Stayed Oct 25, 2025Lovely accommodation, had everything we needed and more. Clean and comfortable, warm and spacious. Lovely open views. Hilary was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. Nice welcome basket too. Very quiet location which suited us perfectly.

Stayed May 26, 2025Hilary and Mark have provided an excellent holiday getaway hideout. We were there 2 weeks and did day trips every day except when an Atlantic storm came to visit. On that day we were able to sit in the comfort and safety of Rose's solid stone walls which have stood the test of time and the also comforting wood fire. Modern conveniences kept up entertained and up to date as the WiFi and Sat TV worked well. Kitchen is well equipped and spacious. Many good meals were prepared with yummy local foods and treats. The area is remote but Hilary and Mark are a font of knowledge as to were to go for a variety of tastes, thirsts, history, books, nature and all round fun times. The local farm store is excellent for a meal or to stock up on essential and artisan foods/goods. Dalbeattie is relatively close as is Threave Garden and house. The only warning we'd give is to be careful with the super powerful heating system; most days we left it off as once heated, the rooms remain too warm especially if you enjoy a comfortable log fire as we do. Thank you H and M for a restful and also fun filled holiday.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Just had a mid week visit to Rose cottage. Had two older teens with us so the WiFi was an excellent bonus. Lovely clean and well equipped cottage. Great walks in the area. Would highly recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Beautiful well equipped cottage, warm, cosy and comfortable in the cold weather of autumn. Very helpful owner supplying a lovely welcome basket with a difference, oat cakes, biscuits, jam, taramasalata and ginger beer ! The views to the front of the cottage are great, hubby took great interest in the cattle that came and went from this field. Although there were no shops locally there is a good selection in Dalbeattie some 4 miles away. As well as very beautiful walks the area has other attractions including NT properties within 20 miles or so. The place was so peaceful, could have stayed forever !

Stayed Dec 31, 1969An excellent week in Rose Cottage, probably the best equipped holiday house we have rented- and we have rented a lot! Friendly, helpful owners and a really central base. We had day trips to Kirkudbright and Wigtown as well as excellent local walks. Bird and wildlife excellent and would thoroughly recommend.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Comfortable, well-equipped cottage. Lovely rural setting not too far from amenities. As pointed out by owners there is no mobile signal at the cottage but you can pick up one close by. WiFi was adequate for us. The access road is a bit rough in places but it is probably only around 600 metres long.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We're just back from a lovely week in Rose Cottage. One of the most relaxing holidays we've had. Cottage was gorgeous, very well equipped and surrounding scenery beautiful. It's ideal for wildlife and bird watching and just the peace and quiet. Even saw 2 red squirrels at Eskrigg nearby! No hesitation giving 10 out of 10 for everything and the only reason for the 8 for local amenities was that Dalbeattie is about 5 miles away so you've got to not mind a short drive for supplies which we were very happy with! Dalbeattie well equipped though! Daniel and Joanne were lovely hosts and we'd also highly recommend the Galloway Soup Company for lunch.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This cottage is absolutely beautiful it's warm and cosy under floor heating throughout . Log burner with a large Bascet Fuji l of logs ( we had to switch heating off to use the log burner because we were to hot but couldn't resist using the burner ?) . Top quality fixtures fittings soft furnitings bed linnen towels etc . The cottage is absolutely spotless . The welcom pack was the best we have had in any Holliday . . The garden is a great size for the family to play ball games and good size patio area . Owners were also lovely helpful and gave us a very warm welcome . We will definitely we be returning ? Massive thanks to Danial and Joanne X
