Lovely property and outstanding view! Needs a little TLC and there were some pop/stink bugs in the house but harmless. Would happily stay there again!

This was one of my favorite stays away from home. The place was full of rustic charm and hospitality while providing a beautiful scenery, a relaxing atmosphere, and fun and adventure right in your own front yard. A great little getaway, and yet close to many day trip adventures. This questionnaire may have only received 4/5 stars due to the questions asked, but my actual stay receives 5/5 stars… it was just what we needed!

We stayed from aug 2-5. Quiet loved the back porch, rocking chairs. My husband and girl fished from the dock and shore. Caught a couple of little fish and the tree a lot. the lakehouse was cozy. Does need some updates, especially the bathroom. Mold on the ceiling amd caulk of tub. Its a little hard getting in and out of tub, but we managed. Part of the shower head didn't seem to work, my husbamd couldn't figure it out either and he can work anything. The shower faucet also drips, which is a pet peeve of mine and drives me insane. Lots of duck tape patch work around the house also. Other than those small things which would be simple fixes, it was great. We did not use the boat or kayaks as this property is close to the dam and my husband refused to allow us in the water. The row boat was left seats up and was filled with water and sludge, so my husband didn't want to deal with that either. Make sure you drive super slow as the ruts in the gravel road are horrible. Awd and 4wd are best, as you have to back in and out of the driveway and it is on an incline. Angilos pizza of verona does not have good pizza. Try their subs or fish, thats what the locals were eating..wish we had known. we also ate at boonedocks which was pretty good and we hit dave and busters. Great location to the ark..which we found expensive and boring, we did love the virtual reality at the ark, not included in your ticket. however we enjoyed the creation museum and the planetarium also not included.

Loved the setting! The lake was amazing and the kayaks were so much fun! It rained almost the entire time we were there but it did stop long enough for us to get some time on the lake. Be sure to follow the directions you are sent and you won’t have any trouble finding it. Very warm and cozy.

This was a lovely little (2 bedroom) cottage…perfect for fishing and relaxing! Love the rocking chairs on the deck overlooking the lake. We didn’t have time to fish or kayak as we were there to see the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. The VRBO was very comfy…great sofas inside. Had a visit daily from Roxy the dog. Sweet. Will return.

This property may be okay for young families, but not for us as senior citizens. Unfortunately, the way the vrbo system works, we don't get location details until payment is submitted. As we found out, the may be a detour comment from the owner's check-in instructions was actually a main road closure, so we had only one way in and out. Beyond that, the gravel trail leading into the place was partially washed out to the point we felt unsafe, especially if trying to navigate at night. The cabin itself smelled musty and dank, per my wife's sensitivities. For these reasons, we stayed only one night (of 12 nights booked) and advised the owner of the things mentioned above. We have plenty of photos of vrbo wants to see them. Again unfortunately, the owner has chosen profit over customer satisfaction - choosing to keep the entire rental amount, rather than any form of concession. We recognize the vrbo's disclaimer policy when it comes to owner-renter agreements. After six straight years of using vrbo, this year is probably our last.

This is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the lakeview. It is nicely decorated, with a well equipped kitchen. Four women stayed there comfortably. My granddaughters loved the luxurious shower snd the free kayaks. I loved just sitting on the deck, and looking at the peaceful water. Though I live less than an hour away, it was a real vacation for me. We will definitely be back. Granny of Cold Spring,Ky.

It may seem like you aren't at the right place, or that youre driving thru someone's yard, but once we got to the house, we had the best time. The directions were perfect, and the house was clean, and had everything we needed to have a great trip!

Everything went well. The property is nice. Inside the cottage is nice. Everything went very well. The only thing my wife and l found to be an issue and it may not be for other people but going in and out of the driveway it’s a big challenge and we did not look forward to it every time we had to go out and come back. Otherwise, it was a really nice stay on the property.

Really cute place but could use a little TLC. There's a little book for visitors to write in, their experience about their stay, and going back as far as 2022 the SAME complaints are still being written. Mainly the master bedroom mattress, and the TV in the living room needs to be replaced. Could just put bedroom TV In living room... easy fix. I mean, you're probably not visiting to watch TV, but we stayed a week and so enjoy movies at night. Also, the dogs barking... all around you! Pretty much every morning. NOT the owners fault, but really sucks trying to enjoy the peace and quiet that they are shooting for here. For the amount we paid for the week, these things corrected would have made our review a five star!I could go on with more trivial changes but I won't. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the visits from one of the resident dogs named Roxy was a bit annoying at first, but we quickly realized she was very sweet and just wanted to chill with us!Kayaking was fun and we did a little fishing but didn't catch anything. Porch was nice to sit on and just take in the beauty of it all, until the barking starts lolOh and the dead tree kind of blocks an open view of the water... cut it down!Over all, really nice experience and Chris was BEYOND gracious and kind.

Lake house was clean and cozy. Supplied with things that you didn't realize that you forgot. Very peaceful and quiet. Right on the lake, which had great fishing. While fishing one night, three beavers swam right past me. Saw otters playing twice. Just a quiet, peaceful, great fishing place.

Pros: -The lake house was in a very scenic spot right on the lake, with use of kayaks included. My kids had a wonderful time kayaking and fishing. -The beds were comfortable.-The owner was nice and communicated well.-The shower had a nice shower head and plenty of hot water. Cons:-The house desperately needs some updating.-The carpet was dirty and felt clammy to the touch. Bring house slippers if staying here.-The sheets on the larger bed were dirty and had very clearly not been changed from the previous guests, which unfortunately we didn’t discover until the next morning. Thankfully, the owner was very apologetic and changed the sheets while we were out for the afternoon.-Only one of the cooking pans was in good of shape enough to use. The place could use a couple more new ones. -When my kids were kayaking near the side of the lake, some people began target practice (with guns) very close to where they were. We wouldn’t stay here again due to the issues we encountered, but the place was in a truly beautiful little setting and the owner seemed nice.

The stay was ok for our family. Outside needs TLC. Example porch had chipped paint everywhere and stringed lanterns had lights burned out. Equipment was very used and weathered. Needed replacing. Road to property needed maintenance and properties around cabin were run down. Also turned on ancient heater in living room and bugs kept flying out. My fussy 65 year old mother was not comfortable. The rest of us thought it was OK.

We were pleased with the privacy, how you provided map of the lake and easy access to kayaks. The huge yard with lots of seating was a plus, I was able to watch grandson roam and explore. Chris had good communication and available by phone. The Bonus was the early check-in, this is a selling point. No waiting around when your family is ready to rest. Thank you Chris and we'll see you again.EARLY check-in was the BONUS

Comfy cottage. Secluded setting with very little activity on the lake. Close enough to towns if you want to go out for a meal or pickup a few things. Only left the cottage 3 times in a week long stay as kayaking, fishing, campfires, and porch-sitting were exactly what we all needed.

We enjoyed our stay. The lake was very nice and peaceful. It was great having the kayaks available to use and enough for everyone in our family of 5. The house was small and a little older but was clean and cozy. We loved the porch and spent a lot of time there or kayaking. I personally could have used a little more cook wear in the kitchen, but we primarily cook rather than eating out. Overall we would stay here again if in the area.
