Taylor, Mississippi
Nestled behind Taylor Inn and surrounded by a flourishing garden and chicken coop, the Chicken House is an ideal rural get away. This “tiny home” is a quaint, rustic cottage where you’re sure to feel welcome. Sneaking away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Chicken House atmosphere provides visitors with an element of slow country livin’. There is an AppleTV in the Chicken House but no cable. However there is DishTV in the next door Taylor Inn which visitors to the Chicken House are welcome to use. But the owners highly recommend watching "Chicken TV" instead... also know as feeding time... every afternoon in the yard.
The Chicken House is located on the grounds of Taylor Inn, a five room Inn recently restored and reopened. The roles of this house have changed over the past century or so, but have not strayed away from welcoming both visitors and locals with a level of hospitality that cannot be achieved without a true desire to showcase a love for this community. The repurposed building that is now Taylor Inn holds fast to the same purpose. Reservations and more info available at Taylor-Inn.com.
Next door, The Big Truck Theater over the years has gained local fans among the natives of the surrounding areas. Located right behind Taylor Inn, Big Truck Theater is not your average barn that one might see scattered throughout the area of Taylor. The barn, constructed of pine lumber is the perfect setting for your next special event and centers around a curtained stage that features the famous flat bed truck as an extension.
We rented the chickenhouse with the Taylor Inn to accommodate all of our family. It is just a few steps away from the Inn. The decorations are perfect. The host is awesome. We enjoyed our weekend in Taylor celebrating the marriage of our cousin. The cottage is unique, the kids loved the loft area!
This is my second time to stay in the Chicken House and I loved it equally as much! The first time I came with girlfriends to go to double Dekker art festival this time I came with my family to go to my nieces wedding. I love everything about it! From the decor, right down to the chickens!
Paige was a great host and very detailed in her information prior to our arrival. The house was splendid and the town of Taylor has a great coffee shop and some great restaurants. What a gem of a place and less than 15 minutes to Oxford. Really beautiful and relaxing weekend!
This was a perfect weekend getaway spot. The home was rustic and clean. The chickens nearby were fun to watch from the porch. There are also two very good restaurants within walking distance.
We love everything about The chicken house. I can’t rate it any higher than a five. We named the rooster Henry and it’s seems chickens are in our future Ideal location to be across from Taylor Grocery and just down street from Plein Aire Just enough distance from craziness of Oxford on a busy weekend. Loved the I erior furnishings.
Cabin was just as cute as in the pictures. Everything we needed was available and the hostess was gracious and charming. Would definitely stay here again.
This was our second time to stay at this property and we were just as happy with it as our first stay. You feel like you are staying at a cabin in the woods. It is the perfect place to unwind and relax and disconnect!
It was wonderful. My family enjoyed the place. It was clean and quaint.
We loved our stay here, and the hosts made sure we had everything we needed. You’ll love sitting on the porch swing or having meals at the large outdoor table. Also, make sure to enjoy walking to Lost Dog Coffee, Grit (upscale dining), and Taylor Grocery (for a true Mississippi fried catfish experience. We will definitely be back.
Loved our stay! Property was unique and perfect for a game weekend. Just was responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend.
