The view is incredible. The cottage is charming, especially when the wood fireplace is roaring. There were lots of games to play, the kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and pots and pans. Steve was great to communicate with. Bring hand towels and as well as bath towels.

View on both front and rear decks which was amazing.Tranquility just what we were looking for.Felt at home, relaxing and quiet just what we needed.Watching the deer so close amazing.

The perfect family winter getaway at your rustic and cozy cottage. It was incredibly relaxing and peaceful, with beautiful views in every direction and the joy of seeing wildlife. We enjoyed so many wonderful winter activities—sledding on the local trails and lakes, skating at Arrowhead, ice fishing, and taking in the stunning scenery. Evenings were spent by cozy fires and enjoying family game nights, all while having the comforts of home. We were lucky to have great weather and truly cherished every moment. Steve was very personable and easy to deal with and message at anytime. Thank you so much for having us—we can’t wait to come back!

The property was amazing, and Steve was extremely friendly, organized, and helpful. The cottage was clean, and had lovely spaces and views. The view of the lake was gorgeous.

Everything was exactly as described and pictured in the listing. Cottage was very clean and comfy. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you’d need. With its close proximity to Huntsville it would be a great cottage if you wanted to dine out or needed anything in town. Also a great location to access Algonquin Park. Steve, the host, was quick to respond to our questions as well. Our girls weekend was a hit! Just wish we could have stayed longer to fully enjoy all the amenities! Kathryn

This lovely property sits in the perfect spot close to Huntsville and close to the West entrance of Algonquin park. Everything was in good repair, the beds comfortable, and the setting in the forest with an easy walk down a few steps to the private dock was just right. Very enjoyable.

Our stay at Steve's cottage last week was nothing short of magical. The highlight, without a doubt, was the **absolutely spectacular sunset view over Penn Lake, right from the private dock. Winding down each evening watching the sky explode in color over the calm water was an unforgettable experience – a view truly rare to find and worth the trip alone!The lake itself felt alive and welcoming. We loved watching the big fish swimming right under the deck and were charmed daily by a sweet family of ducks cruising peacefully along the shore. The sight of a huge pike lurking nearby sparked our fishing enthusiasm (though sadly, our gear wasn't quite up to the challenge this time – next visit we'll come prepared!).The cottage itself was perfect. Steve has clearly put thought into making guests comfortable. It was exceptionally well-stocked with everything we could possibly need for our week-long stay, from kitchen essentials to the big collection of good old movies. It truly felt like a home away from home.Location is a major plus! The proximity to Huntsville meant easy access to groceries, shops, and restaurants whenever needed. Even better, being so close to the Algonquin Park hiking trails allowed us to effortlessly combine serene lakeside relaxation with adventurous wilderness exploration – the best of both worlds! Definitely, we’ll come back in the fall.

Lovely, quiet area surrounded by nature, wonderful very comfortable cottage with everything required. Lake clear and peaceful. Host great. Easy drive into Dwight or Huntsville. Will hopefully return next summer, thanks for a perfect holiday.

We have been coming here for years and it always feels like coming home! We especially love to sit on the screened porch and play games. The dock is great and there is always some shade for those of us who burn. This year there were paddleboards and the kids (who are all 30 something) had a blast!

This is our second time at this property. Our first visit was during winter (to enjoy winter sports at Arrowhead), and this time we visited by early summer with the whole family.The cottage is beautiful and super cozy for couples and larger families alike. We had a great time enjoying the outdoors, canoeing and fishing by the lake. The hosts are also the best. I have a feeling that visiting Idlehour will become a family tradition for us!

Once again, we really enjoyed our stay at the cottage on PenLake. It was nice seeing the lake in a different season. It’s a perfect place to be surrounded by nature, and a beautiful lake for a quiet paddle. We stayed at the property in late April to allow us to explore Algonquin Park for wildlife photography. The cottage was perfect; great location between Algonquin Park and Huntsville. The cottage was just as described. After one night we felt totally at home. Steve was great with communication and making sure it was easy to just relax without worrying about anything.

We had a great stay, and will definitely be back. The cottage is in a beautiful location, is large and comfortable with two fireplaces, and it is close to hiking, towns, restaurants, and anything else you could want.

Steve was a great communicator, and the cottage was beautiful. The location on the lake had no one nearby and was great for walking the dog.I will absolutely book this cottage again for a trip with my buddies, but I think also for a trip with my with kids. Beautiful, relaxing location with excellent views of the frozen lake and forest. Large and well-equipped lake house. Easy access to the water. Very secluded and private lot, yet only 10 minutes from Huntsville. Photos don’t do it justice.

The perfect getaway! Everything about our stay was great! The cottage was spotless, more than enough space, and each room had it’s own theme with a warm and cozy vibe! We enjoyed skating on the lake, long walks, and just sitting out on the frozen lake enjoying the quiet and sunshine! Our host was very prompt, helpful and very accommodating. Would love to return again!

This was an amazing cottage, the facilities were clean and fully stocked. The lake and property were beautiful and it is located close to both Arrowhead provincial park and Algonquin provincial park. Steve was a great host and communicated effectively, the cottage was also very intentionally outfitted. I would recommend it to anyone booking and will be sure to return!

Rustic cottage in a perfect location. 15 minute drive to Huntsville and about 25 minutes to Algonquin Park. Has everything you need including lots of firewood, a well equipped kitchen, and a BBQ. Could use a dishwasher and a TV station or two would be nice for the rainy days. View of the lake is great and it was very quiet. Stairs could be challenging for some people. Steve was quick to respond to questions which was an added bonus. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a real cottage experience close to amenities and the park.

Steve was a wonderful host. The property was absolutely gorgeous. So peaceful and relaxing, the most amazing get away spot. Still close to grocery stores and really nice shops.Great place for a dog and my little pup had a great time. Can’t wait to come back. Thanks again Steve!

Homey and spacious house on a beautiful lake. Short drive from huntsville and arrowhead provincial park. Well stocked kitchen for groups. Gorgeous views from inside and out and peaceful hangouts on the dock, deck or screened in second floor patio.

My spouse and I stayed at the cottage and found it very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and having access to the lake (canoe) was delightful. We encountered two loons on the lake who entertained us with their calls. This cottage would make a wonderful place for a larger group or family with children. It was clean, and had everything necessary (bring your own sheets and towels) and fast WiFi.

Great location, but the property needs updating, and overall cleanliness could be improved. However we had a great stay.

We loved the property! It was great for our group of 5 friends looking to relax together by the lake and still be close to the amenities of Huntsville. Lovely sandy waterfront and nice long dock with views of the sunset! We were comfortable in the cottage and also enjoyed the fire pit and walking trail along the water. Extra thanks to Steve for filling the bird feeder so we could be washing the dishes with a Bluejay right in front of us.

This was our 3rd stay at this property. Clean and well equipped. 2 paddle boards and a canoe available for guest use. Great location in close proximity to Huntsville/Dwight/Dorset/Algonquin Park. Good dock (we have a 19' bowrider). Boat launch at TallyHo is good and a short 10 min drive away. Boating is great with access to Fairy, Mary & Vernon. Lots of firewood provided. Steve is a great host quick to respond to any questions. No complaints! We will be back again!

Our family had an excelent week at Steve's cottage. Great location on a quiet lane. The cottage was very relaxing with a great dock and swimming. The cottage was well equipped. Steve was very responsive and went above and beyond as a host. Highly recommned the cottage.

We've rented several vacation properties on Peninsula Lake over the years. We love the 4-chain lake and its proximity to Huntsville and Algonquin Park, and were looking to relax on a dock and spend time Seadooing and roasting marshmallows. The Moffat's property did not disappoint! Warm and welcoming, the cottage is truly a cottage (you can almost hear the whispers of past cottagers... or is that the wind in the trees?). Well-appointed and clean, with plenty of sleeping accommodation and touches of whimsy all over the place, the cottage and its grounds were fun to explore. We loved the screened-in porch... such a peaceful spot to spend an evening! All in all, a wonderful week. We'll be back! Thanks to the Moffats for hosting!
