Beautiful setting. Quiet and peaceful. There is nothing like being near water and right on the lake.

Another wonderful long weekend at the Speckman cottage. Couldn't ask for a better host of the property. Judy is amazing! Weather turned out great and we enjoyed every minute of being there.

This has become a special place to visit for our family and the memories weve made there are priceless. The hosts are so accomaditing and keep the home in excellent shape. Could not ask for a better experience every time we come. 100% recomend.

Our stay at the cabin was absolutely unforgettable. The space was incredibly spacious, giving our family of six plenty of room to relax and enjoy each other's company. The location was stunning—nestled right by a beautiful lake, we were treated to breathtaking views every day.The cabin came equipped with all the amenities we needed, making it feel like a true home away from home. From cozy evenings by the fire to peaceful mornings on the deck overlooking the water, every moment was special.We made so many wonderful memories here and would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a serene and comfortable retreat. We can’t wait to come back!

Great location! House was very nice and clean. Right on the water and the dock is perfect for fishing. We caught catfish, perch and smallmouth bass right from the dock. Judy was great to work with and communicated everything we needed. I will 100% stay here again next year.

Great place in an excellent location. Walking distance to the Dirty Turtle. Nice dock with plenty of room. Very nice hosts that are quick to communicate. The home is quaint and clean with all amenities and a well-stocked coffee bar.Will be back!

This sweet cottage was a perfect retreat to provide quiet and relaxation for my husband and I. The house had everything we could need or want! The lake and dock were fantastic and the many deer sightings around the property was an added bonus!! We would highly recommend this space to any couple or small family to enjoy a great home away from home!!

We so enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The view was just beautiful. The host and hostess were amazing and they met all of our needs and wants. We enjoyed the deer in the front yard as they munched on the apples. they also got their needs met. The lake was beautiful and it was a very peaceful environment . They or the neighbor had an American flag on a pole with a light on it. It's nice to see such patriotism. The neighbor was nice also. Overall was a great vacation.

Judy and Dennis are the most thoughtful hosts we’ve ever encountered. All we needed to bring was food and fishing poles. They supplied many condiments and great cooking equipment. We fished right off the very stable and large dock. We caught walleye, small and large mouth bass that were 8 to 14 inches long. We saw deer, a red fox and a bald eagle flew right above the pier. If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is the place.

We chose this property because of the view, the pictures of the house, and the easy access to the dock for fishing (no steps or hills.) It exceeded every expectation!! The house is well-furnished and has so many fun lake house touches — plus the awesome coffee bar! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The beds are very comfortable, with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. There is a Dollar General within minutes, and a great full-service grocery in Mauston, about 15 minutes away. There are several nice places to eat nearby. Actually, that is the best part of the location. The cabin itself is in a quiet area, but it is close to shopping and dining. You can do as much or as little as you like. Something you will not want to miss are the fabulous sunrises. Even on vacation , it is worth setting your alarm! My husband had great success fishing from the dock. Catfish, walleye, perch, white bass = happy guy! Because of an algae outbreak, we did not swim or kayak as planned, but were told by the locals that it’s seasonal and that activities are still OK. We were still able to enjoy the sunny days, and adventures to nearby Buckhorn State Park, and the Necedah Natl Wildlife Preserve. Judy is a responsive and fabulous host. We had a problem with the Internet provider when we arrived, and she jumped through hoops to get it fixed. As it turned out, being disconnected was a blessing in disguise. There is so much to love about this peaceful, quiet hideaway!

Doug and Judy have a beautiful property and are fantastic hosts. This was our 6th year visiting and each year is bettet than the last.

We stayed here now seven years and we absolutely love it. Judy is perfect to work with, and you just cannot beat the location and the views.

This property is a gem. We have stayed at this cottage for several years now. Dennis and Judy are very welcoming. The check-in and checkout is very clearly communicated and the texts regarding things to do in the area and upcoming weather is very helpful. The response to emails and texts are very timely if there are questions or concerns. The cottage is clean and very well kept. All the amenities needed are available, from cooking utensils, bedding, towels, grill outside, beach toys, etc. This is so helpful when packing for a lake trip. The view from the cottage is divine! We spend much of our day outside enjoying the view, playing in or on the lake. Evenings are spent playing family games and laughing. This family vacation is a time to relax, enjoy beautiful Castle Rock Lake and to enjoy our time together as a family without the pressures of the outside world. We are thankful that we have found this property and more thankful that we have been allowed to stay here. Our kids absolutely love this place and ask to come back each year!
