It's a gem. Right on the water with great amenities and all the gear to be out on the lake. Bobby is a kind and delightful host. We will return.
It was relaxing and comfortable. The owners made sure you had everything you needed and were available via text with any questions needing answering.
I can’t say enough good things about this quaint cottage. It was a wonderful place to spend and ring in the new year. The owners were also very quick to respond and check in to ensure we had what we needed. We will def be back!
This home is very clean and functional. Molly and Bobby were very attentive and did whatever they could to assure that we had a great time. We visited in the winter and would love to come back in the summer too.
The place was so much better thank pictures. So pretty and relaxing. Nothing like sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine taking in the wonderful view. Can't wait to go back.
My boyfriend and I rented this beautiful homey cottage for our one year anniversary and we were not disappointed. The view was so breathtaking and serene, especially when relaxing in the hot tub under the stars or sitting by a fire. Also Bobby was so helpful leaving little notes all around the cottage so we knew where everything was, and he was quick to answer any of our questions when we’d text him. We are so glad we came across this cottage. We are already planning a trip to come back. :)
We had an amazing time. Everything we needed was there. The cottage was absolutely perfect. We had chopped wood for the fireplace. Plenty of seating inside and out and a gorgeous view of Long Pond and the foliage. We’ll be back!
Absolutely LOVED our stay at this little lakeside cutie - the hot tub is literally ON the lake! The profile pics are spot on. The home is older - from the 1930s - but so well maintained with every amenity you could want and the owners have cute notes and labels everywhere so you don't have to waste time opening and closing cupboards and drawers looking for things or wondering how it works. Location is perfect - just 10 minutes from the quaint town of Mystik and the aquarium, the Foxwoods Casino is also close by. There are family games, tons of TV channels, swans on the lake, kayaks for use and a fireplace for chilly nights. We traveled 11 days thru upper east coast - new place every night - my family voted this place as the favorite (we stayed 2, but next trip will base here the whole time). Oh, and as a bonus, the owners are so quick to respond to any communication making the reservation, payment, and stay easy peasy. Thanks Molly and Bobby for sharing your place with us - for having the hot tub fired up and ready upon arrival, and taking care of the food we needed to jettison at the end of our stay. ?
We discovered this lovely cottage a year ago when we were in the area for a family wedding. As soon as we walked in we knew we wanted to return for a longer trip so that we could appreciate all the cottage had to offer. Yay we were able to return for a whole week this past September! The cottage offers a dock, as well as a floating dock, wrap around porch with a table and chairs overlooking the lake, kayaks and canoe. The sunset views were the best we have seen in a long time. It was a stunning sunset that week. The best place to watch is from the chairs and bench on the hill next to house. There are two fire pits, grills, swing and a very clean hot tub. We bring our golden retriever with us whenever we can and he LOVES this place. He likes to lie in the sun on the dock and was enamored with the fish. He spent a long time staring at the fish in the lake wondering what they were! He also did quite a bit of retrieving in the lake. There was ample outside space for him to dry off before coming inside. We totally understand the owners wish to not have dogs use the bathroom on the lawn as our own back lawn is very difficult to keep healthy grass! Personally I strongly dislike when anyone allows their dog to use the bathroom on our front lawn at home. It was not a problem at all to take our dog for a short walk to use the bathroom. We were happy to oblige! Bobby and Molly are gracious and responsive hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. Bobby returned later in the week to check the chemicals in the hot tub and make sure it was still clean for us. This year the cottage got some new windows in the living room! We had a few chilly nights and used the wood stove. It was very cozy and relaxing to curl up on the couch with the fire lit and watch Netflix (on the TV that worked just fine). The wifi was very fast and reliable. As far as recommendations, I would recommend Sea Well seafood in Stonington for lobster and other fresh catches (the oysters were delicious!). There is a large pot at the cottage that works perfectly for cooking lobster. McQuades grocery in Old Mystic was perfect for groceries and prepared foods. They also have a nice selection of seafood and their customer service is stellar. You should definitely try the salted caramel cookies in their baking section. I’m still drooling over them. Overall you can’t beat the value of this cottage! The views are the best on the lake!
This property is seriously misrepresented. The photos give the appearance of a private cottage that sits alone on a pristine lake. In fact it is surrounded in close proximity with other cabins and trailers and lake bottom near the deck is littered with rusted old license plates. We paid extra for our 2 dogs and had written communication with the owner about our needs and wants to have our dogs with us. We found a written note saying don't let dogs pee on the lawn and meanwhile the neighbors small dogs were running loose and barking and several cats just running loose. The T V didn't work, there were holes in the screens, and worst of all was the sign on the kitchen sink :DONT DRINK THE TAP WATER water was not potable . There was a plastic container in the sink w/ water in it -no label -- and we were not about to drink that either. We had driven for 5 hrs. to get there and stayed long enough to let our dogs urinate near a tree off the property and we and our 2 dogs drove back home -5 more hrs -exhausted and as depressed as was this supposed HOME AWAY we didn't STAY and our overall rating of home away would change if they were able to rectify this experience w/ a refund.
We weren’t really sure what to expect when we pulled onto Long pond road and saw the small farm on the corner. But once we got to the cottage we were pleasantly surprised to find the serenity and peacefulness this place offered. And to be able to bring our dog with us as well made it even better. My wife, daughter and I stayed here for a week and we had a very relaxing yet event filled vacation. Being only 10 minutes from Mystic we were not hard pressed to keep ourselves entertained. Whether it was deep sea fishing, Mystic Aquarium and Old Mystic Village, finding the best lobster roll in Noank or just hanging at the cottage, there was never a dull moment. Molly and Bobby were very responsive to any inquiries we had and provided great service during our stay. The Cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed to make it feel like our home away from home. Our only complaint was that the screened in porch wasn’t completely screened in. There were some holes in the screening which allowed the bugs to get in when you were trying to escape them at night. But the fly swatter helped to get rid of them in no time. Otherwise the place was great and comes highly recommended for anyone looking to spend some time in the Ledyard/Mystic area. We didn’t end up going but another great feature is that Foxwoods Resort Casino is only 5 minutes away from the Cottage. Hope to come back and visit again.
