The cabinbwas great, perfect location for snowboarding with a gorgeous view! Hot tub doesn't work, this is listed in fine print so easy to miss when booking, and excessive texts and emails from the property management company, l like to relax and disconnect on vacation, not be borhered with a bunch of unnecessary messages.

Pros:Great views. Fast WiFi. Comfortable-enough beds. Super convenient driveway for loading/unloading a vehicle.Cons:Lack of a true living area.Front shower - slow drain causes water to accumulate in bottom of tub during shower.Fireplace was temperamental. Sometimes worked, sometimes did not.Downstairs - Gap at bottom of exterior door caused a bad draft and made it extremely cold. The lower level of the home was basically unusable.Home should not be filterable by hot tub when the hot tub is not guaranteed to be in working order. We paid a premium rental price for this home and feel we got shortchanged.

Loved the location! Very cute cottage. Some updating needed but overall had everything we needed. Glad we read the previous reviews and it was noted coffee maker was drip and not Keurig. It was very cold in the area, so downstairs was cooler than we are use to and only had fireplace to heat. Will consider using this again.

The host, Mandy, was there when we arrived and gave us a lesson on the locking system. She was very pleasant and helpful. The cabin was perfect for the two of us. We were very comfortable in the downstairs room with the fireplace and bigger tv. We did wish for local channels to check the weather (and World Series scores on, tho). We would love to return someday to the beautiful area of North Carolina.

Home is close enough to downtown but just far enough to be away from it and peaceful at night. Home is as described. Had 1 question/issue while we were visiting but response was excellent.

What a lovely location! The Potato house is nestled on a hillside facing Seven Devils. Peaceful views of the ever changing mountain colors from a walkout balcony. The house is very simply equipped with the basics for a getaway. As previously stated, the hot tub is non operational and and outdoor fire pit is also not available for use. Otherwise you’ll find a clean propane grill on the deck and a gas cooktop and oven inside. Drip coffee maker available, but you’ll have to supply your own coffee and fresh water. WiFi worked well. Plenty of plates silverware and small plastic cups. Dishwasher small but functional. Stackable washer and dryer is available, bring your own detergent. Two king size beds were comfortable, but the linens are tired and could use some replacements. As mountain getaways go, this checks all the must have boxes. Very private, extremely quiet surroundings, and beautiful views. Only a few minutes to Banner Elk Winery and a few miles to downtown.

This was our second stay at the Potato House. The location and view is great. The house was very clean. The landscaping needs to be cleaned up, everything is overgrown. The deck was lovely to sit out on any time of the day.

This was a first “girls trip” for my mom, sister, and myself. We recently lost my father, and wanted to get away. The only “must have” for us was a hot tub. The listing included a working hot tub when I made the reservation. After I paid in full I realized that the post was changed saying the hot tub did not work. I called to address the issue prior to our trip. I was told that the hot tub had been fixed. We get there and the hot tub doesn’t work. The TV’s in both bedrooms were also inoperable. I sent messages over a 2 hour time frame the day of check in. I called the number provided the next day to report the issues. I was told that I would receive a call back. That call never came. Upon returning to the cabin the next day I observed 2 young men sitting at the table outside by the hot tub. When I pulled in they jumped up and said they were there to work on the hot tub bc it had a leak. Within 5 minutes they left and the hot tub was still inoperable. The price of this cabin is too high for the amenities that you receive.

While we thought the home was accurately priced, the amenities were lacking. The Potato house is missing the creature comforts we book VRBO's over hotels for—no where to sit comfortably, everything is very dated and worn out from the pots/pans, to the outdoor chair pillows to the couches—it felt like being in a dorm, where just the basics were covered. The structure of the home is beautiful so it's a shame other elements of a comfortable rental were missed. Even the welcome book has outdated info and conflicting directions to local trails, etc. The one positive was that it was very clean. All of that said, we would not stay here again.

For the cost of what we paid for the rental, it was fantastic. It has 2 great outdoor spaces, with a top and lower deck. It is small, but enough space for what we needed. It needs a few simple things, that I noticed others mention, like more towels. We are 60 guest and had to maneuver to get up the outdoor steps and to get in to the high ledge bath tub/showers. We found the furniture and beds comfortable. The kitchen had just about anything you could use, but a big pot to boil spaghetti. We never figured out how to turn the TV's on in the bedrooms, but that could have just been us?!

Clean, good location. False advertising with the hot tub being listed in the title of the property then immediately after arrival we were told that the hot tub is not an amenity for guest use. This was a requirement in our choice of property and we would have absolutely not rented this location had they updated their listing.Multiple items did not work. The dishwasher was broken, the TV in the main are did not work, we had to buy batteries for the remotes. The fireplace downstairs did not work and the heating system doesn’t reach that area. This resulted in the downstairs unusable due to temps below freezing. The hot tub was also not working (when we reported this, that is when we were told that it was not for guest use). The communication of property management was good from booking to check in. After that, the response has been very poor.

Hello! We picked this house because it was close to Beech Mountain. It was cozy and great, however we only picked it because of the hot tub. When we got there it wasn’t working. When we reached out to guest services we could only speak to a bot. The bot gave us several phone numbers to reach out to, but they were phone numbers for agencies in Colorado, and when we called them they told us they had no idea how we got their numbers. The bot told us someone would come out to get the hot tub working, but no one ever did. If there were a greater emergency or any other question we needed answered we would not have been able to communicate with anyone, since there was no phone number or anyone local to reach out to. It is a nice place but not worth the money for the amenities not working and inability to speak with an actual person. This review might be the only way of notifying the owner about this issue. Would we be able to get some type of refund or discount? Otherwise it was clean and we were grateful to have a warm place to stay!
