Log Chalet Above Fairbanks ~ An Alpine Getaway With Views

We loved our stay in this cabin. From skiing to hiking Castner glacier and visiting Denali then soaking in the hot tub we had so much to do at and around the cabin. The aurora was out 5 of the 7 nights we stayed there and watching it from the end of the driveway was amazing. Colleen helped us out when we woke up with a flat tire so that was a blessing having her on the property. We enjoyed our stay here and will be recommending it to all our friends.

The cabin was cozy, clean, and very comfortable. It was in a perfect location to see the auroras right from the porch and the day time view was amazing. Colleen was an amazing host. I would highly recommend staying here. It is just far enough out of the city but close enough to all activities.

Loved this home. The area was beautiful! Up on a mountain with great views. The home was cute and cozy and warm (even in the -30 degree weather) Colleen, our host was very quick about responding and extremely helpful. If we visit Fairbanks again we hope to stay next time!

This chalet was absolutely amazing. It was very cozy, well stocked, and accommodating with extra amenities. The hot tub outside, while the snow was falling, just felt so very good. The master bedroom, the location of the bathtub, with a beautiful winter view, the massage chair and the electric fireplace in the master bedroom, made it so special. There was a foosball table and a little kid corner in the kitchen, and family board games and a real fireplace in the living room. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious, with bunkbeds in one room, in addition to a double size bed. There were only four of us, but the place could easily held 10 people. Colleen was very responsive and left clear instructions. She even notified me the evening that we thought we’d see the northern lights right from her house. Alas, I did not get to see the northern lights, but it was still a very rejuvenating and serene place to stay with my family.

We had a wonderful stay in Colleen’s beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous views while eating in the warm kitchen and comfortable living room. It was great for us that the house was fully stocked with a whole kitchen of equipment and was very kid-friendly. Our young children loved the toy kitchen right in the adult one. Colleen was very communicative and helpful, and we appreciated the thoughtful information about the house and the area she provided to help guide us during our visit.

Great place to stay right outside Fairbanks. Quiet and beautiful. Very comfortable and we had all we needed.

Thank you for the welcome information. We got to see the northern lights on 9/5/25 at around 10:30pm from the back deck....so nice to see again! We loved eating at The Salmon Bake twice! Lou Lou bagels was a great recommendation we loved it much had breakfast there 3 times! Ruining Reindeer Ranch was awesome just down the road from cabin. We look forward to coming back again someday! It was a beautiful property with everything we needed for our stay. Communication with the owner was easy, and she always responded promptly. We’d definitely stay there again!

Colleen was very responsive and helpful. Property worked fantastically for family and I - outside of Fairbanks but close enough to all activities and great view.

Beautiful and spacious cabin with easy access to hiking trails, the university, and Fairbanks. We were there during a warm spell in June with temps near 90 outside on some days, and this cabin was nice and cool with the fans and a/c setup. The host has thought of everything you might need including a notebook of recommendations for activities, restaurants, etc. She was quick to respond regarding any questions. With the massage chair, jacuzzi tub and deck to relax on it was a wonderful retreat. We enjoyed the Midnight Sun Festival while there and had no trouble sleeping at night with the comfortable bed and blackout curtains keeping the bedroom dark. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

This was an amazing property with stunning views. The house is well appointed with extra touches like extension cords by every bed to charge your phone. There were only 3 of us, but it’s roomy enough for a bigger group. The real highlight is the host who lives on site. We were caught off guard with significant snowfall during our stay, and she went above and beyond to help us navigate, from lending us ice cleats for our shoes to giving winter driving tips. The northern lights were not visible during our stay, but she gave us tips on how to track them.

Tucked away out of town, great location! Inside is over the top with a cozy wood stove, quilts and games. Colleen was incredibly responsive, replying in minutes and even alerting us on the northern lights appearance. Super comfortable beds, hot tub was great. Felt like visiting family.

The house was great, had plenty of room and was very clean. It had everything we needed. The views are wonderful. The Northern Lights weren't especially active while we were there, but we were able to see some a couple of nights from the deck. Overall, a wonderful place to stay while we did things in and around Fairbanks.

The cabin was in a great location. Not far from town while still getting the isolated vibe. It’s also nice to know that the owners are on property that in case of any trouble (which we didn’t have any).

My husband and I came to Fairbanks to celebrate our 20 year anniversary by watching the Northern Lights. We were comfy in this secluded cabin and it was so convenient to jump on the road to get to Murphy Dome to see the Northern Lights at their best. We love staying a little outside of town and would highly recommend staying here!

Perfect log cabin, well stocked with (the most generous supply of) activity accessories as my 20 yr old boys said. They sled, built snowmen, etc etc. Wood burning stove in the living room, beds are comfortable. Roads were safe to drive on. Kitchen very well stocked. We stayed warm and had the best family trip ever. We saw the Northern Lights on both a professional photography tour AND from the cabin balcony as well as amazing sunrises and sunsets. We are planning another trip in the spring.

Beautiful views. Beyond caring host. Coleen had everything, sleds, fire wood, games, all amenities! Can’t wait for a return visit.

We enjoyed our stay. The house had everything we needed and the host was awesome with recommendations and pointers for seeing the Aurora.

The home was wonderful, cozy, and had gorgeous views and scenery. The property owner, Colleen was phenomenal. She was gracious, kept us informed of possible aurora viewing, and information to enjoy the Fairbanks area. She made us feel like we were part of her family. If ever back in Fairbanks this is where I will stay.

House was as advertised. Very secluded, yet only 15 minute drive into Fairbanks. Also near Murphy Dome for Aurora viewing. Owner was responsive and very helpful with Aurora viewing recommendations.
