Stayed Nov 28, 2025Everything was great for our three night stay which has been a tradition each Nov/Dec for the past three years. Everything in the bachelor suite was great, clean and in good shape. When we had some challenges with our toilet on our last day, Mike was at the site and came quickly to try to fix it. When that wasn't possible, we were offered the opportunity to stay in the house for our last night. Of course we were delighted to accept this offer and enjoyed the house to the maximum, especially the beautiful staircase, sun room, piano, comfortable bedrooms and the pool table in the lower level as well as the direct access to the swimming pool! Thanks so much for this incredible upgrade for our last night. The kids were so happy to enjoy the house.

Stayed Aug 22, 2025I lovely place to stay. The property is close to all the Sydney area activities while being out of town with quiet ,peaceful surroundings. The property is dated and its age is showing. Trim and paint need a refresh and the doors need oiling. The pool was nice but also showing its age. The Bachelor area is up a narrow stairs with a door right at the top which is initially awkward to enter. The door itself is wood and frosted glass which seems nice till someone downstairs turns the light on at 1am. The bank of switches should be labeled. You hear the noises from the pool, which has a sign up system! And no place to hang up wet swimwear. The beds and linens while clean were in need of a refresh. If you roll over the squeaking and shaking of the bed is going to wake your partner. Coffee pods but no salt and pepper. Only area out doors to sit is down by the water, where there s a mix of old or cracked lawn furniture. You need to be staying in the main house to use the deck (rightly cause its off the front windows) but its a big property and a nice little area nearer the house or infront of the pool house could be set up for the other 2 units. The BBQ for the 2 units is old and was probably cleaned in spring but never oiled or cleaned since. So rust and spiders were its main features. While all this is minor we were paying a lot for the stay. Victoria was very understanding when we were facing the cancellation of our Air Canada flights. And Mike was friendly.

Stayed Oct 1, 2024We wish we could live at Rita’s retreat all the time! Our room was nice and cozy. The backyard is so spacious and peaceful all the way down to the water. The indoor saltwater pool was icing on the cake! Mike was very accommodating, helpful and fun to talk to— I recommend Rita’s Retreat!

Stayed Jul 10, 2024We loved the location of this property as it was the center spot of where our family lives. The yard was nice as we brought our pup with us. Based on the listing that the property was on the lake we were looking forward to him being able to swim, yet were told NO by the locals as it is a duck itch water spot. The room was spacious and clean (we stayed in the Bachelor unit), however the mattresses could be replaced. I'm not sure why rentals feel that hard beds are the way to go. If we stay again I would bring mattress toppers just in case.
