Treetops is Saugatuck’s only rental featuring three neighboring vintage cottages—perfect for multi-family getaways. Nestled around a shared firepit and professionally maintained hot tub, each cottage offers screened porches, harbor or dune views, and generous outdoor space for grilling and gathering. Cottages may be reserved individually or together, depending on availability. This listing is for the entire Treetops compound.

Big Red Cottage: Open concept living space withvintage cottage finishes, soaring ceiling, two separate bedrooms, and separate living space on the lower level (separate entrance). A large full bath on the upper level and a separate private bathroom on the lower level provide plenty of capacity. An expansive screened porch wraps the upper-level front of the cottage, situated directly on the dune bluff; the harbor views are fantastic. Includes washer/dryer.

The Lookout Cottage: A smaller version of Big Red, this cottage is also open concept living with vintage cottage finishes and a lovely farm-style kitchen. A bedroom is attached to the main living space, coupled with a large bathroom, providing plenty of capacity for 4 guests. A queen-sized Room and Board sleeper sofa and sleeping porch with a twin trundle bed is available for extra sleeping. The Lookout has a large screened porch with views of the harbor. The fire pit has the best views in town, you have to see it to believe it! Includes washer/dryer.

Dune Buggy Cottage: The most unique of the cottages, Dune Buggy is the newest one and a special retreat at the top of the dune with a wrap-around porch, studio-style layout with a wood-burning stove, half-bath, and outdoor shower. Guests can open all the windows and enjoy complete outdoor-style (screened-in) sleeping, or keep it closed for a cozy night on the dune. We at Lakewood Lux have recently enhanced the cottage with newly installed climate control (heat and air conditioning) and a thoughtfully designed kitchenette, offering elevated comfort and convenience for your stay. This cottage is the smallest, a perfect sleeping quarter to augment Big Red and The Lookout.

We brought our leadership team here for a few days of strategic thinking, relaxation, and group therapy disguised as PowerPoint slides—and left with a renewed sense of purpose, a suspicious amount of deer selfies, and mild shower envy.Pros:Fully stocked kitchen: We could’ve hosted Top Chef: Retreat Edition. Every utensil you can imagine. We didn’t use most of them, but just knowing it was there made us feel accomplished.Walkable location: Easy stroll to the chain ferry, which felt like stepping into a Tom Sawyer reboot. Decor: Eclectic cabin vibes - think Grandma’s cottage, but she’s very cool.Cleanliness: Immaculate. You could eat off the floors, but with so many utensils, why would you?Cozy vibes: Surrounded by trees, it was like a group hug from Mother Nature. Deer: So. Many. Deer. Like a Disney movie, but with more awkward morning run encounters.Caveat: The smallest cabin has no indoor shower, which we knew going in. There is an outdoor one, which is technically private but also technically outdoors. A great choice if you want your shower with a light breeze, mild adrenaline, and the distant sound of a chipmunk judging your shampoo brand.

Excellent location. We felt like we were worlds away when we were at the cabins, but in reality, we were steps away from the ferry. Just a few minutes and we were in the heart of town. Easy drive to the beach. Very well appointed cabins. They are filled with charm. Would love to return in the future!

What can I say?! We had a blast! It was the perfect place to celebrate our oldest sons' 40th birthday in STYLE! The 3 cottages are all beautiful, well-stocked, clean... everything we needed and more! The common areas (fire pit, hot tub and outdoor tables) were popular gathering spots. The locations to the Chain Ferry was super convenient and the drive to Oval Beach was so quick (we tried walking it once, and while it is totally walk-able, it was a bit far for tired kids!) My husband and I took the Dune Buggy Cottage (without AC) and loved it! With windows open, you didn't even notice that it had no AC. Everything was top-notch! Thank you for helping us create a memorable getaway for our family!

We had a fantastic stay at the cabins. There where a few draw backs. If you are handicap, elderly or have trouble with a lot of steps this place would not be for you. There are no curtains in the two main master bedrooms which do not give any privacy. The room that is in the Big Red downstairs is not really appropriate for children as it is totally separate from the rest of the cabin. It would work better for adults. Also the smaller cabin does not have ac so bring some kind of fan for you to use. Other than those few things we had a great time!

We loved the location of this property. We crossed Lake Kalamazoo by chain ferry and also drove around to town. Tons of coffee shops and restaurants. We were right next to Oval beach which was just lovely. Two of our three cabins on the compound were recently renovated and were well stocked with linens and kitchen/cooking utensils. and some paper supplies. The kids and grandkids quickly claimed their cabins and rooms. The third cabin was furthest up the steep hill and was a property with a comfortable queen bed and serene screened in porch. The bed area did have glass doors and windows with screens. There is a bathroom in cabin; the shower is outside with some cover. Do not expect complete privacy in this very open-concept cabin. It has no air conditioner, and we knew that going into this. Our first two nights were extremely hot and humid. Although there are ceiling fans, we borrowed a tower style floor fan from one of the kids. After a severe storm passed through one night overnight, things cooled off. The owner Erica was very responsive to all our questions before and during out trip. We had eleven in our group. There is plenty of room for all. We used the hot tub and grill several times. There are two extra-large picnic tables and two iron table and chair sets. So, plenty of places to gather for games and meals. The fire pit was very easy and nice. Great family memories here!

This Vrbo was perfect for our mixed group of girlfriends. It allowed for lots of gathering time in the various collective spaces, but also offered separate cabins for privacy and down time. The cabins were really well equipped with supplies (rare for some vacation places!), and they were super clean. Erica was exceptionally responsive to all of our needs and requests! The location is prime: 3min drive to the beach and less than 10min from restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shopping!

The cottages were a perfect backdrop for our family holiday. Saugatuck is near and dear to our hearts and has been part of our family memories for so many years. Each cottage was set-up with everything you need. The location couldn't be better.
