The Mackinaw House is an opportunity to find peace, tranquility, joy and adventure. With a view of one of the world’s most beautiful bridges, and Mackinaw Island which is majestically set between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas our home is a perfect vacation destination. Nestled in Northern Michigan, the Mackinaw House is a safe and charming location for your next visit to the shores of the Straits of Mackinac.
The Mackinaw House is a two story structure with an interior decorated with family heirlooms and paneling made from native species of wood. The first floor is inviting and calming with one bed room, a mud room including a washer and dryer, a full kitchen and dining room, a small den, and a full bathroom. The Mackinaw House is a getaway, a true oasis away from the rat race, with stunning sunrises and a palette of colors at sunset.
The second floor has a rustic feel with log walls in the family room, two bedrooms and a second bathroom. The walls in the bedrooms are a combination of light cheery colors and knotty pine wood. The family room has a television, couch, and an additional dining room table and hutch. There is a very small kitchenette in the back of the family room. The Mackinaw House was built with our own hands with the intention of creating a lake house with that “welcome home” feel. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

In the fall, take the color tour through the “tunnel of trees” or enjoy spectacular scenery in the Upper Peninsula, an easy drive across the mighty Mackinac Bridge. There’s nothing quite like the sound of bugling elks during mating season at Pigeon River or the mysterious call of the loon on a quiet lake. It’s all here! The waterfront is rocky so bring your water shoes. The water levels are up this year so we can't guarantee a sandy beach.
Absolutely lovely place to stay with a very beautiful view of Lake Huron! Our family enjoyed staying here and loved having fires on the beach looking across to Mackinaw Island and the Mackinaw Bridge lit up at night. Was amazing to drink coffee in the morning catching the sunrise and absorbing the continuous sounds of the waves. The sunsets are beautiful too! The house is cozy and inviting, lots of windows to look out at the lake and has all your needs! Big enough for your family to space out and plenty of tables to play board games or cards. It was clean and felt homey. We will definitely stay again! Thanks for a wonderful stay there for our first time in Michigan!! ❤️
Right on the water. Tremendous veiw. Yard was a little messy.
Nice place to relax
This was an absolutely beautiful house, just as described and as the pictures show! Our family loved the stay (my kids didn't want to leave haha). Being right on the water and the view of Mackinaw island and the bridge was phenomenal. We didn't need anything with our stay but when we did speak with the property manager was really quick to respond.
We were looking to stay in the Mackinaw area so this place was perfect! Secluded but close by.
This property was perfect for our family get a way. We spent 1 day on the island and the other days playing games & sitting around the fire. It was perfect. Only downfall was…we have a family of 6 & a toddler and we were only able to find 5 towels & 2 washclothes. We made due though.
I don't believe there's a way to be, or get, more relaxed than at this property. Beautiful scenery, no disruptions, peace and quiet with views of the Mackinac Bridge all while you get to sit by the lake and watch the waves roll in. Plenty of games and movies to entertain kids, or for rainy days. Close to shopping and the ferry to Mackinac Island. It was perfect. The homeowners have made sure that the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and utensils. All of the beds were comfortable. Everything was clean. It was just a really nice place to stay and get reacquainted with our extended family.
Could have more dish towels and paper towels
Great location. Great view. House was clean and was a good size. Would definitely stay here again.
The home was great, the location was even better, however the place could have been cleaner and without broken dirty furniture. I would stay there again if these things were improved.
Recommend this property. Great beach with a view of islands and bridge.
My mom, aunt and I stayed for 4 nights and had a beautiful time. There is a lot to see and do in the area, the house is spacious with a fantastic backyard right on the lake!
It was so fun to stay at this house. We loved the lake right out the back door and the view of the bridge. It was a blast!
Loved being on the lake with lots to do close by.
This is a beautiful place, location was excellent and the owner & property manager is great to work with. I would recommend an on-site vacuum to use, as we like to clean up after ourselves. I would highly recommend this rental, great family memories. Thank you. Ann & Steve
This quaint little home was cute as it could be. Loved the back sunroom with its many couches and the view from the firepit on the beach was amazing! We enjoyed swimming and just relaxing in the unusually warm weather in late September this year. You need water shoes to trek the rocky water and parking was a bit tight, but we loved it! It is high on our list of places to return to on our frequent trips home.
The location snd view were fabulous. The house is in poor repair and deceiving from photos. Not particularly clean spiders and cobwebs. Drains clogged.
The house was well stocked with all the essentials and then some. Without A/C in the house we brought our own fans, but had we not, there were plenty of fans there at our disposal. Plenty of room for three families to have their own space to lay their heads at night. The beach was great! Beware that if you want to go into Lake Huron, you should bring water shoes as the lake bottom is ALL rocks, but the water is quite nice. Views of Mackinac island and the Bridge to the U.P. we’re always available. The only complaint our group had was about the three season porch. When we were inside, we usually spent out time our time out in the three season porch. There are plenty of windows to help catch a breeze and keep the place cool. HOWEVER, we were disappointed to find that maybe only half of the windows had screens on them. Our stay was great and we would absolutely stay here again, but would like to see all the windows have screens for next time.
We enjoyed our stay and loved being by the water. We would highly recommend this cottage.
This summer cottage is perfectly located. Beautiful views of the islands and bridge!
The home has such sweet charm which made our time there so relaxing. Loved sitting outside and enjoying the lake
The home was exactly what we needed for a wonderful vacation on the Lake. The waters were beautiful and everything was close for shopping and restaurants. We had everything we needed in the home, with peaceful nights, and cool lake breezes. The fire pit right on the lake was also spectacular. I would definitely recommend this home and we would like to come back! Thank you!
Place was very nice, great size for 2 couples maybe even 3 to have their own space. Fire pit right on the beach (with great views of Mackinac Island and bridge) was a fan favorite. Close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough away it that it was quite and secluded. The only thing I would change would be having more screens in the sun room to open things up and really enjoy the sounds of the lake.
Listing was accurate. Loved the house and property. Exceptionally clean and roomy. Location was perfect, close to the boat docks and right on the beach for nightly fires. Highly recommend.
An amazing weekend and we were all very happy with the property!
