Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.

Town: Tresillian is nestled in mid Cornwall, three miles east of Truro. Within the village is a small number of older buildings including a Grade II listed thatched Inn. Our visit was fraught with issues as soon as we opened the door on the first day of a 5-day stay. Let me say that most of our issues stem from lack of communication between the property managers and the owner but nonetheless, it was one problem after another: faulty beeping fire alarms, lack of electricity through the outlets which meant no heat or hot water, stove, or internet access for 36 hours. We had to go out to buy a coffee pot, usable frying pans since what was supplied was ancient (and probably toxic) Teflon, and toilet paper. The emergency number given to us by Sykes Cottages sent us on a goose chase through their automated systems which apparently was not open over the weekend. WHAT?! We had no response to our issues for 36 hours until finally one of the owner's maintenance people came to address our problems. This is not what a holiday stay should be, and we were very disappointed with what looks on paper to be a lovely property.

We were a group of family and friends who wanted to stay together for a long weekend whilst attending the Falmouth sea shanty concert. We were blessed with excellent weather so we had BBQs every evening. All in all an excellent place to stay.
