The peaceful Dalbeattie Woods back on to the cottage with pleasant walks for all abilities including an pleasant walk round Plantain Loch; for those looking for a buzz there are the Forestry Commissions 7Stanes mountain bike routes. The other 7stanes trails are easily accessible from Dalbeattie. Springfield is well positioned for exploring the adjoining area and the popular beach at Sandyhills is only about a five and a half mile drive, as are the popular seaside villages of Kippford and Rockcliffe providing easy access to the Solway Coast walks and also water sport facilities. The area is a mecca for those looking for outdoor pursuits with numerous golf courses including an eighteen hole links championship course at Southerness and local riding stables offer hacks and schooling. Peaceful and attractive fishing spots can be found on the Solway Coast, together with the rivers and lochs in the area which make it a wonderful place to visit and enjoy.

Scotland's heritage can be explored and enjoyed with the historic towns of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright both within easy reach and also the renowned sites such as Sweetheart Abbey at New Abbey and historic castles including Threave Castle at Castle Douglas; ring the bell to call the ferryman to carry you across the river to the castle.     Nice, warm, well equipped property. Quiet neighborhood. Perfect when travelling with kids and a dog. Very clean and well maintained. Great garden with a sitting area.

    This was an ideal base for our week's stay at the edge of Dalbeattie. The garden was safe for our dogs. 5 minute walk into woodland or into town. Very well equipped, clean. A short drive to the coast. Comfortable beds, everything we needed. Would definitely stay again, if they would let us!

    Comfortable cottage. In a lovely setting not far from town. All facilities provided. Safe enclosed back garden for the dog and miles of walks through the forest at the back of the cottage. Owners live nearby and were very helpful indeed. Dalbeattie a great centre for exploring Dumfries and Galloway and for golf courses.

    Very nice,but could not let our small dogs off lead in garden.farm gate wide slats.would just need a bit of netting to cover gaps.small gate slats missing so again not secure.only small alteration needed.Advertised as enclosed.Otherwise well equipped holiday home.Very clean.Had a lovely holiday.Area brilliant.
