York
Great Vintage Camp with a spectacular view of Seneca Lake. The cottage is located in a private forest like setting overlooking Seneca Lake. From your cottage porch listen to the lapping of the lake and the breeze rustling through the pines. Take a short stroll down the lane to your priviate beach that comes equipped with kyakas, canoe and fire pit. The beach is the perfect place to hang out with family and friends while roasting marshmallows and telling tales. Walk out onto the dock that comes complete with chairs, umbrella and a mesmerizing view. The dock is a great place for an afternoon of kicking back, reading, sunning, sipping wine or a casual afternoon swim. Woodland's Vintage Camp is a totally great place to enjoy your vacation on Seneca Lake. Also check our Rose Hill Guest Quarters (VRBO #589749) in the Village of Watkins Glen for extra guest or if you need to be closer to the village and the racetrack.

'At The Lake We Forget To Count The Days'
This is a lovely getaway. We spent most of our waking hours at the cabin on the porch which has a fabulous view overlooking Seneca Lake and the dock/beach area. I suspect the cabin is from the 1920s and it's been updated with indoor plumbing, a nice kitchen and a washer and dryer on the small back porch. Nights were comfortable, except for one night when the fans were needed in the bedrooms. However, several weeks before temperatures were in the 80's and 90's and that would have been challenging as the cabin has only one window air conditioner on the first floor. The only bathroom is on the first floor, too. A bit of a challenge for those of us who have to visit the facilities at night. Overall, the Woodland cabin is a charming place well situated both on the lake and in proximity to Watkins Glen, wineries and other amenities. I defintely hope to return.
We really enjoyed being right on the lake! Screened porch was lovely to spend time looking over the lake. We all enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing right off the property. The dock with Adirondack chairs on the water was so pleasant to sit in and enjoy the lake breeze. House was well stocked with everything we needed and bonus goodies for our stay. We really appreciated it being pet friendly as well! Wineries and restaurants all less than 15 minutes away.
Second year at wonderfully comfortable and well appointed retreat. Dock was lovely for relaxing, reading and drinks. Lakeshore front provided fire pit for evening entertainment and kayaks for exploring the shoreline. Coffee in the morning and great dinners on the elevated screened-in porch over looking the lake was the perfect beginning and end to the day. Theresa is a great host! Woodland Cottage is in a private but convenient location, so easy to explore the area!
We stayed for just short of a week and had a wonderful time. The house is spacious, comfy, well-stocked, and has the real feeling of a genuine vintage lakehouse. It is clear how loved and looked after the place has been by the owners and family. The beach area is big, with a dock that includes a roof for shade. The two kayaks and canoe were in great shape and so fun. It was a very peaceful part of the lake, even on Saturday. We are already planning our return next summer!
Very relaxing stay
We loved the place and location! The amenities left for us was a plus. Loved the ingenuity of the light fixtures and the knick-knacks scattered around the interior (seems like every day I noticed something new). Having the double doors open to the screened in porch made the living room seem like part of the outside! This may sound stupid but having access to Windex and paper towels to constantly clean my windshield was a huge help! I went to 6 different gas stations in NY and they all have squeegies but not a single one had cleaner to use. We did joke around about having access to a golf cart to travel from the house to the dock...LOL! Only potential downside would be lack of AC upstairs if staying during a heatwave; we were very fortunate in that it cooled down every evening albeit one night was a bit uncomfortable. Location was very convenient for all the things we did.
The property was amazing. The house was right on the lake. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the dock and in the evening around the firepit. The property was in a great location to take in all that Watkins Glenn had to offer and to visit many of the wineries. I would definitely highly recommend it and I certainly plan to go back there again.
Perfect spot by the lake. Loved the porch for relaxing with morning coffee and taking in the view and wildlife. Dock great for relaxing and catching some sun rays. 10 min from Watkins Glen and shopping for any necessities and restaurants. 2 kayaks and canoe were a nice bonus. House nicely stocked and all amenities needed. I would not hesitate to come back.
We had a lovely time at the Rock Stream cottage. There is a wonderful screened-in porch with a fabulous view of the lake to read, relax, eat, chat. Lots of farm stands nearby for fresh fruits and veggies and the kitchen was well-equipped for daily cooking. It was a perfect end-of-summer retreat!
I grew up with a family cottage on Seneca lake. I spent every weekend there as a kid. The family sold it a long time ago so my kids never got to experience what that was like. This cottage had all of my favorite memories. A big private beach, a great dock to hang out on, cool lake breezes blowing through the bedroom. The cottage was the perfect combination of rustic and modern. A nice little kitchen and bead board on the ceiling. The front porch is great. High above the lake and floor to ceiling screens. We ate every meal out there. Dinners on the porch, cocktails on the dock, and fires on the beach. It was the perfect summer vacation. Thank you for sharing your special please with us.
