The house was charming and had a nice country feel to it, and location location location! Nice quiet hub spot away from the hustle and bustle of Ocean City, but still only a 10 minute drive to get there, and only 12 minutes to Assateague Island. There is a Walmart Supercenter and a Food Lion only about 5 minutes in either direction so stocking up the essentials was very easy as well. The hot tub was awesome and the pool and firepit were both fun additions. Why only 4 stars? The home needs some minor fixups (pool hose and ladder, leaning couch, bathroom blinds) all easily fixable, and the Vacasa contractor, Joe, did come out to address the pool ladder immediately and was VERY polite and pleasant. Would I stay there again? Absolutely! We will be looking to book with one of the owner's other properties as well!
They need to update. Pool, not filled to capacity and the support for the pool wall is broken. Looks like it’s been broken for more than a year. The ladder is unsafe, stopped the kids from using the pool. Pointed it out to maintenance guy and asked that it be replaced or fixed…. Never got a response, nor was it fixed after he said he would call it in..Toaster was broken, apparently according to another review it’s been that way since March. The front porch was unusable as the windows were missing and no screens, so the bugs ……. Made the best of it, though 799$ In fees paid to VaCasa is a joke if you are not monitoring the homes. The pool and ladder are not safe and you are being exposed to liability issues. We stopped our kids from using the pool in order to prevent an injury. The house needs a refresh. We made the best of it and if updated would love to come back.
TLDR: House is old (in not a cute way), broken (or one strong breeze from being broken), cheap, and possibly dangerous. Complaints in previous reviews not fixed. The hot tub was ice cold the whole weekend (our main reason for picking this house - please don't pick it expecting to use the hot tub). Full review: This house is thoroughly meh. As soon as we arrived we nicknamed the house Tilty because the house leans so much. There is obvious structural damage that would never pass an inspection. I don't know if it is safe or not, but I also know that there are nails in the steps (stepped on them several times, hopefully they weren't rusty or had someone else's blood on them), and the floors are extremely uneven. Our guess is this is a house someone inherited and knew they couldn't sell and no one wanted to live in it so they covered up things with bright paint and decided to rent it out. All the furniture is fairly barebones/ cheap/old except maybe the kitchen table. Some parts of it felt like the owners hadn't visited in years - entire windows and screens missing in the 1st sun room letting wind and bugs in, wood pealing off the walls and sticking out, and everything was extremely cheaply made. The name of the game of this place is It looks nice, but don't touch or it could break. Also the other sun room was filled with junk, so we couldn't use either of the sun rooms. The heat is via floor boards that are sometimes hard to reach, but I don't recommend staying in winter at all. We visited end of March and were still cold. There is not central AC, just window units for parts of the house (not the whole house). The doors will blow open if not deadlocked (hard to do when you're inside and outside). Past reviews mentioned the toaster being broken - it still is, and there are still only 2 spoons and zero forks and knives. I had thought that the owners would read the reviews and fix the situation, but they clearly don't care. Don't expect anything written in this review or any others to be fixed by the time you rent this. The house is not equipped enough for cooking, so bring your own supplies. We were able to still have a nice trip despite the flaws of the house, but would not choose to stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone else. Ocean City itself, including the boardwalk and restaurants were enjoyable. It looks pretty in the pictures, but we recommend you stay elsewhere.
The house is cute and comfortable, and convenient to Assateague, Berlin and Ocean City. We didn't do any cooking (because there are some great places to eat in Berlin), so I don't know how well appointed the kitchen is. The beds are comfy, rooms are good sizes, nicely decorated. The kids loved having the attic space to themselves.
The hot tub was what drew us to this property. Worked well the first day, but the 2nd day we had found the heating element had shut off & when we figured out how to turn it back on, we realized it would've taken hours to warm up to the desired temp again. Somewhat disappointing. Also, paper supplies were at a bare minimum, as well as kitchen utensils & pots/pans. Only 3 spoons in the entire house, no other utensils! Otherwise a welcoming & comfortable stay.
First off, hot tub was amazing and super clean (such an amazing bonus for the house)! The yard was super cool and can’t wait to hopefully come back and use it in the summer. The house was nice, but if you’re tall you’ll have a tough time upstairs as the ceilings are quite low. Beds are all very nice and firm. House smelled very clean and looked great upon arrival. My only complaint was the kitchen. The toaster is broken, there’s no where to make ice, not a lot of glasses to use (I did appreciate the plastic ones to use outdoors tho!), and there were no oven cooking supplies (pans, Pyrex, etc). Definitely a bare bone house, so bring oil/salt/pepper etc. when coming. Overall, super great for a little weekend away and love how close it is to beach and assateague.
The backyard is an oasis. We really really enjoyed our stay here. Multiple TVs let everyone choose what they wanted to watch. The kids loved the attic. Great location, 20 min to ocean city.
This place is everything it is advertised. Old house gives that nice antique feeling, yet up to date with appliances and everything else. Everything was very clean for us when we got there and check in process was a breeze. Also out back is a cool area to hang out and the hot tub is very nice. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a very nice relaxing time, the neighborhood very quiet and the hot tub was wonderful. The only negative comments I can make is the toaster didn’t work and the listing stated there was a hair dryer but couldn’t find it. They are very minor things, again overall a nice place to stay.
