Groton, Connecticut
This newly renovated, historic 1 BR/1 Bath former school house, is located directly on the Mystic River with amazing River views. . It started life as a one room school house. In 1857, it was moved to it's current location. Our design team meticulously furnished to create a unique historic atmosphere.
Sure, we're biased. But this cottage has the best of both worlds: sunlit indoor rooms, meticulously restored and furnished to embrace its history as a school house, plus outdoor space for entertaining, reading, or just lying around. There are great views of the Mystic River. The cottage, a restored, historic school house, also has a fully stocked kitchen and washer/dryer. There is WI-FI, TV with Amazon Plus so you can stream your favorite movies and shows. The family and dining areas are spacious and cozy. We are located on the river, across from the Seaport and very near the famous drawbridge.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire cottage. Guests also have access to a great outside garden area with umbrellas, tables, chairs, BBQ grill, and amazing River views. We also have bikes and Kayaks that are available to guests as well. It is important to note, the bathroom and Queen bed are located up stairs. The ceilings are very low on 2nd floor. The cottage is behind the main house, which is also available. It is, however, completely separate with its own full kitchen, washer dryer, and entrance. There is also ample parking.
House was exactly as advertised except closer to town than we thought! Perfect space for 2 adults and a Cocker Spaniel. We booked next year before we left!
We love the property, its location, and we had a great time and perfect weather.
Stay was very nice as it always is in Mystic. Home was ideally located, clean, and well stocked. My wife and I are both in our 70's. Stairs to second floor bedroom , bathroom were steep and difficult to climb. Second Floor ceilings were extremely low and we bumped our heads a number of times.
Went on a brief getaway to Mystic and the only down side was we only got to stay 2 nights in the Schoolhouse. Amazing location! Right in the middle of Mystic, but set back just enough to be quiet. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!
This location is ideal for a couple to enjoy all things Mystic has to offer! It is literally right in downtown, but on a side street overlooking the Mystic River and drawbridge. Peaceful yet steps away from the hustle and bustle of what has become a highly trafficked area. Having off-street parking was SUCH a great feature, along with the outdoor seating overlooking the water, fully equipped accommodations (towels, soaps, spices, grill) and very responsive host! The only note to add is the 1 bathroom is located upstairs and the ceilings are a little low/slanted due to age and design of house. While you could technically sleep 4 in this location, it may be a bit tight from the bathroom perspective. Overall great find - will be booking again in the future!
Relaxing midweek three-night stay for a quieter setting. The late spring weather couldn't be better. The accommodations anticipated our needs with pleasant sleeping quarters, comfortable seating, a well-appointed kitchen, and privacy. Every morning we enjoyed walking along the Mystic River across from the seaport and through lovely old neighborhoods with wonderfully preserved New England homes. Being a block from Main St. with all its shops and restaurants was so convenient. We're frequent visitors to the area, but the old schoolhouse is easily our favorite place to stay.
Great property for small family and unbeatable location close to downtown.
The house was immaculate and right off Main St. Very comfortable bed. We didn't use the kitchen but it seemed to have all the necessities. Would definitely stay again
Such a sweet little cottage in a perfect location. Very clean, including linens and towels, perfect for a cute getaway!
