Description: Built designed & decorated by a sculptor & painter, 'la Bolina' is a unique, romantic holiday experience. It is a semidetached house that has been carefully designed by the same owner to maximise privacy to both properties.
Every detail of the house has been treated as art, from the polished concrete, wood & pebble inlaid floors to the hand furbished stainless steel & glass shower. Much of the furniture & all of the sculpture & painting is made by theartists. The house is situated in the foothills of the Almijara mountains that form part of the Sierra Nevada range. It looks across the olive groves & vineyards to Frigiliana a whitewashed mountain village & Nerja on the Mediterranean coast. Malaga airport is less than an hour away, & the city of Granada is only 100 km from Nerja. There is an unusually shaped black infinity pool that takes in the 360º breath-taking views. A stone barbecue overlooks the private swimming pool & the ever changing outdoor contemporary sculpture.

For those guests interested in sharing their holiday experience with friends or family, the neighbouring house is el Morusco property 6725879.

Situation: la Bolina' sits in the steep foothills of the Almijara mountain nature reserve & between three villages, Torrox, Frigiliana & Nerja. The roads are windy & narrow, with magnificent views of both mountains & sea. Granada, offering the Alhambra Moorish Palace & the Sierra Nevada ski resort is an hour & a half drive away. Cordoba & Seville two hours. We are also close enough to Morocco to be able to spend a day in Tangiers.

Frigiliana: Frigiliana is a beautiful whitewashed mountain village 6 km. from the coastal town Nerja. The old town dates back to the Phoenicians, the narrow cobbled streets wind between white terraced Moorish houses. The village sits on the edge of a mountain reserve that boasts many wonderful walks. Both towns offer numerous restaurants, bars & other entertainments.

Winter: From October through April there is always a possibility of rain, but now the chance of it is so remote, that we have come to welcome it when it does. It is a perfect time of year for those who enjoy the mountains, walking or exploring the surrounding towns & cities. Granada’s Alhambra, Seville & Cordoba loose the unbearable heat of summer & you have the tourist areas basically to your selves. Christmas & New Year are normally sunny & all of the restaurants are open, although most work with reservation on the festive nights. The Spanish celebrate New Year on the street, it begins with spectacular firework displays in every city, town & village & festivity continues well into the next morning. Spring here begins in February with the almond blossom & yellow clover that line the roads. It’s a good time to visit the little villages around our area & in the Alpujarra mountains south of Granada. If you are into skiing, the Sierra Nevada is famous for its slopes & is less than 2 hours away.

My husband and I spent a week at la Bolina in early September. It was wonderful - the house is well-kept, quirky, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The art in and around the house is incredible and we loved 'discovering' new pieces each day during our stay (I think I came home with about 100 photos just of the art)! The directions to the house were absolutely vital in helping our journey in the hire car from Malaga airport and it's no joke to say we'd have been hopelessly lost without them - in fact, we DID get hopelessly lost one day out and about coming home from Frigiliana, but that's entirely on us! Rob, Maggie & Timsam were always on hand if we needed anything and are fantastic hosts. The area around la Bolina is beautiful, peaceful and interesting: we visited Frigiliana, Nerja and Acebuchal during our stay, as well as enjoying time just cooking and relaxing at the house. The week went all-too quickly and we'll definitely be back!

The last 12 months for us has been terrible culminating in the loss of two parents passing within 2 weeks of each other. This place was just what we needed to rest and relax, take in the views and the total tranquility of the place. Having the beautiful pool on hot days was perfect. Seriously the photos would never do it justice and in reality the views are stunning. The drive up to the property is challenging but if you take your time and drive carefully it’s very achievable even in a small Fiat 500?. The personal art of the talented owner’s throughout the property and gardens was really special and made the feel even more luxurious. Communication with the owners was great and they were on hand although we didn’t need anything. In summary a stunning place and would highly recommend.

We stayed in this beautiful house for five nights and we truly enjoyed the space, the view, the pool and the art works. This is a unique property and we felt privileged to be there. The morning light is beautiful and the view is spectacular.

My wife and I went to La Bolina for our late honeymoon (Corona and then kids delayed everything a bit...). It is really an amzing scenery. The view from the pool is fantastic. The house itself has everything that you need. We cooked almost every night at home. Timsam is also a great host and was very responsive. There was a problem with the internet but it was fixed really quickly. I would def. recommend to stay here. Maybe in a few years we will come back for a break from family life ;-)

Just what the doctor ordered. Peace quiet, total tranquility and a great pool to boot. The views were spectacular always changing as the sun moved over the 24hours. Sunset on the mountains was impressive. The host struck a real healthy balance of care and attention, pool maintenance, clean bedding for week 2, without being ever present,, lovely balance we thought. Excellent Villa and location

La Bolina is a cozy house with a very unique character. We loved the sculptures and artworkes throughout the house and garden. The view from the garden is superb and makes you want to hang out in the garden to read, chill, and relax and end the day with a barbecue. It would be great to have additional shaded seating options in the garden, such as on the terrace or within the garden itself, as the sun can be quite intense during the day, even in March. We enjoyed Frigiliana, and our trips to Malaga, the Alhambra, and the park El Torcal. We wouldn't necessarily recommend Torrox and Nerja since they're very crowded and touristy (which Frigiliana is, too, but in a nicer way). Overall, we enjoyed our stay in La Bolina very much. We did one week of vacation and one week of workation, and were also very happy with the internet connection. Thank you for having us at this beautiful place!
