This older, original style, character Bach is a holiday cottage for all seasons and for all reasons. Not only is it ideally positioned for the enthusiastic fishermen, being adjacent to the Judges Pool on the Tongariro River, it is also a wonderful holiday cottage for families.

The Property backs onto the river reserve and it is an easy wander out through the section and down to the river to fish or to enjoy short or long walks along the river banks.

The Fishing Bach is ideally located 35 minutes from Mount Ruapehu and the Tongariro National park and all that this area offers, with skiing and the other outdoor pursuits such as biking and hiking, especially the famous Tongariro Crossing.

Nearby attractions include the wonderful Lake Taupo, (5mins), Hot Pools at Tokaanu, (5mins), and the bustling tourist town of Taupo, (30mins). There is also the Kaimanawa Forest Park a short drive away.

Turangi has a New World supermarket and a small shopping centre which caters for most requirements, including the best meat pies! There is a covered swimming pool complex and mini golf all within walking distance.

The Fishing Bach is a self contained cottage on a large back section. It is ideal and safe for children who can bring their bikes and enjoy playing outdoors.

The Bach sleeps a maximum of 6 people, with 3 bedrooms in all. It has a cosy living area with an open fireplace, essential in winter and a separate dining room. It has one bathroom with a shower/shub, a tidy compact kitchen and a washing machine and dryer.

There is plenty of parking for cars and boats on the property.

Bed Linen is provided. Bring own bath towels, but can be provided for extra fee of $3 each.

There is a cleaning fee of $85 per stay.
Special conditions:
Sugar, coffee, tea, flour, salt, are in the cupboard for your use and long life milk is in the fridge for your first cup of tea on arrival.

The Fishing bach is made available for use on the condition that it is cared for (we like it!) Please accept that any undue damage may be charged for.
We are pet friendly and are happy to have your well behaved pets stay with you. There is a large internal garage where they can easily be housed. Please ask for details.

Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$85.00 per stay); Linen (included);

The Fishing Bach was a perfect and charming place to stay while visiting Tongariro National Park. The garden was lovely and peaceful and backed onto the preserve a great walking option. Beds were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked. Susi and Johny were welcoming and helpful. We loved it!

Really nice place to stay for a few days with the kids and dog. Nice secluded character home surrounded by gardens, must be amazing in the summer sun. Weather got cold and wet (including a storm that caused a power cut, but plenty of candles on hand) for us, however heaters in every room and a lovely fireplace meant it is cosy. Backs onto Tongariro river reserve which was great to walk the dog and bike.

From the moment I entered the drive and saw the red garage door, I new this cottage was special. As we walked around the property I felt at peace knowing not only this property was a delight fit for me, more importantly my spaniel, Freyja was free to run, explore and as is her nature never venture to far. Inside the cottage we found a beautiful range of spaces , well appointed with everything we could ask for and the fire place was the icing on the cake. Plenty of outdoor seating for when the sun was out to sit and read. The bed was so comfortable. As you can gather I am a fan and would highly recommend this property and it's wonderful hosts

We had such a blast as a family of 4 plus one extra adult. Our boys are 5 and 6 and they loved the back gate on the property to the river. The backyard for throwing the ball around and the river trail with their bikes. We enjoyed meals in the seperate dining room woth glorious morning sun. We had all the utensils to have a great bbq. We would definitely be back. The host provided us with everythijg w e needed and was very obliging.

My wife and I absolutely loved our time spent at the Fishing Bach. It's a low key, no fuss spot to stay when you're in the area. I was able to sneak out the backyard to fish a little as well, the access to the Tongariro River is perfect. We stayed here while also hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and enjoyed being in Turangi moreso than Taupo. We look forward to making another trip here again hopefully!

Due to a brand new family member deciding to turn up on the week of our stay we had to cancel our prepaid trip one day out from arrival, the river Bach owner was very accomodating allowing us to stay at a later more suitable date in the future, communication was both prompt and thoughtful.

After breaking my knee cap 54 weeks ago, this was the first time out on a river since then. A long time coming. More a test of the knee rather than a Trout Fishing stay. The house was as per usual. We have stayed there before and know it well. Dealing with Susie was easy and no drama at all. Thanks for another great 4 day Time Off! P.S. 2 trout to me. Let both go and had Burger King that night. Ha!
