Wetmore, Michigan
NEW MANAGEMENT as of September 2022
The cottage on lost lake is cozy, serene, clean, and has all of the amenities of home, but away from the mad rush. Sitting on the deck and enjoying the 100 ft. Pines and taking in the lake view is the perfect escape from it all. The cottage is on a private road. It is accessible all year round. When you enter the cottage you are welcome by a large kitchen/ dining area, accompanied by a large living room area, all with tongue and groove vaulted ceiling. The cottage was lovingly built by a couple who live on the same lake. There is an immediate sense of serenity, and space. There are 2 bedrooms in the back. One is a Queen iron wrought bed with lovely oak furniture, many drawers, and large closets. The other has very new and solid full bunk beds with a twin trundle. In the living room, the couch is also a queen-size pull-out bed. There is one bath. It is really 2 rooms. The double sinks, and vanity, and washer and dryer are in a room adjoining the bathtub, shower, and commode. This property also includes a paddle boat, row boat, 2 canoes & 1 kayak.
For larger families looking for additional space, we also manage a property next door that could sleep another 4 people.
The deck has a small iron table and chairs to accommodate outdoor dining.
It is a walkout basement, with an adjoining dog kennel so that you can let the dog out in the middle of the night without having to suit up for a walk. *Note-We do charge a pet fee of $80 plus tax and any additional pets is an additional $50 charge.
The lot will accommodate parking for a trailer, and a few cars. The entire property is 3 acres. Right off of the road are a number of trails that will lead you through the Hiawatha national forest. You can enjoy them by foot, snow mobile, snowshoe, cross country skiing, etc. Truly a place for all seasons. We would ask, out of courtesy for the neighbors. That snowmobilers would respect the 15 mile an hr. speed limit on the private road, and refrain from making noise with the snowmobiles after 10PM.
The cottage is set up with a phone and internet. There is a tv with a DVD player. There is a collection of DVDs to choose from.
Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Location was great and the actual house was nice too. Old cozy vibe with a little bit of a dusty texture. Only downside was there is a significant taste and smell of sulfur from the water.Property Manager was not great, minimal communication and when I asked questions, never got a solid response. The team did the job, they got us in and gave clear instructions but did not communicate well outside the copy and paste messages.
We enjoyed the cottage and the quietness.
The location was great! It was very close to Munising. The dog run in the backyard was helpful. The property had a kayak, paddleboat, and a canoe. We had a great time on the quiet lake in the early morning. We didn't catch any fish but it was still a great time. We visited many nearby waterfalls and attractions during our stay. Thanks for a much-needed vacation!
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had an amazing week! The house was very clean and it had all the amenities we needed. There were also no bugs or spiders around the deck or on the paddle boat and row boat. We felt very comfortable and at peace! I highly recommend viewing the stars on the paddle boat late at night! We also had fun renting an ATV and exploring trails to waterfalls. Great family vacation!
Close to everything and Lost Lake is great for early morning kayaking.
Clean, quiet, good directions, helpful brochures.
We spent our 17th anniversary and everything was perfect. The dog run was perfect for quick pup trips in negative temps. We were able to get to Marquette, Pictured Rocks and Miners Castle with no problems even in late December. This was a charming house in a totally secluded neighborhood. We really enjoyed our stay.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Place was perfect for pets and location but kinda dirty in some areas like blinds and maybe some carpet cleaning. The big deck was nice.
We had an amazing peaceful time. Exactly what I needed.
It was such a great place! It had everything we needed and we're looking for in a vacation getaway. Perfect views, a place for our dog, and near places we wanted to see. The house was so cute and peaceful!
Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After staying in this filthy, poorly maintained home and how the host and Airbnb acted like I was being too particular,we will NEVER use Airbnb again since this is acceptable to them.Poop smears on carpet, animal hair in beds and on chairs, broken shower door, broken laundry door, broken kitchen sink sprayer, questionable stains on carpets, towels and beds.Carpet odors. Mildew issues on ceilings and window shades. Thick Layer of dust on many higher surfaces. Many personal items on top of fridge and basement making it cluttery.Deck looks like it's never been washed. The bathroom towels were so ratty and stained I wouldn't even use them to wash a dog.I do not recommend unless staying in someone else dirty, cluttery,musty/smoke house is your idea of a relaxing vacation to pictured rocks.
The lake house was nice. We enjoyed the view from the deck and using the paddleboat. Lots of sightseeing in the area. Loved watching the hummingbirds. We would recommend this cabin for rental for an enjoyable vacation.
This was the perfect rental for my family and our needs. The boats and lake front access were the best part and we had lots of fun. There was plenty of room for sleeping for us (4 adults and 2 kids). The upstairs and bedrooms were clean and there was plenty of clean bedding and towels. The only issue I had with cleanliness was the basement - there looked to be some trash but it wasn't a big deal to us because we only used it to access the outdoor kennel (which was also great so we could let our dog off leash for awhile). In response to the other reviews complaining about the musty smell - yes the basement did smell a little musty but that is normal for Michigan basements especially right by the water and I'm sure the owner does everything they can to keep it at bay as there was a dehumidifier and no leaks or standing water I could see. If you do book this rental make sure you get directions to the property and follow them don't listen to a map app! There are a lot of dirt roads going around the lakes and they don't all have through access. The place was nice and private and had everything you could need - boats, water, cooking appliances and utensils, firepit and grill. It is also near Munising and other places to explore including hiking/ATV trails. I also appreciated the owner reaching out to me to give directions and recommendations on things to do in the area. My only regret is not writing or reading in the guest book - we never had time because we were too busy relaxing and having fun. I would recommend this place for a good time both on the property and at any of the nearby attractions.
Myself, my husband and our daughter stayed along with our two dogs. The location of the house is within 10-15 minutes from Munising in a wooded setting. It's very peaceful there, and just what we were looking for, as we didn't want a busy place right downtown. We weren't too far out for sightseeing everyday and then returning to the house to enjoy the beautiful view from the deck that overlooks the lake. We took two different boats out for fun. There were five, non-motorized boats, to choose from which was an added bonus to renting this house. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. We made lots of memories, and had many laughs. I would recommend this home to anyone and will definitely keep it on my mind to rent again in the future.
My family of four had a good time at Lost Lake. Easy to find and about a 10 mile drive to Munising. The paddle and row boats were a great amenity to have to catch Northern! We did have to vacuum the floor upon arrival and wipe down some counter surfaces. The home overall could use a good spring cleaning to get rid of the cobwebs and dust bunnies. Unfortunately we were left with only 2 rolls of TP for a six night stay. These notes were left for the housekeeper as instructed. If you plan on cooking, the kitchen has just about everything you will need. Do bring your own basic seasonings as there were a lot of expired ones in the cupboard. The salts were from 2007 & 2011. Overall, a positive experience with some concerns of cleanliness. The lake is beautiful and quiet.
