Welcome to the cottage, where you can kick back, relax, and appreciate down time, Southern-style. Whether you're a kayaker interested in exploring Eastern NC waterways, a family visiting a loved one at Camp LeJeune, or a couple wanting a romantic refuge, the cottage at Cedar Point can provide a wonderful base for a few days or more. Working remotely or have children in remote schooling We have high speed internet and lovely places to work from with great views. Your well-behaved dog can join you!

Enjoy the lounge furniture on the front porch with a lovely sunset view. Stretch out with a novel (or take a snooze) in the hammock on the screened porch, where you’re looking out on the White Oak River. When feeling more ambitious, you can put in kayaks and paddle toward the marshes of Croatan National Forest, or around the bend and under the Swansboro bridge, across the Intracoastal Waterway, and out toward Bear Island State Park. The cottage is located one (empty) lot from the White Oak River. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive to the public beach at Emerald Isle, or to the scenic Tideland Trail of Croatan National Forest.

Ride your bikes to Swansboro just back over the bridge. Swansboro is an historic fishing village with a beautiful and quaint waterfront downtown. A few of our favorites in downtown Swansboro: dinner or brunch at The Boro; classic diner breakfast at Yana's (with Elvis flair); ice cream on the second-story deck at Bake, Bottle & Brew (keep an eye out for dolphins!); lunch at Church Street Pub (or get takeout and pack the sandwiches for the beach!); date night at Il Cigno's Italian restaurant; breakfast bagels at Giovanni's (try the Spicy Sofia!); live music on the dock at Saltwater Grill; browsing nautical treasures and antiques at Poor Man's Hole; and exploring lots of other lovely shops!

Close by in Cedar Point is 34 North - a great spot for those looking to unwind with outdoor games, craft beer pouring system, and usually a food truck. If you're the wine type, check out nearby Christina's Wine Boutique for a glass of wine and pick up a unique bottle from their curated selection. The kids will love putt putt, bowling, games and more at nearby MacDaddy's, a boat trip to Shark Tooth Island to collect shells and shark teeth, or a day trip to the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

Inside the cottage, WOW! There are vaulted ceilings, beachy colors, lots of windows, shiplap, restored original heart pine floors in living room and kitchen, and heritage plank flooring in the bedrooms. Ceiling fans in every room and on the front and side porches. Dining room table seats 6. Great collection of puzzles, games, books, and DVD library. Large comfy sofa for the whole family to relax. Internet access; TV with Roku in living room and TV with Chromecast in master bedroom.

Master bedroom has a comfy firm king-sized bed; master bath has a large jacuzzi and walk-in shower with two shower heads. The shower includes a steam generator, which is especially nice in cooler weather. Second bedroom has two twin beds; second bath has a combo tub/shower. Linens and bath towels are provided (please bring your own beach towels).

If you’re inclined to cook, you’ll enjoy the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen. We have a propane grill available on the side deck. And you won’t find seafood fresher than the fish sold at Clyde’s, between the two bridges on the way to Swansboro.

We have three sea kayaks (one double and two singles; includes paddles and lifejackets) and four adult beach bikes with locks (BYO helmets) — kayaks & bikes available for rent upon request. If interested, please inquire and we can add this to your reservation.

We allow a maximum of 4 guests. The house is a no-smoking zone. Ours is a quiet neighborhood, so please, no house parties. The yard is not fully fenced, but you can walk your dog along the road, which borders the river.

We believe that Y'all means ALL, and are intentionally inclusive in welcoming guests without regard to race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, or political affiliation.

If you love the coast and are looking for a quiet place to stay for a few days, we hope you'll inquire about the cottage. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, or to suggest things that could improve your visit.

CAMERA DISCLOSURE: We have a Ring doorbell on the front door. Aside from the Ring doorbell on the front door, we do not have cameras at the property (inside or outside). We trust our guests to take care of the property and treat it as their own.

We had an enjoyable stay. Very comfortable and cozy home. We lived in the area 10 years ago and was visiting friends. It felt like we were at home. It was relaxing. We enjoyed the location of the property. We hope to stay again soon.

Very cute cottage that was a perfect fit! My daughter and I were able to relax in one of our favorite vacation spots with our dog worry free. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and close to everything.

Beautiful place, family and pet friendly. The kayaks and bikes were a great perk and location was close to everything. Our boys are already begging to return before the summer ends.

This was our 2nd time staying here. It is in a great location for us. We love going to Hammocks beach. It is a quiet neighborhood. It was nice and clean. Was well stocked for cooking. Had fans, which we are used to sleeping with. Only thing I could have wished for was roku in the bedroom, which if it had it I could not figure it out, might be user error.

First of all, fantastic communication with the owners! The cottage could not have been more perfect or better suited for our needs! We had the best, relaxing stay. Cottage is close to everything but tucked away just enough to feel serene and private. All amenities were perfect and exceptionally clean. Cannot wait to stay here again!

We cannot say enough good things about this adorable cottage! Such a well thought out use of the square footage, tastefully decorated, with such a nice vibe & good energy! So well planned and thought out, it has a beautiful flow and great light. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot, and the kitchen was nicely equipped. The outdoor areas were great, water view was surprisingly nice, and the grounds were beautiful. This place totally exceeded our expectations! The owners should be proud of this little gem! Only suggestion I could make would be to perhaps have porch lights on a timer. We arrived after sundown and having a welcoming bit of exterior light would have been most appreciated. SO glad we picked this house for our time in Cedar Point!

The beach cottage was comfortable, beautifully decorated, had a great floor plan with restful porches. Everything needed was provided for the stay. The setting was quiet and easy to find. The hosts had identified what was necessary for getting to know the surrounding areas in terms of activities, stores and restaurants.

This was the most adorable cottage. It was very warm and welcoming. The decor was beautiful. Fantastic location. Even though I did not use the bikes or kayaks, I loved that they were available. It was also wonderful to be able to take my little dog with me. The large Jacuzzi tub and the steam shower were some nice luxurious additions. I will definitely stay at this property again next time I’m in the area.

Wonderful House with everything that you could possibly need. Everything was clean and even though we only communicated with the owner once they got back to us within minutes. It was super that our fur baby was able to come as well. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the area but that was due to the weather and had nothing to do with the owners as they even provided various cans of bug spray.

On arrival the unit was hot and humid. We lower the AC and gave time for it to cool down. By the time it was close to midnight, only the fan was working. On top of this, the outdoors description was totally inaccurate: no fenced in yard, the deck and even the screened in porch were covered in leaves (we went in the spring), the wooden table and branches on the photos were in pieces, with rusted screws coming out in every angle. We called the owner about the AC and they send a repairman who couldn't repair it. We finally decided to abort our vacation and requested a refund. On top of the fact that this ruined our vacation, the cost to travel there and the wasted PTOs, we only got a partial refund (-200) because the owner couldn't do anything about the VRBO and other fees. I would never recommend this rental.

The home looks much better in pictures, very outdated and well worn furniture. I do not enjoy sitting on stained furniture. When we arrived we were greeted with fleas! They came to spray the next day so we did have to leave the house, unfortunately in was raining. The location is great and check in was very easy.

This little house was perfect for a relaxing fall weekend. The owners responded quickly to all communication, and the location is great-just a few steps from the river with a spacious front porch and convenient to Emerald Isle and Swansboro. We rented the kayaks and enjoyed an afternoon on the river. One thing to be aware of—the windows in the 2nd bedroom don’t close completely so one night when there was a north wind coming off the river it was a little chilly. Fortunately our teenager who wears shorts if the temperature is above 20 was sleeping in there so he was fine, but that’s probably something that will need some attention before winter. We would definitely stay here again though.

The property has a broken railing on the front steps on the right side which was not noted in the posting. The back porches were not available due to locked doors but covered in leaves anyway. The AC/Heating system could not be changed from AC(no instructions in cottage) and the weather was cool. The owners may want to consider new housekeepers since there was quite a bit of dust on baseboards in the bathrooms and other areas. The shell nightlights did not work. Nightlights are great for older guest.Cottage nicely redone considering the age and the lack of noise was nice.
