Stayed Oct 3, 2025We stayed for a long weekend to visit nearby parks and snorkel with manatees. The cottage is in a great location, about 10 minutes to Crystal River and 10 minutes to the Homosassa Wildlife Refuge (other direction). The owners gave us very specific directions and parking instructions (it could have been tricky to find without them). The cottage is very charming, kind of Funky Old Florida Bohemian. Lots of whimsy, very welcoming. The outdoors area is great, very peaceful sitting by the water and having morning coffee. If you're looking for something that is super modern and has a full kitchen this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for something off the beaten path with tons of character and charm, this is it!

Stayed May 10, 2025There are so many lovely things to say about this property. Quiet, beautiful and the owner has added so many small touches that you feel like a guest in their home! It rained the whole time we visited, so we did not get to use the Kayaks, but we will be back next year and hope for better weather. Can't wait to explore this area more! Thank you for a great weekend !

Stayed Feb 22, 2025Tranquil is an apt description of this property. The cottage itself is charming, and the neighborhood is peaceful. The back door of the cottage opens onto a patio and then a canal. The great thing about this canal is that there is forest on the other side of the water. The water is clear. The mullets were easy to see (but harder to catch). It was the perfect two night getaway for us.

Stayed Jun 26, 2023An unexpected beauty! Cottage sits on corner of two small spring fed rivers. Quiet, Serene, Heaven! We had everything we needed, and if we did need something, we just called and owners brought to us. Pedal Boat, kayaks, canoe, fishing gear ready for us to explore the rivers (grilled Blue Catfish! yummy). We actually found an open gurgling spring! Our last day, we watched a 3 foot juvenile gator swim in front of us. it kept coming back and watching us as we watched it! There is an Emu farm at entrance of lake (we took canoe to get there) We never felt threatened by the wildlife, although I am positive there are some big gators around. This place is PERFECT for couples! I consider it extremely romantic. We usually do not ever return to same place twice. However, we are anxious to return here!

We took the canoe (provided) down the canal to open waters where we watched sunset over the water. Many kayak opportunities close by.

The emu farm right down the river was neat to see everyday on our adventures. So quiet and relaxing but everything you need within a few minute drive. Debra and Dennis were awesome and responsive. Very clean place and decorated very cute! Would highly recommend! Explored all the local parks and trails. The Biscuit Barn and the Freezer are places to eat that you don't want to miss!

Stayed May 3, 2026We loved our stay! The hosts are soooo welcoming and helpful. I'm sure I have never been greeted by handwritten letter from the hosts with places to go, eat, and shop. They check in with us and suggested outings. The house is so cute and perfect for us for this experience. Yes, sitting in the backyard at night by the river is a bit like being in Jurassic Park with the sounds and movements of nature all around, but that's exactly what you get and want with a Crystal River experience. Thank you! We hope to be back. Best wishes to our hosts!

Stayed Apr 21, 2026This cute cottage was everything we hoped for and more! Our favorite part was watching the sea otters swim by. They have kayaks that we used to paddle down Margarita Grill. We docked the kayaks and ate at the restaurant. On the way we saw manatee, turtles, fish, and so many birds. We also saw the emu and llamas at Emu Island. There's also fishing poles you can use. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals except for the food. There's a grill outside, coffee maker with k cups and creamer, and cold bottles of water in the refrigerator. The wifi and Roku worked great! We could tell that the owners put a lot work into making this place a comfortable, memorable, enjoyable, worry-free, holiday oasis. The location and extra amenities make it an incredible value! We will definitely be back!

Stayed Apr 5, 2026Best nature coast vacation rental in Homosassa for couples wanting to escape it all! We have stayed in this lovely home twice now and we will be visiting again. The manatees swimming through the backyard, fish, turtles and we seen a baby black tip shark this time. It’s really exciting to just turn the spot light on out back on the dock around 9pm and just watch all the wildlife. Even the squirrels and raccoons are entertaining to watch. Very peaceful and smelled so clean when we walked through the door. There are so many antique and thrift shops around the area you could spend a rainy day enjoying that. We took a couple hour drive to peace river for a day to look for fossils in the river. Found many sharks teeth and prehistoric fossils if your into that it is a beautiful river and to find an area to sift for cheap I recommend Brownsville Park and pay 2 dollars for parking. The owners to this property are right next door which is convenient but honestly you don’t even know they are there the back yard is very private. If you take the gheenoe out you will almost always see manatees it seems. If your not having any luck paddle out to the middle and just patiently wait a few moments with your paddles out of the water in silence to hear one coming up for air. They seem very curious so they will come close. I would recommend this house to anyone who loves nature and privacy.

They left information and brochures for all the spots to visit. The bed was comfy. We saw lots of fish, an otter swam by, circled back and poked his head up to look at us. We also saw the neighborhood albino peacock. It’s very quiet and restful. We will definitely come back! Thank you Debbie and Dennis!

Stayed Dec 3, 2025It was dark upon arrival making it challenging to find but luckily the owners were home to direct me, as they reside nextdoor. The cabin felt very welcoming and clean, beautifully decorated. Owners are very sweet. Motion sensor lights would be beneficial for at night. Sadly the majority of the time I was there (2 weeks) the water was very low so I could not use the kayaks. It was unusually cool as well. I was hoping to see more wildlife during my stay but did get to meet the Woodstork (s) that visits. The cabin is perfect for a shorter stays, however for longer ones, a few things to consider. No stove/oven (there is a Ninja Air Fryer and some electric skillets), mini fridge, no on-site laundry, no ice or enough space to store a bag of ice. Description says there is a larger fridge with ice out back but there wasn’t. Also no hair dryer. Had I known I would have brought my own. A strainer and some food storage containers would be helpful for the kitchen as well. Overall my stay was comfortable and pleasant. Loved being so close to Crystal River as well as the wildlife state park. Conveniently located close to restaurants and stores. Serene and quiet.

Stayed Oct 31, 2025My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this waterfront cottage. It's a great place for a weekend getaway and is close to MANY Florida Springs attractions (we visited Seven Sisters while here). We found the site very relaxing and I appreciated that there were multiple vessels already in the water available for a quick paddle on the Halls River, which we took advantage of using the canoe at the property. There is also a fantastic restaurant just down the road called Wallace's which had great ambiance and great service--we visited them both nights that we stayed at the cottage. And although we did not bring our dog this time, the property is very dog-friendly and you can close the main gate after you drive into the yard to keep your pup corralled (just keep in mind that there is no fence along the water). The only thing that would make this property better would be a stove and dishwasher, which would facilitate a longer stay. That said, there are some smaller appliances available for cooking, as well as an outdoor grill. All in all, this is definitely a rental that I would return to again for short stays, and I intend to!

The cottage is a really nice size with a lot of beautiful lighting. Even though it doesn't have a stove it literally has everything else that you would ever need, plus the larger refrigerator outside is a really nice touch. Stayed Apr 11, 2025We came looking for a quiet weekend getaway and the property did not disappoint. The location is off the beaten path, yet very close to many of the local sites and activities. The outside is very accommodating with plenty of seating to watch the variety of fish swim by in the creek. There was use of kayak, canoe and paddle boat to enjoy. The inside was nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. I had no intention of cooking (LOL!) so the limited kitchen facilities was not an issue...no stove or inside full-size refrigerator, nor coffee maker, only Kuerig. The shower had great water temperature and flow, just a little tight for our liking. Overall a very good stay!

We seen so many fish a big alligator snapper an armadillo, wood stork the friendly neighboring white peacock that roams the street. The manatees really can’t get up the waterway in the backyard when it’s low tide but a quick trip to the open water right outside of the canal and a little patience we seen manatees both times we went out and it was so neat they followed us around in the canoe. We also seen sting ray and river otters while on the canoe. We seen no alligators so our last night we took the canoe out with flash lights and right outside of the canal in open water we seen lots of glowing eyes swimming across the water or hiding in the grass. Such a neat experience we will be back to this house on our next trip to Crystal River.
