Private Cottage-style home with yard about 15 houses from the beach!
This property has provided lodging to amazing guests since the 40's. Gregory Peck and other movie stars were rumored to stay in these cottages while in town for performances at the La Jolla Playhouse. Some say their presence left the home charmed.
This 1920's crafstman-style home with it's little yard is a true gem. As a vintage home in a relatively quiet neighborhood, it's perfect for guests wanting more tranquility than the party-heavy areas of SD. E
njoy indoor or outdoor dining. The vintage kitchen has what you need to prepare meals from scratch including a spice rack and condiments. The outdoor and indoor tables each seat four.
The cozy living room has a soft, down-stuffed sofa that can seat 2 adults and 2 little kids. This cozy little room is most comfortable when the sofa bed is in couch position, however, if you need a 3rd bed, the Queen sofa bed is great for lightweight adults and kids.
Our 2-bedroom/ 1 bath offers the following:
-Main bedroom with queen bed, drawers, closet, a window, access to the bathroom. Villa Tranquila has a second entrance to bathroom via the mudroom off the kitchen. It has an air conditioner for Summer. Other times of year, the home stays quite comfortable with natural ventilation.

Thank You For Booking with us!
PS this is an older, humble pet-friendly home. It is not high-end. It would be too expensive for pet owners to be responsible for pet-related wear in an upgraded space. Surfaces guests are expected to touch are kept clean and as fur-free and sand-free as is practicable for our low cleaning price. Please give us adequate notice if you want a corona-virus-deactivating hypochlorous acid sanitizing process ($95 paid direct to the provider), and/or a deep clean, (deep clean is about $80 additional but we need to ask the available cleaners before we quote). If you don't arrange deep-clean, expect a bit of stray sand and fur. Lastly, because all of our pest control is non-toxic to be pet-safe it may take a little longer to work. If you aren't comfortable with seeing an occasional bug, please don't book this home. All mattresses and sofas have a non-toxic insect control product added to prevent bed bugs. In 25 years of renting, we have never had an issue with those buggers (thankfully). We also ask that pets be kept clean and be on flea control (for a non-toxic option, look into Lufenuron).
Close to the beach and got to have our dog stay there too
Location is good however house is very old and appears to not have been updated in decades. House is very small and unfortunately provided for an unpleasant experience.
We loved the house itself and the character. One of the reasons we rented this particular place is because of our dogs. The advertisement showed a small side yard with grass, a BBQ grill, a small dining table and a fenced yard. When we arrived we were very disappointed to see grass that was 1.5- 2 feet tall, multiple large weeds growing and some were 6 ft tall (used my height as a reference) and the weeds could be seen over the fence line. The fence was rotted and falling apart. We could not access the BBQ or the the table, nor could we sit out in the yard. Our dogs had minimal safe space to run and use the bathroom. The back patio had pavers and ivy/ vine growth which was fine excpet for the fact that there were building materials covered by a tarp, yard debris, beach items, etc. It was also concerning that the neighboring rental space had door/ gate access (which they used) to our patio space which again was unsafe for our dogs and intrusive upon out privacy. Again, we loved the house and the character and will say give this place a try with exception of the yard/ patio space.
We needed a place with an enclosed backyard for our small dog. Backyard was the perfect size, but needed some cleaning up. (Huge weeds and the palm tree leaves needed to be cut. Had to duck under the leaves to clean up after our dog.) Only used the microwave and fridge in the kitchen since we brought our own coffee maker, but it appeared well stocked. Shower water pressure is very low, but the hand held nozzle helped tremendously. Overall, we had a good stay and Nick was very nice and let us check in early. Neighborhood was quiet which we liked and parking on the street worked out fine. The price was perfect for our short stay.
The cottage is adorable and comfortable. We just wish the little yard had been better taken care of; lots of tall weeds and unmoved grass. But better than a suite at a hotel.
The beach cottage was lovely and clean and provided pots and pans and all we needed for a lovely stay with family.
Great experience. Would rent again
Loved the location of this place. Was very cozy. I would stay here again.
