This little cottage is located in a very cute little WALKING community. There is no parking at the property. The listing says Free parking a short walk away. I guess this depends on what you define as a short walk. There are several options for parking and the closest two lots were full when I got there, so it's very inconvenient to load/unload and very confusing to figure out in the dark when I arrived with the instructions given. I tried to temporarily park in the neighbor's driveway for 5 minutes to unload and a tow truck started circling. You can't stop in the street or you block everything. The house is cute, was clean, and comfortable enough. However... None of the upstairs doors fully closed to varied degrees, including the bathroom. We had to push furniture in front of the bedroom doors at night to keep the dogs from roaming the house. We did love that it was dog friendly! The ceilings in the bedrooms are very low. One person in our party is just over 6 feet tall and he felt like his head barely cleared the ceiling fan, and was it difficult to avoid hitting it when putting on shirts. Lastly, the remote to control the streaming services doesn't work. We changed the batteries and it didn't help. So, all the good things the listing says are pretty much true, but here's the other side of the coin. We wouldn't stay here again. It's too pricy for the issues we had to deal with. The nightly rates are reasonable but the added fees doubled the price.
We celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful weekend at Mount Gretna. The home was perfect in all ways. We will return.
The porch was not clean as shown in the picture listing. We found it very dirty with debri and cobwebs. The back porch and steps were very dirty as well. There was not a cleared walkway to exit the back door to the street which made it difficult/unsafe to walk when unloading or taking the trash out. There wasn't a broom seen to sweep the porches. The mildew smell stated from a previous renter was very prevelant during our stay. When opening the windows for fresh air we found the sills of the window layered with dirt. I thought the strong smell was an animal possible cat odor. I am schocked to read it could possibly be mildew. I had an allergic reaction to the smell. We were not notified about the previous renters reporting of this smell by the host. They just proceeded to let more renters book a stay there under these conditions. I tried several times to contact the host about what we experienced during our stay via email and phone calls in which I left messages requesting a call back and I have never received a response. It has now been over two weeks. We have stayed in Mt. Gretna before and never had such a disappointing experience concerning cleanliness and safety and the host not responding to the unpleasant conditions of our stay.
Unfortunately master bedroom had mildew and we were not able to use the room. My kids had to go stay with family. The kitchen and bath are new and in great shape. The neighborhood is quaint and nice for walking around the town. Management company reached out immediately and got us into another cottage early. Management company very helpful, yet a homeowner needs to make a few more improvements in the bedroom to solve mildew. Febreeze and mildew wasn’t good. Please fix this problem, health issues.
This was a different experience for us. We'd never stayed in a neighborhood with these old style cottages before. The place was nice - plenty of room for 4 of us & 2 small dogs. Exactly like the listing indicated - recently updated, good amenities - including good HVAC. It was fun to wander the neighborhood, we even got to see a concert in the tabernacle. Wish we'd been able to explore more locally - we did a couple days at Hersheypark so didn't see much local. We were only 25 min from Hershey and it was an easy drive.
