Stayed May 25, 2026Very clean and well decorated. We did have a hard time with altitude sickness. Where we live we are at 656’ above sea level and in 2 days we were in a cottage at 7,320 plus feet. My wife and I are in our early 70’s and, after arriving on a Monday, we did not start to come around until Friday and were never clear of all the symptoms for the two weeks of our stay. On several days we had to drive to the south of Colorado Springs and a little beyond to reach an atmosphere where we could spend several hours breathing better at 5300ft. Black Bear Restaurant in Fountain, CO. Great place to eat. Bring a big appetite. My wife and I are spoiled by the much larger open air concept houses located in the Phoenix, AZ area which we are able to rent at about the same price. Liked the kitchen and the living room and became used to the bedrooms and baths. My wife is diabetic with some neuropathy and loses depth perception somewhat in the dark. So, the little unexpected downhill section in the minuscule hallway transitioning from the bed/bath area to the living room/kitchen/dining area was a problem for us during our stay. Had to leave a light on during the night for the times she needed to go to the kitchen during the night. All in all, not a bad little place. The altitude transition was the main problem. I was a very vocal, monumental grouch from Monday until Friday afternoon while my wife suffered in silence. Just be prepared for the altitude.

Stayed May 6, 2026Cottage is charming. Has every amenity imaginable. Peaceful. Private. Secure. Fell in love with Colorado Springs and there’s so much to do. Our host Mark. was readily available if needed. We extremely enjoyed our stay there. And an added perk is it’s handicap accessible as I said a charming cottage a must see to enjoy.

Stayed Dec 20, 2025This little cottage was immaculate and silent, away from the road, with stunning sunrises across the meadow, complete with deer one morning. Mark was attentive. I can’t imagine any other amenity that would have improved my stay. I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed Jul 26, 2025We stayed at this property a handful of years ago. When we decided to visit Colorado Springs again this summer, we were excited to find the cottage was available. Mark and Angela are fabulous hosts and there added touches are much appreciated and highly valued.

Stayed Sep 25, 2024Plan was for Son & Granddaughter to stay with wife & I. I ended up being hospitalized with heart attack $ steak. Missed the whole week. Son, Daughter & 2 granddaughters stayed in our place. Between airfare, rental car & VRBO non-refundable we lost out on $3k. Family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. Probably never get another chance with our aging & increasing health issues we will never get to experience this wonderful property.

Stayed Jul 26, 2024Beautiful property and a lovely updated clean and well decorated home. Very comfortable and had lots of utensils and other items in the kitchen so we could easily cook which we like to do. Adorable cafes around the corner, but a little removed from the city hub a bub which was really nice coming from orlando florida. Loved the peace and quiet. Had a deer come up to our glass door it was so beautiful. The main bedroom does get a bit hot in the morning, but it was a good way to wake up and not sleep too long. Lots of wonderful amenities and close to the sites like garden of the gods was only twenty minutes. Wish there was shade for the car to park under. We had been parking under a sliver of shade of a tree but the owners came home on our last day and drove a railroad spike so we couldn't do that anymore. I found that odd and unsettling. The trip was definitely more comfortable because they were away for most of it. Their home is directly across from the cottage so it was a bit weird after that feeling like they were watching us. There was nothing in front of the tree but dirt so there was no reason for that and it soured the end of our perfect trip a bit.

Stayed Aug 29, 2024The Hummingbird Guest Cottage was perfect for the 3 of us for our 5 night stay while attending Parents Weekend at USAFA. The cottage was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the hosts, Mark & Angela were quick to respond to messages and very friendly. We enjoyed seeing deer and wild turkey on the property as well. Would stay there again!
