Baypoint — A Family Cottage on Lake Joseph

Once discovered, never forgotten.

Baypoint sits on Green's Bay, a sheltered, south-facing pocket of Lake Joseph — one of the three big lakes that have defined Muskoka summers for over a century. The view stretches long down the lake, dotted with islands that catch the morning light and frame the sunsets. The water is shallow and warm at the shoreline, with a true sand bottom that walks out gently for thirty feet before it gets deep. It is the kind of waterfront that lets a two-year-old wade in alongside a grandparent, and that lets a confident swimmer push off the dock into clear, deep lake.

This is a cottage built for families. Three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms across 2,000 square feet, sleeping six comfortably. A great room that opens to a screened-in sun porch facing the water, where breakfast lasts as long as the conversation. A full kitchen with everything a family needs to cook real meals — not just reheat them. A wood-burning fireplace for the cool nights that make a Muskoka summer feel like a Muskoka summer. Bell Fibre internet at 500+ Mbps, because the days of unplugging completely are over and that is fine.

Outside, a fixed dock runs into the bay with two kayaks, a canoe, and life jackets ready to go. A large deck wraps the lake-facing side of the cottage with room for the whole family at dinner. A fire pit waits for the marshmallows. Beach chairs and beach towels are stocked. The cottage, the deck, the dock, the porch — every space points the same direction, which is toward the water.

Baypoint sits minutes from some of Muskoka's best golf courses, including Rocky Crest right on Lake Joseph. Bass Lake Roadhouse is six minutes away. The Muskoka Lakes Winery is twenty. Santa's Village is forty-five for the kids who still believe and the parents who love that they still do. For stargazing, the Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve is a thirty-five-minute drive. For groceries and a Saturday morning coffee, Mactier and Port Carling are both close.

This is a cottage that has been loved by every family that has stayed in it — every review, perfect. We rent it from June through the first week of September. We are particular about who we host because we are particular about who has loved it.

Bring the family. Bring the kids. Bring the dog after a quick conversation with us. Leave the rest behind.

The pictures didn't do this place justice. Me and my family had a great time here. We rented a boat and 2 sea doos from a marina less than 5 minutes away and had tons of room for them on the dock. Everything was clean and there were no bad surprises.

The house was just as described in the posting on VRBO. It’s was very clean and the lake front property was nothing short of amazing. The communication with the owner was great and our stay was perfect. It’s a beautiful waterfront cottage. Everything was exactly as described! We would rent this again 100 percent.

Family of 4 with two young kids. Proximity to water, shallow entry, dock, cleanliness, host responsiveness, and cottage amenities were all excellent. Could not have asked for better. Not a single thing to complain about. Thank you Baypoint!

We had a fantastic week at Baypoint with our family of four! The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable, clean and well maintained. It is evident that the owners take great care of the property. The cottage is very spacious and has every possible eating area you could hope for – lovely Muskoka room, outdoor dining table on the porch, formal dining room and breakfast nook! We spent most nights eating outside where we enjoyed the most breathtaking view of Lake Joseph. The location of the cottage is perfect on a quiet bay and we frequently used the canoe, kayaks and paddle boards provided on the dock. We wished we could have stayed longer and definitely hope to be back - thank you for a wonderful week!

This was our third vacation home rental in the Muskoka Lakes region and everyone in our family of five adults ranked it at the top. The experience of staying at Baypoint Landing truly lived up to the caption in the VRBO listing Once Discovered, Never Forgotten. The bedrooms were comfortable and beautifully presented, and the availability of three bathrooms was very convenient. The well equipped kitchen with its bay window view of the dock and lake made even cleaning the dishes feel good. We appreciated the multiple areas with dining tables, next to the kitchen, in the large dining room, in the screened sunroom or on the patio. The amazing centerpiece, the 'great room' is so inviting and entices everyone to socialize, rain or shine, even ignoring the big screen TV in favor of playing games. Last but not least, the immediate lakeside location with shallow water access next to the extensive dock rounds everything off very nicely. We were happy to have the use of kayaks, paddle board and canoe. And thanks to the large area of shallow water at the shoreline, our three year old dog overcame his shyness of water, went in and started swimming for the first time in his life. The week went bye too quickly, and we hope we can come back again next year.
