Private Cottage Compound On Ryders Pond with Pristine Yard (2215)

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location on Ryder Pond is lovely, but couldn't make up for the rest. Even before entering the home we grabbed a walkway handrail only to have it completely dislodge (narrowly avoided a catastrophic fall). I tripped and fell on a different, uneven walkway that had no railing, resulting in nasty bruises and contusions. Both houses were tired with MULTIPLE windows not functioning, flickering and absent light bulbs, kitchen faucet fixture and cupboard pull-out drawers broken, electric plugs not working, bathroom faucets leaking (and we're not talking small, sporadic drips), slider doors not functioning or, if functioning, unable to be locked. Frankly, we felt ripped off and will never rent here again.

The views from the deck in the master n house were wonderful and the primary LR enjoys this view as well. The home/s could use a refresh and amenities for the beach (chairs, etc) should be included at this price point. (I say this as a VRBO host myself). Speaking of which- if, like me, you book on the VRBO website you will be paying double fees: a hefty percentage to VRBO and another hefty percentage to Berkshire Hathaway. I would still rent these homes again for their location but the listing should be clearer that you can avoid double fees by searching on the Robert Paul property site.

My adult children appreciated the guest house as they had some privacy while still being close by.The location was great. We really enjoyed the pond especially after a day at the beach. A few negative things:Refrigerator was not emptied upon arrival, I wound up throwing out two garbage bags of food.Some electrical outlets were left exposed and some of the lights were tricky to figure out.Bathroom repairs were not complete and while it didn’t effect the functionality of the master bath, it was an eyesore to look at.Kitchen while spacious and well appointed could use an update. Having said all that, the positives outweighed the negatives and we would rent this house again.

Reviewer Comments: We had a lovely time at this house on the border of Truro and wellfleet (beach pass is for wellfleet). It is quiet, in the woods, and by a pond. It is accessed by a bumpy dirt road. Convenient to many beaches and activities. There is a charcoal grill only, not a gas grill as listed, and there was no outdoor shower as listed. The pillows need replacement.
