Little Compton, Rhode Island
Cute Cape cottage with a sun room and outdoor private patio. House has a huge yard with an ocean view of Town beach. The house is on a dead end, one lane road with light traffic for more quiet. The living room has a fireplace for a chilly evening. Little Compton is very quiet and peaceful. The front yard is huge and is very private behind the house where there is a fenced in outside hot & cold shower. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a queen size on the bottom and a twin on the top. There are 2 bathrooms one with a tub/shower and the other with a shower. There is a washer/dryer in the basement. Floors are hardwood and have been refinished except the kitchen which has ceramic tile. You can see the town beach from the house and there is also a town 'dog beach' on Sakonnet point which you can use.
Little Compton is a very safe town off the beaten path with excellent restaurants. Some PLACES OF INTEREST are the Commons, The Sakonnet Wine Vineyards (daily tours, and tasting), and Newport. Daytrips to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Block Island are reasonable. Two nearby wineries and a brewery to visit. The town has 2 beaches. One can be seen from the house and the other is a Dog beach at Sakonnet point for the pooches to swim at.
WALKING, BICYCLING, and ROLLER BLADING are a joy on the flat, beautiful roads and paths in Little Compton (bring your own equipment)! There are TENNIS courts in town, near the common which are rarely used and available to summer residents. There is also a playground for children to use in town. GOLF is 15 miles away in Portsmouth. Newport is a short drive away with it's tours of the local mansions, restaurants, shops and beautiful ocean walk.
The location is amazing- very quiet, safe streets with a view to the ocean and beach. The house is very comfortable- the primary bedroom especially. The owner/ manager lives very close and responded to a kitchen issue within an hour, and the problem was solved the next morning! It required a plumber. The lawn is great for kids to play. The internet was very spotty and sometimes didnt work at all, though ive heard thats common in this area. I did feel the house could use a bit more of an in depth cleaning- it was mostly fine but the tub and closets could use some attention. Still much better than other places we've stayed though!
We came back to this property and had another wonderful stay. The house is very comfortable and clean. It has everything: plenty of towels, even beach towels, three showers, including an outdoor shower. You can see the ocean from the yard and the windows. It's less than a mile from one of the most beautiful beaches in New England. You will love it here.
The house is small and quite cute. However, the house needs some serious maintenance. The garage door barely works & would not shut after a few days. The sliding doors leading to the patio are impossible to open/close if you are trying to carry food out. It is obvious that the Owners never visit the property. The property manager is very helpful & he lives very close by.
Good location
We had an amazing week in Little Compton. This house is perfectly located in a neighborhood near the beach where we could take walks and our daughter could ride her bike. We loved the big yard and the outdoor shower!
We had a great experience top to bottom, and hope to return soon! We had been looking for something close to South Shore beach, one of our favorites in the state, and this was a perfect biking distance away. Our son loved the local wildlife (bunnies and birds galore!) and we made lots of memories at the beach and local woods trails.
We enjoyed our stay. The grill was terrific and a well appointed kitchen. We brought our bikes and found lovely rides on local roads. Norm was great to deal with. We’d go again. Rob and Gail
Very comfortable
Three showers, including one outdoors. Two full baths. Plenty of bath towels and beach towels. Beach chairs. Clothesline in a sunny spot. Large yard. Washer and dryer and laundry detergent. Dishwasher. Olive oil and coffee filters in the pantry. Ocean view. Less than a mile from the beach. I had a very special vacation here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks here. The location is perfect Dash close to the beach and on a very quiet street which was great for our daughter and the dog. Norm and Pat were very responsive and Norm even stopped over to help us when he saw a struggling with the garage door. My daughter loved the bunkbeds so much she didn’t want to leave. We usually stay with my family further inland so this was a real treat to be close to the water and to see a new part of Little Compton. Finding a dog friendly home was a real bonus!
