Jackdaw Cottage is a wonderful traditional honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottage with two bedrooms and sleeping space for five guests, in Blockley.

Perched on a quiet lane, close to the heart of the beautiful village of Blockley, rests this double-fronted, traditional honey-coloured Cotswold stone cottage, Jackdaw Cottage. The cottage is the perfect base for a family or group of friends who are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and spend some time in an idyllic countryside setting in the Cotswolds.Be greeted by the pretty courtyard garden bordered by shrubs and flowers, that has a sweet picnic bench. The front door opens into the smart farmhouse-style kitchen/diner where you can listen to your favourite songs through the Bluetooth speaker whilst you put your culinary skills to the test using the electric oven and gas hob, and make use of the dishwasher for cleaning up! Gather with your loved ones around the large pine dining table to indulge in your heart-warming meal and why not uncork a bottle of wine to toast to a wonderful holiday that lies before you! Have a relaxing evening in the beautiful sitting room whilst watching a film on the TV, as the warmth from the woodburning stove creates a lovely atmosphere in the air, or get some peace and quiet in the inviting snug room that sits adjacent to the sitting room which houses a large single sofa bed that is available on request. Climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find two well-appointed bedrooms, the master contains a super-king-size bed (zip/link, can be twin on request), and a king-size room, both perfect for having a restful night. Note: A sofa bed is available upon request at £50 per booking, allowing the property to sleep a total of 5.

Region: Visitors to the Cotswolds have long treasured memories of charming towns and villages built from the famous honey-coloured stone, it now boasts a thriving community of contemporary artists working from studios and shops throughout the area.

Town: An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

    Charming cottage in a great location. Jackdaw cottage was very well stocked with all you need for a holiday. It was warm and the wood burning stove was great to have in the autumn. We loved Blockley, the cafe and the walks from the cottage. We would be happy to return for another visit.
