Sanderling Sea Cottages, Unit 1 with Deck!

This was the worst stay of our vacation. The steps were impassable with suitcases, the deck was horrible with rotting wood and exposed nails. The lock box was rusted and too for ever to open and close. But the WORST was the infestation of ants EVERYWHERE and the mgmt knew this but the ant traps in every room, Very deceiving pictures and verbiage about the property!

The listing was not accurate, the pictures looked photoshopped compared to the actual listing. The property needs updating. The saving grace was the beautiful location, the back sliding door opened on to a deck that lead right out into the dunes with a short walk to the beach.

Our stay was just fine for 1 night. The view of the ocean was very nice, and we enjoyed our walk on the beach. The bedrooms were nice enough and spacious.The stairs to the bedrooms were really steep, so it was challenging carrying suitcases up the stairs.The downstairs was a little cramped, but not a big deal for 2 of us. The bathroom was smallish and a bit of a trek to the first floor in the middle of the night.

Love the character of this place and the location! Will definitely be renting this place, again!

Very comfy and clean. Location and view is great! Walk to beach is wonderful. The cottage is in of some upgrades which is probably in the works judging by the other newer units. It’s not an end unit as described and the photos were a little misleading but overall it was a great place to stay.

This was the first Vrbo that I booked. We really enjoyed our start, but for a family of 6 and a dog, I would recommend that you look for a larger unit. Other than size and the only toilet in the unit taking 20 min to flush, it was a great place. Walking distance to the beach. We will definitely be going back but to a larger unit.

This place was a pretty big disappointment. Not clean (fridge was sticky, dead bugs on the floor that I had to pick up so my puppy wouldn't eat them). The 2 sliding doors have no screens so if you want fresh air (and it's hot with the western sun coming in), you have to tie up your dog inside the house and expect flies to come in. I have no problem with places and things that are old, especially if a place is clean. However, it is time for the owners to dip into their profits and do a few upgrades. Will not be returning.

The proximity to the beach was AMAZING! The accommodations were not outstanding, but okay for the quick overnight. Pros: Easy to just walk out to the beach for a walk or a sunset, bedroom with one bed in it has great view of the ocean and can listen to the waves, and right off the 101 for a quick stay. Cons: toilet didn’t work very well, condo was relatively clean, but not outstanding, and the room with two beds was super loud. Had to have windows open to cool the place. All good on the side with the ocean noises, but on the side of the 101, it was very noisy. Again, we just used it for a quick overnight and it served its purpose. Just make sure you have expectations relative to what you book. We did, so we were good. If you are expecting top notch accommodations, this isn’t it. If you’re cool with a nice location close to the beach with a place to lay your head for a night this is a great place for you!

I have stayed in various rental units during my many years of travel in the U.S. and abroad, I have never come across such an experience where the photos and description were so misleading. A warning about the dangerous and steep stairs needed to be included in the description, a photo of the bathroom clearly stated that it was on the second floor (like bedrooms). The stairs are an evident hazard, narrow and steep with higher risers than the norm. The problem is not that the place is older, but that there is no warning about these unusual stairs that pose a safety issue. There is also an additional small step from the loft with the main bed, not an actual bedroom with door. I was concerned from the get go, and even with being careful I fell and sustained an injury.

It was perfect for what we needed. Very close to excellent. Wish there was a very very good option. Not fancy, but short walk to beach, good location, and our own deck made for a lovely stay. Would go back.

Such a great location. Short walk from the water with dunes on the way. The home itself has all the essentials with a couple of fabulous views.

Was hoping a nice evening sitting on deck but deck chairs were filthy and covered with bird excrement. Had to take out the dining chairs onto the deck. No table available. Woodwork inside and deck in poor shape. Online did not indicate narrow, steep, difficult stairs. We elected to keep suitcases on the dining table. The place was clean but smelled of mildew.

Loved the location, sheets and towels were very clean. The rest of the unit could use some serious love. Using packaging tape to hold together the bathroom door is a unique use of materials. The floors and bathroom could really use a strong cleaning. The stairs to the second floor are very steep and I don’t recommend for anyone with bifocals or vertigo! Great location!

Location was great. The only complaint was the lack of visibility trying to get out of the parking area. The cottage was really great, but the downstairs was incredibly small. It felt like the 8 person table in the entry/dining/kitchen/living room was unnecessary and more of an inconvenience than an amenity. Otherwise the beach was amazing and there was great access. The bedrooms were roomy and comfortable.Would definitely recommend for people looking for a dog friendly place to stay.

Everything was as advertised. We love the beach access. There is a hose nearby to rinse off feet before going in to apartment. There is only one bathroom downstairs and all beds are upstairs so hard for anyone needing frequent bathroom visits with mobility issues.

This was very cute, great location and beach access. We loved the cute upstairs and the beds were comfy. We would stay here again for sure!

Very clean. Property manager very helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Problem: the sliding door to the beach was very hard to open. My mother-in-law (86) could not open it. Alone, in a fire, with no other way out, she would die.

Great location but dont walk bare foot in the back yard. Kots of spikey things in the ground.
