Drive through our beautiful woods to our secluded rustic cabin on an eastern back bay of Lake Ontario. Located just outside of historic Sackets Harbor New York.
This has been our casual family 'camp' for over 40 years. It has 300' of waterfront with a 15' dock. Bring your medium to small size boat, or we have a canoe and kayak. You can row out to the surrounding islands to swim.
We love to bird watch here. Many Blue Herons, ducks and sometimes a pair of bald eagles are nesting on the property. We have a pair of white swans that come back very year. Kids will love to fish off the dock. If you have a boat, it is a great place to fish.
Enjoy the village of Sackets Harbor The War of 1812 was fought here and there are many historical buildings to wander by in town. There are also many top quality restaurants in the village and a wonderful brewery. The kids can go to Old Macdonalds Farm where they can pet and feed animals. Golf courses are close by. Canada is 45 minutes away!

We love to stay here in October for our annual girlfriend gathering (since 2009). It is perfect for a laid back weekend of fire place warmth, relaxation, commraderie, enjoying the changing leaves, heron, overlooking black river bay and more. We usually don't venture into town but it is a nice quaint area that is laden with history and bird watching opportunities If we went earlier in the season we would definitely enjoy the kayaks, canoes and beautiful deck.
At the end of the road you find a rustic lake side cabin/home. The access to the water by kayak and canoe provided a daily activity of quiet paddling and fishing in the recesses at the head of Lake Ontario. Any imperfection is made up with by the relaxing setting. The history and charm of Sackets Harbor was topped only by the wood fired pizzas and tasty brews found there. Proximity to Henderson Harbor and the St Lawrence River provided several lake life excursions where the family lounged in the lee of Six Town Point and fished for smallmouth or pedaled to Cape Vincent. We had no idea we were exploring a proposed marine sanctuary but understand why. We'd recommend this for anyone wanting to try out lake life.
The cottage is in a really secluded area in the woods and is perhaps 1950’s or 60’s vintage. It retains that vintage - the cottage has had minimal if any major upgrades. That said, it was clean and suited our needs. We were out exploring the area daily and were “home” early morning and evenings. For us the biggest thing was the deck and enjoying great weather and watching all that was happening on the water. Beautiful early mornings with the morning sun! I wished all week that the trees and brush were trimmed so hanging tree limbs were not blocking half the available view of the bay. Also looked forward to fishing from the dock or possibly using the canoe but conditions in front of the cottage were not conducive for it because of the large amount of marsh grass all around. Overall a good place to stay and explore the 1000 Islands area!
Been enjoying this spot with long time friends since 2009. Life required a break for a few years but we are thrilled to be back.
I rented the house for a vacation with my daughter and her family, but unfortunately my wife and I couldn’t make it, BUT, my daughter said the house was great, plenty of room and decorated beautiful - and loved the movie selections with the kids. A lot to do and see in the area. From her report I’d definitely recommend this house!
Good property for a family get together. Stairs can be rather dangerous. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook
Pretty house, really cool interior design, plenty of space for multiple families. Definitely a rugged, all natural bayside experience. You have no choice but to get in touch with nature with the lack of cell service, wifi and people in general. Sacketts harbor was really close and easily accessible. Fish were around but not biting in august.... I would go back just to kayak around the Dexter wildlife preserve. Only reason I gave 4/5 was the sulfur smell of the water was very apparent (they are transparent about this in the listing), and the property was natural, just lacking general upkeep for certain things, but not a dealbreaker.
The cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet retreat on the water in which we could take the whole family including our dog. It was located close to attractions, restaurants and a beach. Recommended.
The perfect amount of quiet serenity with easy access to great food and a top notch marina. Great host communication - very responsive and accommodating?!
It’s a lovely home with beautiful views of Muskelunge bay and the wildlife there. Spacious deck and living room. It’s clean and well equipped. The biggest problem was the sulfur water. They provide a water cooler for drinking water.
