Shipwrights is a treasured little holiday cottage in Kingswear which enjoys lovely views across the marina and River Dart towards Dartmouth and the Britannia Royal Naval College. Perfectly set up as a base for a couple or a small family to explore the South Devon area. A great spot for walkers with the Dart Valley Trail and the South West Coast Path almost on your doorstep; come home from a day exploring the cosy wood burner. Parking at the marina car park nearby is included in your stay. Please note that, as this is an old building, the layout may not be suitable for guests with mobility problems. If you'd like more details, please call us on 01803 771127.

Accommodation:

The front door leads into the open-plan living area with slate flooring throughout. The kitchen has painted wooden units with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, dishwasher, and microwave. The lounge area is centred around the exposed brick fireplace with wood-burning stove. It is complete with a sofa, armchair, TV, and DVD player. The dining table and chairs for three are set by the large window with views across the river.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double and one single - and both have river views. There is also a shower room with an electric shower and WC.

There's electric heating and a wood burner for comfort (logs can be purchased locally).

Parking:

There is room to stop outside to unload. Secure car parking is included at the Dart Haven Marina Car Park, a 2-minute walk away.

It's important to be aware that guests will need to provide us with the vehicle's registration, colour, and model so that we can arrange the permit. This information is required at least one week before your arrival. If this information is not provided, you may be issued with a parking penalty, which will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner.

Nearby:

The shops and pubs are a 5-minute walk down the hill. At the top is one of the village shops and the café 'Moor@13'. Roughly halfway down to the ferry is the Steam Packet Inn, which serves great food. A bit further down is the Ship Inn, tucked up off to the left. At the bottom of the hill, you will find the steam train station, ferries to Dartmouth, and the second village shop and Post Office.

Shipwrights is a lovely but tiny cottage with fantastic views across to Dartmouth. With the ferries, buses and the train we didn’t use the car as it was just a short break. Being able to park in the marina was perfect. Storage for the bedrooms was limited, not really ideal for three. We didn’t cook there but it looked as though everything necessary had been provided. There are plenty of places for an evening meal and we would highly recommend The Ship Inn in Kingswear. A small menu but the food was very good and the staff friendly and welcoming. All in all an excellent short break with good weather too.

A lovely cottage, nicely appointed inside and with the most fabulous views over Dartmouth and the river. A short walk to the ferry, we just left our car in the car park all weekend and used the ferries. I particularly loved the stable door, so I could look out while cooking. Good to see plenty of plugs for the inevitable phones and laptops too.

Lovely location, good pubs nearby, easy ferry rides across to Dartmouth. Parking in the car park very useful. House small but cosy for a short stay for two people. Good base for coastal path walks. No DVD player although listed in details and would benefit from a little more storage upstairs, a small chest of drawers would be useful. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

I stayed here with my wife and father in law. We all found the cottage to be an excellent choice for a short break. There was a wonderful view from the lounge and bedrooms. It was in a very handy location, not being too far up a hill from the lower car ferry and passenger ferry. A shop, pub and small Italian restaurant are nearby too. The parking permit for the car park just below is fantastic given the parking problems in Dartmouth and Kingswear. The cottage is very clean, warm, has comfortable beds and has many cooking items in the kitchen if required. Communications with Dart Valley Cottages was excellent too. Would definitely recommend.

Cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Great place to start walks from. Very quiet at night. Lovely view across the Dart. Get the multi-buy ferry ticket, for dinners & walks over in Dartmouth.

We had a lovely week in the cottage, we parked the car and that's where it stayed, bus train and ferry was our mode of transport for the week, it was really good not having to worry about parking.
