Ryedale is single storey and sleeps four (in two bedrooms)

Located within the Howardian Hills Area ofOutstanding Natural Beauty, the cottage has stunning views from its picture windows. Ryedale Cottage offers all the comforts of home in a unique historic setting, with timber beams and exposed stone walls. The cottage features a large lounge (including a new corner sofa for four) with dining area and log burner, two bedrooms (one double bedroom, the other with twin single beds), a new bathroom with shower cubicle, and a well equipped kitchen area. The kitchen includes a hob & oven, fridge (with freezer compartment) and microwave. Ryedale Cottage sleeps 4, all on one level, no steps, plus walk-in shower with shower seat. We also offer disabled parking spaces, high chair and travel cot on request.
Ryedale Cottage is one of four holiday cottages at Sproxton Hall Cottages. All benefit from the shared use of our landscaped grounds which include a courtyard garden with outdoor furniture, a large lawned area with picnic benches and an enclosed dog exercise paddock. The cottages have on-site parking for up to 2 cars per cottage. We are open all year and guests love to enjoy the changing seasons, making use of the log burner in the colder months.
There are plenty of nature walks into the quiet countryside from our doorstep, as well as further afield. The cottage is less than 2 miles from the small picturesque market town of Helmsley - with its castle, walled gardens, spa hotel facilities, heated outdoor swimming pool in summer (closed 2020), numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants and small supermarket. Ryedale Cottage is popular with couples of all ages, families and single visitors - often keen walkers, cyclists or visitors wanting to spend time in the North York Moors and surrounding areas. Popular attractions for children include Helmsley Castle, the Pickering/North York Moors Steam Railway, Go Ape at Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land, and the chocolate and Viking experiences at York. York is less than 25 miles away and has been voted Britains most popular city due to its castle, walls, museums, shops and Minster; it is particularly popular with our guests whatever the weather. We are within easy reach of the North Yorkshire coast (Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay), Pickering, and Castle Howard. We are a stones throw from Ampleforth Abbey, The White Horse at Kilburn and the stunning views of Sutton Bank. The picturesque steam railway from Pickering crosses Goathland/Heartbeat country to the coast at Whitby; Flamingo Land (near Malton) offers a different kind of day out - with its zoo and theme park. There is a wide choice of traditional pubs in surrounding villages (details of menus and discounts for guests are available) and Helmsley hosts a number of cafes, restaurants (Indian, Italian), and pubs, including a micro-brewery. Many of Helmsley's amenities welcome dogs. Local taxi service available if needed. We provide bed linen, towels, tea towels as well as essentials to get you started including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, and soap. If Ryedale is not available or you are wanting to bring your pet dog(s), please take a look at our other cottages (sproxtonhallcottages.co.uk): Kirkdale Cottage (newly renovated, sleeps 5, dog friendly), Riccal Dale Cottage (newly renovated, sleeps 4, dog friendly) and Bilsdale Cottage (sleeps 4 and also modernised with new furniture, dog friendly). Lovely place to stay, well kept, clean and friendly hosts Dave and Helen, nearby. Great view over the hills, nice short walk (5km) to Helmsley. Plenty of other walks in this beautiful area.Cottage is warm, bed is comfy. Unfortunately not cold enough to try out the log burner!

What a lovely stay, the accommodation was as advertised, clean and comfortable set in beautiful countryside on the edge of a village but close to some pretty villages and towns. The host was very helpful and informative, would stay again and recommend especially to anyone with mobility issues as all on one level.

We had a great time on holiday in Yorkshire, the cottage was clean bright with a lovely outlook and grounds. The only negative was that the main bedroom was a bit small. However, this did not spoil our stay as the cottage made up for this in other ways.

Communications with Dave and Helen were really easy. The cottage was very clean and in a very peaceful location. Dave and Helen are doing EVERYTHING they can to clean the properties and make sure they are COVID free. We felt very safe and relaxed.

Cosy well equipped single story accomadasion in quite location with excellent views over nearby countryside, and only a five minute drive from Helmsley, Only downside was that the sofas where a squeeze to seat four people , and the bathroom lacked a extractor fan.

A lovely property. The location was great for exploring York, the seaside and the Dales. Beds were comfortable and we really enjoyed the opportunity to have a fire in the evening.

An absolutely wonderful property perfectly located for three of us to explore the North Yorks. Cottage had everything you needed and if anything the location was to perfect to get out and explore and we never really stayed long enough to enjoy what was on the doorstep. The owners were fantastic and happy to give advice and answer our questions. We visit the area regularly so next time the whole family will be coming.

Dave couldn't have been nicer! We stayed a bit later than check out time and it was no trouble. Dave had also left us a lovely bottle of wine. The cottage itself is modern and clean but still with plenty of character. The location is perfect, sandwiched beyween two villages both of which have plenty of food/ pub options. Would stay again :)
