Peaceful Hillside Refuge to Enjoy Aurora

This cabin was truly the most amazing, comfy, cozy, and magical place to spend our days in Fairbanks. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in the Alaskan vibe—the decor is beautiful and thoughtful, and the cabin is equipped with absolutely everything you could need. We stayed during extreme cold, with temperatures reaching -45°F (-40°C), and to our amazement, the cabin still had running hot water the entire time. Being able to come back from our activities and take a hot shower was everything—it made our trip so much more comfortable and enjoyable. The location is perfect. It’s far enough from downtown Fairbanks to feel surrounded by peaceful nature and trees, yet close enough to everything you need. Running Reindeer Ranch is only 5 minutes away, and it’s just minutes from Aurora Camp and Murphy Dome—honestly, this is exactly where you want to be for aurora watching. On top of all that, the owners are incredible. They live just a couple of minutes away, so in case of any emergency they’re right there, and they are extremely responsive and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Highly, highly recommend!

I like this lodge very much! Just 10-15 minutes drive from the hotel and 20-30 minutes drive to the murphy dome where I saw the perfect aurora. The lodge is like a refuge from the outside world, queit and cozy, everything inside is clean and easy to use. If I want to visit Alaska again, this lodge would be one of the most important reason.

The place is awesome, beautiful view and a very comfortable getaway. That being said I would be remiss if I didn't mention a few things. Dan, the property owner is an incredibly nice man and a hard working pilot, but for our stay he lost track of time and did not have it ready for our arrival, which at that moment was a bummer, but he scrambled and got everything done ASAP and made up for the inconvenience in a few unique ways. The only other mildly negative part of this stay for us was that the TV is an older dumb flat screen and it has a google device on it, but there is no remote for the google device so if you want to watch anything other than the generous collection of DVDs the only choice, at least in our case, is to cast to the google device with your phone. All that being said we will absolutely be staying at this beautiful hillside retreat again in the future. We loved the place, the bed was comfortable, the cabin was warm and cozy and we loved the decor. The decor made the place feel instantly homey in that uniquely Alaskan way. This place is perfectly located just far enough from *civilization * to feel like you are truely out there and yet the 15-20 minute drive to acquire modern conveniences seemingly flew by with the beautiful views from the mountainous backroads. From the deck one can see stunning sunsets through the idilic forested hillside and they have a suet birdfeeder located within plain view of the window providing views of cheery avian meals.

Stayed for 3 nights, perhaps some of the best and most memorable of any other trip I've had - the cabin location is excellent striking the right balance between isolation yet being close enough to anything you may need. The cabin itself is beautiful and quite the engineering wonder - Dan (the owner) has done an admirable job in keeping it cozy, private and intimate yet having all the amenities you may possibly need from fast wifi, hot water, streaming services, DVD's, board games - you name it, it's there!. Upon arrival the condition of the cabin itself was pristine, everything perfectly clean, food in the pantry and eggs ready for next mornings breakfast. Not to mention the cabin being warm and cozy as it was -32C the evening I arrived! Dan himself is very welcoming and a wonderful host, it's easy to appreciate the attention to detail and care that goes into ensuring every guest has the perfect experience. Make this cabin your next stay, you will not regret it - I will surely book again!

The views from the hillside were amazing, especially in the early morning and evening when the landscape lights up with that classic Alaskan beauty. Cozy cabin in the woods - perfect for aurora viewing. Nice place to get away from it all.

Loved the out of town place. Offered fresh quail and chicken eggs when we ran out. Would recommend to anyone who just wants to get away from all the hustle and bustle of life.

Our hosts were amazing! They helped with anything we needed throughout the week. The cabin was perfectly cozy. The kitchen was well stocked and they provided breakfast foods, including fresh eggs. We absolutely loved our stay here.

Perfect place to stay in Fairbanks!

Nice, quiet and secluded little cabin. The cabin was clean and tidy. The cabinets were way more stocked than we were used to do unfortunately we didn't get to use hardly any of the stuff although it was nice to know it was there. The only nit pic I had and it's more rather a preference is that the bed was a little hard for my wife and me, but just us. Wish we would've had better weather so we could see the Northern lights, but that's just nature for you. It was a great place to stay and we deeply appreciated the use of it. Thanks.

Dan and Clarity were amazing hosts and easy to communicate with! The cabin was perfect us as it was far enough outside of town to be nice and peaceful, but close enough for all of our outings, and it was also close to Murphy Dome which was an amazing spot for viewing the aurora on cloudless nights!

We celebrated our 30th anniversary with a trip to Alaska. This cabin was the perfect remote location we were looking for! Hosts were quick to respond to questions and go above and beyond to make guests feel relaxed and comfortable.

Loved this little place! It was away from the city but not far. Super cute place. Loved the little squirrel that would come and visit us every morning. This place would’ve been perfect to see the northern lights except we had a lot of rain in clouds while we were there. Not to worry. It’s the perfect cabin that makes you feel right at home. We would definitely stay here again. Dan and Clarity were great.
