Great location and convenience for a fishing trip. Might be leaving on the term rustic little too heavy. Bath tub and shower need major attention. Furniture could use an upgrade as well. Idea location just really needs some TLC.

The location was perfect with the best sunrise views. The ability to tie up at the dock made our stay so easy. We couldn’t get in as the cleaner was there until 4:30. She was nice and made sure we knew how to use the entry lock. The property is gray and the bald eagles were awesome to listen to and watch. There is tv and cable that works very well. The bed was comfortable too. The check-in email was also very helpful. We loved our stay but there were concerns with the house. The house is older with some rustic charm but definitely needs some repair and attention. There was a smell of wetness/ mildew when we walked in covered by a strong cleaning chemical. The tile floor leading into the kitchen is cracked and sinking, especially by the refrigerator, but covered with a rug. There’s a noticeable dip when walking over the spot. There was what appeared to be mildew stains in the kitchen ceiling. The windows do not open well if at all, and all the screens were dirty with cobwebs. The porch sitting room also smelled mildew. The bathroom ceiling tiles were drooping and had signs of mold. The shower walls are bowed outward from suspected water damage. The deck, picnic tables, and dock are in dire need of power washing or replacing. The dock had old fireworks left on it and trash left near the ski-doo. Looking through the boat house window, there definitely is a partially sunken bass boat in the boat house. With some repairs, the property would be perfect.

Perfect location and beautiful property. Will be back to this one. Secluded and relaxing. The wildlife and a couple of sweet neighboring dogs made for a wonderful weekend. This spot is popular for a reason. Hope we can bring the kayaks next time. Thank you for a great getaway!

Everything was good for the stay. The only issue was getting boat backed in. Anything longer than 21 foot boat may not fit. Other than that this is a very nice place to stay and awesome view.

Joyce was welcoming and responsive when we had a question. The cabin is old but it was clean and everything worked as it should. We love the location and that it is also pet friendly. Our dogs enjoyed the stay as much as we did. This was our second time staying at Bishops Bay, we will be returning.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. I love rustic and this was rustic with a lot of character. I live how the house was decorated. The views of the lake were absolutely breathtaking. The sunrise on the lake was soothing. The beds were comfortable. Some might take issue that some things are dated and need some work. The beauty and rustic vibes totally made it for us. We will stay here again.

Host was responsive and polite. House was older and could use some updated amenities. Property was peaceful and beautiful this time of year. House was clean but older. Had to hunt for 3 prong outlets, fans were older and in need of some updating and working light bulbs. Bathroom needs a new shower curtain, probably a curved one as the tub area is very confining. But the stay was nice and cozy and we had a good time. Would stay again, we are just spoiled city folk.

We had a wonderful time! This is our third visit. The home is older but is very comfortable. The view of the water is perfect and the deck and patio are great for bird watching. We have observed Eagles nesting each time we have visited as well as many water fowl, backyard birds and owls. The bed was also very comfortable! We look forward to returning soon. The bathroom has some recent damage but the owner is addressing that. Ms. Bishop communicates well and is available if needed. This home is perfect for our needs. We appreciate getting to enjoy the peaceful environment and simple restful privacy this home offers.

For me the shower was just gross. Old shower curtain with unwashed plastic liner unexceptionable. Place was comfortable and clean but home needs lots of work. Lights in living room one light bulb worked out of 5 and the kitchen lights did not work (the manager offered to have son come look at them but we declined and grabbed a lamp from the living room). Great location on the lake.

The view was gorgeous. My daughters had a great time fishing off the dock. The home was older and needs some maintenance and a deep clean, but it was comfortable and worked for us. There was a problem with the coffeemaker the first morning and the owner worked diligently to fix the issue. The kids are already asking when we’re going back.

Quiet neighborhood away from the busy cities but not too far of a drive to shopping and restaurants. Driveway is tight turning in with a large boat and cricle drive is tight turning a large boat around. House did sustain some storm damage before we arrived, that we was made aware of beforehand. Once repairs are made it will be a very inexpensive nice place to stay on the lake.

This place has been extremely let go. The yard and woods around the house need cleaned out. The house is a little outdated but not terrible. None of the windows shut correctly. The bathroom was covered in mold. The ceiling was falling out in the bathroom and had major water damage and has caused mold. The walls of the shower were buckled in. Water dripped out of everything so we had bugs all week. The dock had broken boards and looked like the boats in the boat house have sunk.

Before you book, this is an older cabin, so be aware and don’t judge it for being older. It’s cozy and comfortable. Of course it needs some fixing here and there, but what doesn’t? Mainly the bathroom, but it functions as it should. The air conditioning works very well!! The cabin is right on the water. If you have a boat trailer it’s harder to maneuver in and out of the driveway, but it can be done. There’s a washer and dryer if needed. Plus internet and all the different apps for television/movies. Communication with the host was great! She kept us up to date and really wanted our experience to go well. We enjoyed our stay.

This location is stunning. My husband and I have stayed at “fancier” vacation rentals, yet there is something charming about this place that will keep us coming back. For the price, this is a great getaway. The location is serene, private, and quiet. Our goldendoodles had the times of their lives. They were able to jump in the water and splash around. Also, the water pressure was something to write home about as well. Perfect for cleaning pups after a day of frolicking by the lake. The kitchen has plenty of space if you have cooking in mind.

I rented this property for a weekend getaway at the lake with my wife and daughter and was pretty disappointed at the condition it was in. It smelled musty, the bathroom sink is barely hanging on to the wall, there is mold and water spots on the ceiling, the floor is soft in some spots, and the outside was falling apart with weeds taking over. If the owner would just invest a little money to update and fix this place up a bit it would be an awesome rental. There's a reason why it's one of the cheapest rentals on the lake.

Rustic is an appropriate descriptor. And it was accurately described in the listing. It would be helpful if the light switches were labeled. I was unable to get the lights on in the driveway. The one statement in the listing that I disagree with is the statement that it is handicap accessible. I disagree. The front entry is sloped toward the door and there is no handrail. Also the broken tiles at the entrance to the kitchen offer awkward footing. And the threshold between the kitchen and the living room would definitely be a tripping hazard for a person with mobility issues. Also check-in time is listed at 4:00 and yet the cleaning lady was still there until nearly 4:40.

We traveled down for a few days with our elderly dog, to begin her bucket list: rented pontoon boat for a water-loving canine. The lake house was accommodating and the lot safe for walking around. Bear in mind that this is an old house with many years on her, in the middle of the woods, and expectations should match that. The friendly host has cheery rustic signage, clean linens, comfortable, well-worn furniture, a proper table for meals inside and two picnic benches outside. Elli (pup) enjoyed basking in the sunlight on the pier while we took the river view in, and sitting with her humans on the patio. I in turn noted all the native plants that survive the dry terrain — it would be lovely to see all the clematis in bloom during the springtime. (I’m a gardener, so I always look around.) Muscadine was ripe and birds feeding from it while we were there. If bringing kids, watch for the loons to dip and sunning turtles to climb up onto a log and then slide back into the water. When you’re chilling, it’s the little things… Be prepared for a few hours, intermittently, of mosquito swarm…in full force and then gone again. Water, woodland; again to be expected. Also late night/early morn, woodland insects will be a’flurry. The road into the residential area is one lane with many soft shoulders, so drive slowly, considerately and be aware of the custom to pull to the side if you can depending on the area you are in (and who can do what). You’ll get there…on lake time.

It was explained that this was an older cabin by the lake so we did not get our expectations up but what was not said is that it was very poorly maintained. There are safety hazards that you should be made aware of. Outside the door a tree that is very rotten at the base leans on the main power lines into the house. When it falls and it will, it will go through the roof and into one of the bedrooms. If in that room when that happens someone will get hurt badly. Another issue is a very soft floor at the fridge that a person could potentially fall through. Missing window panes in the french doors. The dock and pier was another hazard. I could go on and on. We did not feel very safe in this house. We will not return.
