Maeburn Cottages - Self-contained Lakeside Getaway

We expected better for the money. The unit was old and musty.

The property was great. We received terrific support from the owner. The grounds were very well maintained, the cottage was spacious, clean and all the amenities were in good working order. The cottages were fairly centrally located, only minutes from all the town centre and other venues. Short drive to Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale. Really enjoyed our stay.

Was great to be able to stay one night on our way home after travelling up the Coast also being able to have our dog stay too. Very obliging and friendly host thank you Dorothy.

Very comfortable, heaps of room and excellent hosts

Very nice, clean cottage. Short walk to the water. 15 minute walk to town center or a 5 minute drive. Only negative is no WiFi. The town supposedly has free WiFi but we could not find any.

We had everything we need, there was even milk, coffee, tea as well as cookies. We had a lovely relaxing stay. Thank you.

A quiet charming location to stay. Dorothy was very helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed the birds, lake and undisturbed time with our dog, note phone reception is limited.

Had a lovely weekend at Maeburn. Dorothy was welcoming and friendly, helpful and prompt to communicate with. The cottage had all the things you need, including a stunning rain showerhead, and was nearby to springs, Metung itself and a short walk down the hill to the water front (made a lovely pre-breakfast walk on a fresh morning).

Had a great time we had our dog with us the unit was not what we thought it was very old but we had a great time

We loved the relaxing atmosphere homely feel, friendliness and convenient and beautiful location.

Dorothy was lovely, great communication and very welcoming. Pet friendly which was great, shared yard but was able to take turns in letting our dog explore off lead. Cabin & furniture is old but it was clean and bed was comfy, we had beautiful parrots feeding from the bird feeder a property was nice and quiet. The only downside was we booked a lake view cabin and couldn’t see anything but trees.

We stopped here for one night and it was just what we needed. The cottage is modest but very cosy and spotlessly clean. It also has a good deck area for oudoor dining. Thank you Dorothy for a lovely stay.

Cottage was lovely and clean, bed comfortable, lounge also comfortable. If you want somewhere to stay with your dog highly recommend this place. Lots of room for the dog to run and explore. Lots of beautiful wild birds, nice and peaceful.Dorothy was very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at Maeburn Cottage, all the basics were there it was clean and comfortable, and had a lovely garden with trees and birdlife, easy for our pets to enjoy as well.

The town was in easy reach and the walks were wonderful along the lake.The pub food was excellent, and the cabin beds were very comfortable.As my friends were footy fans they were a bit disappointed by the TV reception in Metung!

Manure Cottages are a great affordable option for dog lovers. The comfy cottage was very clean and Dorothy and her husband couldn’t be more helpful. The cottage wasn’t flash but very clean and perfect if you have a dog you love to travel with. Beautiful walks, right near the lake. We enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you!

We stayed in one of 3 cottages on a very large block. The cottages are all of an older vintage but thoughtfully provided all that is required. Our cottage was warm and clean.Our dog as well as us was made very welcome and she enjoyed the run of a secure large yard.It is a short drive or long walk to the village. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

We enjoyed a 2 night winter getaway at Maeburn Cottages. Dorothy was lovely, and kindly allowed us to check in 30 mins early. The cottages are in a very quiet location. Our cottage was nice and clean and we found it to have everything we needed for a short stay. Electric blankets on all the beds were a bonus for a winter stay. The accommodation is also dog friendly and the cottage verandah can be secured by a small gate, which we appreciated.

The property though old was neat and tidy. The area was very peaceful and the fact that we were able to bring our dog with us was great. We were booked in for two nights but had to leave early.

Very nice , self contained cottage. Immaculately clean with all amenities yiu could need. Grat location as it was very close to the local eateries, waterfront and hot springs, but still beautifully quiet.Best nights slerp i had in a long time.

Our second short stay in a week and everything was perfect for us and our dogs who travel with us.

We stayed twice in Maeburn Cottages and we highly recommend!! Communication with the hosts was easy, accommodation is well located, neat, clean with all your needed facilities.

Myself & my dog stayed for one night, the property was spotlessly clean. Great deck area with a gate so the dog was safe. Cottage had plenty of room, good sized bathroom & couch and bed were comfy.

We had a lovely short stay in Metung. Maeburn Cottages was a good location but you do need a car. The cottage was comfy and we had everything we needed. TV reception was very spotty but didn't cause us any major problems. Good accommodation for the price.

The property was 1960s brown” and rather sad/tired. But the kitchen was well equipped and the Owner was very friendly.

I had a comfortable and relaxing 1 night stay. The accommodation was spacious, making it perfect for my dog to settle in. The hosts were very welcoming, and everything was smooth and hassle-free. Would stay again!

Beautiful cosy cottage short walk from beach and village . Lots of room inside and perfect for our golden retriever who had a ball roaming the property . Very easy checkin experience and Dorothy there to greet us . Will definitely be returning!!!

Stayed in a family unit overnight to break our journey home. Dined at the Metung Hotel, meal was delicious! Hosts were lovely, and accommodation very comfortable. A great pet friendly cottage.

A lovely little cottage, cosy and nestled away an easy 1.4 km walk to the main street. Very clean and thoughtfully presented, thank you Dorothy. Pet friendly of which we are most grateful.

So clean and cozy. Beautiful host greeted us on arrival even though we were late. Our golden retriever and kids loved all the space.

Lovely property, tree lined and spacious yard for dogs to runabout. The actual unit deck gate was not suitable for our chihuahuas as they escaped given the slats are too far apart. Would be great to continue the fencing used as part of the gate as a fixable solution. Location was super convenient to hotsprings and main township. Host is super lovely and accommodating. No modern amenities though very comfortable for a short stay. Great option to rent out all 3 units for a weekend away with friends.

The cottage is just as described. It was a lovely and exceptionally clean cottage. My dog had free range of a HUGE yard. The cottage was lovely with a great walk just 2 minutes away along the lake.

We had a Jack Russell which meant he could still get under the gate at the front of the enclosed decked area of the cabin. Back area is completely open garden, not fenced off. Cabin was older, but clean and cosy. We only had an over night stay. Location good, few mins drive to town.

We booked last minute and the whole process was simple and smooth. The hosts were lovely and the cottage was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We will definitely stay there again.

Dorothy and Alwyn were super friendly, gave me soup for dinner one night and delicious homemade muffins another day 👌 beautiful couple made it feel like home for me and my Kelpie boy The house was clean and with basic stuff, close to the beach and town center. Thanks ❤️

Absolutely amazing. Co ttage was spotless. Very, very peaceful.

The cabin has everything, including electric blankets which we appreciated in August. The yard is safe and large for dogs. We woke to magpie song. Dorothy and Alwyn could not have been more welcoming.
