Stayed May 31, 2024Fabulous position. Very Helpful assistance. No manual for dishwasher which had a weird method of setting and needed salt. The minutest thimble bottle of washing up liquid , hand wash, etc seemed very petty for our use. So had to buy on day 1. Shame as otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed Dec 8, 2025Beautiful setting with stunning views and lovely cozy and well equipped cottage. Just right for 2 people. Friendly toll keepers with lots of useful local knowledge. Easy access to superb walking and a nearby pub. Loved the extra little touches such as the mini Christmas tree and lights as our stay was mid December. A bit disappointed with the shower which was very weak. Otherwise everything was perfect

Stayed Nov 20, 2025The quirkiness and position of the cottage. Welcome Welsh cakes and fruit cake and tea coffee. Views and friendliness of toll bridge staff. Removing cobwebs around the ceilings. More guidance on where the key safe and car parking was located, binning waste and use of decking. Better response time on WhatsApp. Correct WiFi details and bridge opening times,

Stayed Sep 29, 2025Our second visit to the Toll Bridge House, this time for two weeks, and it didn't disappoint. The accommodation was lovely and clean, with welcoming croissants and Welsh cakes. We were a little concerned when storm Amy came, but nothing to worry about. The Toll Bridge staff are really friendly and helpful, and this year we watched the swimmers taking part in the Barmouth Hurly Burly. All in all a fantastic place to stay. Hope to be back in 2026. The settee is a bit low and uncomfortable. But we put a couple of pillows on there to make it a little better. Otherwise, all great.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Pub was within walking distance of the property and food was wonderful and staff were very friendly. Cottage is a wonderful base for walking and we were incredibly lucky with the weather. Toll bridge staff are amazing and so helpful and knowledgeable. Parking could be an issue at times but other than that, everything was great

Stayed Sep 28, 2024Loved seeing the birdlife through the window and the wonderful views in all weather Please provide the basics in the kitchen - nobidy wants to have to go out to buy salt, oil, coffee, tea, sugar. The best self-catering places usually provide these as a default... Pain au chocolat was lovely touch wldnt bother with the welshcskes haha otherwise we loved everything. Wonderful relaxing place to chill.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Amazing location: right on the Mawddach trail, close to Barmouth, Dolgellau, Fairbourne, yards from the very nice George III pub, less than a mile from Penmaenuchaf Hall (fancy dining - go on Sunday for 3 courses + appetisers and bread, almost affordable at £38). Really enjoyed being part of the daily life of the toll bridge, listening to the comings and goings of locals and tourists. It's not loud, or disruptive, just a gentle routine that's fun to observe. The toll keepers are lovely too. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very, very well-equipped. We lacked nothing. The appliances are all well maintained too - hob, oven, fridge and dishwasher all do a grand job. The heating is effective, even though we were there for a particularly chilly long weekend in April we were never cold. The log burner added to the cosiness. We didn't get a chance to sit on the terrace due to the cold weather but we did check it out and dreamt about coming back in warmer weather just to sit there gazing out over the water. The best bit of the cottage is the views - looking out across the water (upstream and down), watching the geese, herons, waders...imagining that we can see otters (we couldn't, but we really, really wanted to). Booking and access was all very slick, clear instructions made it all straightforward. There's a folder full of manuals for appliances and helpful information about the place. Some fantastic historical detail about the bridge too. Really didn't want to leave

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Friendly & helpful staff at the toll booth. Stunning location. The property is pet friendly. Unfortunately this meant that my clothes are now covered in dog hair. The free parking is not a dedicated car park for the cottage- guests are directed to a public car park which is full at peak holiday times.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Primarily location, and the cottage is perfect for two, well equipped and comfortable, with excellent wifi. Toll Bridge staff were helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable but we found the duvet too heavy for our comfort. Vacuum cleaner could do with some attention.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Beautiful setting. Good amenities It is what it is, but it's a shame that it isn't a little larger, consequently it's a little expensive for its size. Furnishings could be more cosy and comfortable.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We loved everything about Toll Bridge Cottage. It is in a beautiful setting, deceptively spacious and so well equipped, clean and comfortable ! The owners / toll keepers are very friendly and helpful. The history of the bridge is interesting and there is well researched information about it in the cottage. The nearby inn is a bonus and serves delicious food. There are beautiful walks right from the doorstep - we can’t recommend a stay here highly enough!

Stayed Aug 2, 2024The location and accommodation was beautiful. We enjoyed the local walks, day trips to great little trains and Sunday Lunch at the very local pub. The toll keepers were friendly and helpful. The house was well appointed and there aren’t any serious changes necessary. We did find the duvet a little heavy for August but the “spare” on the wardrobe was thinner for subsequent nights. The hoover provided was also underpowered - having a dog we are used to hoovering daily to keep on top of his hair.
