Nantucket, Massachusetts
Are you fed up with the hustle and bustle of the noise and confusion in and around the town of Nantucket Are you missing the quiet peaceful times you experienced as a kid or if this is your first time to the island and are looking for a place to relax
Please Check out “Corkish Cottages” and experience the “Peace and Quiet” that has surely faded away from many parts of the island. Listen to the birds instead of the cars whizzing by. Don’t worry about the safety of your kids or your pets playing in the yard. At night look into space at all the stars that are now visible without all the light pollution of town. Remember this is where Maria Mitchel made her discoveries.
So if your looking to relax with friends and family and enjoy being out in Nature please give Corkish Cottages a chance.
The cottage sits on its own 10 ACRES of privacy. The kitchen is fully equipped. There are 3 large sundecks for sunbathing, relaxing, or having sunset cocktails with family and friends. There is a gas/charcoal grill that is great for “dining out”. The cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, 2 Queens and 1 with 2 twins. In addition to the 3 bathrooms there is an enclosed outside shower as well. For those of you who need to stay connected, there is tv, Internet and phone. Quidnet Beach and the entrance to Great Point are only minutes away. Siasconset is three miles and the town of Nantucket is seven miles away. There is a shuttle bus stop nearby, and the bike path goes to both Siasconset and Nantucket. If you have a car, there is plenty of space to park. There is a very large yard perfect for playing games like vollyball, baseball, tag football, or fetch with the family dog.
It was so nice to be away from the congestion of downtown. The cottage was just what we were looking for. A close drive or bike ride to Sconset, Quidnet Beach and even downtown, but a world away from the traffic. The house is not fancy, but is clean and well set up. My 84 year old mom was able to enjoy her time there as much as my teenage kids. No water views, but lots of space and beautiful, quiet, star-filled skies.
Great location and a nice lot, but the inside is really dated and worn and a lot of it is pretty dirty. The layout is nice but it feels like a serial rental that hasn’t been taken great care of. There were a lot of stains on the carpets and furniture and even on the sheets and bedding. We actually took one of the blankets off one of the beds and put it over the couch because it felt cleaner. In the kitchen, there are a lot of basic pots and pans and utensils, but nothing beyond the minimum. No salt and pepper, no cooking oil, no tupperware or storage containers, so you’d have to bring it all yourself to not be really limited in what you can do to eat in. Furniture really needs to be replaced. It’s all random/mismatched, but more importantly it’s just not clean anymore. The bathrooms were very clean, which was great. But we did end up having a lot of ants and other bugs. There were three beach chairs but they were big lounge chairs that were really heavy so not easy to haul to and from the beach. And despite being a really nice lot, there’s really no garden or flower beds, so it feels a bit sterile. Also the WiFi was really weak. We had to work some of the time and we could usually manage emails but zooms/video calls were too much.
The house is exactly as advertised and a great value for the price. As advertised, no AC in the house, so on a hot August day you are relying on stationary fans and cross breezes to cool the house, but generally cool night time temperatures were a welcome relief for the few hot days. The owner was very communicative and easy to work with.
Nice Private cottage. Great for family and pets. Big yard for enjoyment too. Prompt communication and easy check in/out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property was beautiful - gorgeous large lawn in the front and back and very private. House is spacious with tall ceilings and 3 full baths. Perfect for a family getaway. It was a huge bonus for us that we were able to bring along our pups who really enjoyed playing fetch in the yard. Suzette was very responsive and helpful with all our questions pre-arrival and after. Some nice touches that made our arrival extra special were fresh flowers and a bag of local coffee on the kitchen table (especially since we had asked about a coffee pot when packing for the trip) - very thoughtful! Thanks, Suzette!
