Lost River Swiss Cottage/10 acres/Private Dog Park/Streams

Gorgeous, dramatic views of WV mountains. Quiet and restful atmosphere. Owners live nearby and were very responsive and helpful. Exactly as advertised.

Lost River is the perfect area for hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and all kinds of biking. Very scenic, safe, quiet and friendly. Far less people than the Canaan area where we always went. This house is well located and very private. There is very little traffic on the road below. Almost none at night. The huge fenced in dog park is great. The home is well maintained and very clean. We had everything we needed. Check-in and communication was easy and smooth. We can't wait to return!

Spacious home with huge screened in porch and incredible view in a quiet location. Comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Lovely Saturday market at the bottom of the hill where you can grab breakfast or lunch while your dog enjoys the fenced dog park. The hosts are very friendly and graciously accommodated a special request for us at the last minute.My only recommendations for improvement would be a washer/dryer accessible to guests and a better kitchen (cabinets are worn, there is no dishwasher or disposal, and the pots and pans are very disorganized due to lack of space). Would also recommend arriving in daylight as the driveway is hard to find in the dark. Would also recommend an AWD car if you have one due to the steep gravel road and steep dirt/gravel driveway.

The screened in porch was amazing! We lived out there and fully enjoyed all 10 acres of the property. New bathrooms and good mattresses! Kitchen a tad sparse but workable.

This property require electricity for everything !!. YES. You need electricity even to take a dump !!. We stayed for 3 nights and power went down middle of second day. Since only way of communication is wifi (down due to power), We have to drive 7 miles out to make phone call. Since water comes out of well (No intermittent storage) you need power for water. While we understand wifi not working, Water not being there is a shock and surprise. When we told the owner, all we got is yeah you need power to get the water from well in a condescending tone. The porch is wonderful! Very comfortable furnishings. Sits on a hill that makes the view, provides space for kids and dog to run. With two floors, the late talkers or early risers can have their space!

This was a perfect location to get away and decompress. The screened in porch was comfortable even in the heat of the summer. The open property on the side of a mountain allowed for a great view of the stars at night. Within 30 minutes there is several state and national parks with great trails and walking around the property was safe and convenient.

We recently stayed at lost River Swiss cottage. The owner was very responsive. The house was nice and comfortable and well stocked Kitchen with essentials. We truly enjoyed our stay. Would recommend the swiss cottgae.

We (a group of friends and one tiny dog) spent a lovely and snowy weekend in Bob and Tammy's cozy cabin. Anything we needed--extra blankets, coffee filters, a colander--was there, and Bob even stopped by to give us some advice about navigating the property through the snow. We could not have asked for better hosts or a more comfortable cabin. Without a doubt, we would stay here again! 10/10

The cottage is the perfect getaway for the holiday. It is spacious, cozy, and very well maintained with things like towels and cooking utensils. Our dog loved to run around on the grass. It is also very close to Lost River State Park for a nice hike. We will definitely come back if we get another chance!

The Swiss Cittage was larger than expected, very roomy! It was clean and comfortable, great for a weekend getaway or longer. Dinner at the nearby Guesthouse was delicious and quite elegant. There were lots of great hikes nearby, too.

This is the third time we have stayed here. The first two times was just my husband and I with our dog. The reason we chose this property to begin with was we could bring our dog with us. We have enjoyed our previous stays so much, this time our son and his wife and our 3 yr old grandson came along. They also brought their dog. There was plenty of room for all of us. The layout was great with a bedroom, bathroom and additional living room all on the lower level. This allowed us the ability to have our own quiet time when needed. It was a truly enjoyable week.
