Amazing stay
We loved staying her for our anniversary weekend. Can't wait to come back and stay longer.
The Library was a great place to stay. Traveling with my elementary aged kids it was fantastic to have the game room next door. The kids had a place to be noisy and play when they woke up early or while I made dinner. Everyone throughly enjoyed their stay!
Location was close to town, nice views, unique property, lots of space, well appointed, clean, lovely decor & easy access.
We loved everything about this stay from the large selection of books to the cute little kitchen so we could make our meals. There were also board games and cds for music. It was nice just spending time as a family connecting without a whole bunch of electronics.
There is no place like the Library Suite at Bluff House! We have been coming back twice a year for the last several years. We love the rural atmosphere; the friendliness of Ferndale; the closeness to the redwoods, Lost Coast, Old Town Eureka, and the lovely back roads of Humboldt County; and, of course, the unique book-lined space with its soaring windows and walls of books. Sharon and Sylvia are thoughtful hosts. We will keep coming back for as long as we can.
Very quiet and relaxing. Will be booking again, hopefully soon.
The Library is a quiet studio on the outskirts of town. We had a great stay. We cooked a few meals in the sparse but adequate kitchenette. The book collection is amazing. We were close enough to bebop into town in about a minute but had deer and turkeys wandering outside our front door. If you're a early riser there are big windows aplenty to let in the morning light. Our teenager stayed with us and had a roomy futon that he slept comfortably on. He was NOT as excited about the bright morning sun.
Our 7 years old grandson really enjoyed the ping pong table and fooz ball table. It was very quiet, other than the wild turkeys in the morning, lol. There wasn't a TV which is disclosed on the listing but I overlooked it. One of the rituals we have with our grandson is a family movie before bedtime so we ended up buying a small TV and brought our ROKU so it worked out.
Lovely pasture views and comfy bed. You can get lost in books and never leave.
I've honestly lost track of the number of times my wife and I have stayed in the Library Suite at Bluff House--four or five, I think. We always come back because we love Ferndale and the accommodations are absolutely unique: the soaring ceilings, tall windows, and walls of books. Last year, there were heifers in the meadow below the kitchen window. This year, the yard was regularly visited by eight or ten wild turkeys. The place is always spotless, and Sharon and Sylvia have been thoughtful hosts over the years. Close to the redwoods, the coast, and Ferndale's Victorian downtown. We will be back.
This space is quiet and private. It is great for a getaway on your own or to reconnect with someone special. The fire pit is a great element in the evenings, the space is comfortable and inviting, and the kitchen allows for you to prep good food at home if you don't want to eat in Ferndale. My partner and I have returned a handful of times. We plan to stay at the Library again.
This is our third stay in Library Suite at Bluff house, and we will be back as soon as we can. Sylvia and Sharon are thoughtful owners, and the place is always immaculate. Soaring windows fill this book-filled building with light. This trip, the meadows outside the windows featured flocks of wild turkeys and young deer. And so close to downtown Ferndale. A delightful place to stay.
We really enjoyed the Library House. Cozy, homey, and great location within easy walk to downtown and Russ Park. It was very clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. Loved all the books!
It was the perfect little house for a quiet couple days after dropping my child off at nearby Humboldt State. Very peaceful and so much fun animal life! There were a dozen wild turkeys in the yard, with sheep and cows in the neighboring properties. The pathway from the property to the historic downtown was adorable, but wear hiking shoes and long pants.. I even sampled some wild blackberries along the way. The owners left detailed instructions and the house was clean and well stocked. The only warning I need to give is that if you are NOT a morning person, the bright morning light pouring in the two story windows might be a problem.
The property is within walking distance of the main Ferndale attractions: downtown, Russ Park and Ferndale cemetery. Clean quiet and beautiful.
Wow - our family had a wonderful experience during our stay in Ferndake, CA. My 6 year old and I enjoyed playing ping pong and football in the game room. I really enjoyed browsing the books and even indulging win the music collection.. Thanks for sharing with us your cozy facility.
This suite is just minutes from the Main Street of Ferndale and close to Eureka. It’s a small house off a large farm with cows in view of the windows. Note that there is a game room adjacent to the suite and no television is available. It’s clean and the hosts are easy to communicate to. It was a nice place to lay our heads before our trek on the Lost Coast trail.
great place, comfortable with that farmstead feel. You get a birdseye view of Ferndale from here. Highly recommend. Nice that one of the cabins allows dogs, nice fenced in areas. Trails right next to the property, just a few miles to the beach.
Lovely barn studio. Lots of natural light. Cozy and charming. Great firepit for evenings by the fire. Turkeys, cows, and cat roam nearby. Comfortable bed. Great books to look at. Have returned 3 times and will return again. Highly recommend.
We loved staying at the Library Suite at the Bluff House!! We were able to walk to town and Russ Park. We enjoyed the space around the property with lush greenery and many different types of farm animals including cows. The Library Suite was very cozy, clean, and enjoyable. A previous review about bringing a cot was a great idea since our kids are teenagers and they both would not have fit on the pull out couch together. I would highly recommend staying here--it was wonderful!!
This was our second stay in the Library Suite. We have been fans of Ferndale since we first visited a decade ago--such a pretty, relaxed little town. And we love the suite's high ceilings, big windows, and, of course, the many, many books. What a unique place! And Sylvia and Sharon are such thoughtful hosts. Everything is always spotless. We will definitely be back.
My oldest daughter graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday. All the local hotels/motels were so expensive and frankly dirty and crappy. This cottage hide a way was amazing and cheaper. Felt homey and comfortable but with a historical edge. I loved that there was no t.v. My 19 year old daughter and her boyfriend were with me and we bonded and enjoyed ourselves even more because of this cottage. We met the owner and liked her immediately. We didnt want to leave.
