Stayed Aug 24, 2023The house had a nice rustic feeling. The fireplace with wood was available for us to use. The kitchen had everything we wanted. It is very close to Volcano National Park and one can even come back during day to rest for couple of hours and head back. There couple of nice restaurants/ Thai food truck nearby. The house is close to street but off the highway. So there is some vehicle noise during day but very peaceful at night. This was not a bother as we were out for most of day time. Taressa was very good at communicating throughout.

Stayed Feb 3, 20262 friends looking for a place with 2 beds, this not only fit the bill but was more than we needed though nice to have! 2 full bathrooms, large dining table, fully equipped kitchen, apple tv, fireplace, heated beds and heaters available. Perfect place that is minutes from the park. Owners were extremely attentive and house is cared for with love. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Stayed Sep 16, 2025A charming cottage and historically significant home at the center of Volcano Village. The home was spotless and the hosts checked in regularly. Kilauea erupted early one morning and the glow from the driveway was unforgettable. It was a memorable stay and will plan on staying again!

Stayed Sep 26, 2025We love staying here (it’s our third time). It is so neat to spend a few days in a house that is a piece of Hawaii’s history itself and being immersed in this amazing natural environment. And the volcano’s final morning pyrotechnics were welcome and amazing. It’s an historic wooden house in excellent condition and all the necessities for sleeping, cooking, and watching Kilauea streaming on the tv were in great shape. Easy to take care of (and to clean up on the way out). Prompt communication with the host before and after the visit. We’ll come again. Mahalo.

Stayed Mar 19, 2025We had a wonderful stay at La Cappana. The historic cabin is in a fantastic location in Volcano town right near the Kilauea Lodge with its fantastic restaurant and the Swap Meet at the community center, and a quick and easy drive to the best of Volcano National Park. Even though it is so close to everything Volcano has to offer, the property feels very private with lots of native plants and trees. We enjoyed watching all the birds with our morning coffees We had an added bonus of visiting during an eruption period and got to see the largest eruption in decades. Since the cabin was so close to the park, we went back to watch the eruption 5 times in the 28 hour eruption period, glad for the convenience of the cabin. It was so exciting! The cabin was well laid out, with 3 nice private bedrooms, two bathrooms (one with an adorable claw-foot soaking tub!), a well-stocked kitchen, and multiple eating areas (small table in the kitchen, larger dining table, and a covered outdoor picnic table). The temperatures in Volcano do get cold and being a historic cabin, it has the traditional Hawaiian single wall (uninsulated) construction with no central heating, but the wood stove, space heaters, plentiful blankets, and heated mattress pads kept us nice and cozy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the comfortable, welcoming, peaceful and quiet cabin. Since we live on nearby Oahu, we are hoping to come back again soon! Mahalo for sharing your beautiful retreat with us!

Stayed Feb 19, 2025The highlight was seeing Kilaeua erupting. You have to check the USGS cam regularly cause it can start and stop any time. So amazing to just run up the road to see spouting lava. Be sure to read the old guestbook entries they go back a hundred years.”It’s prettier here than Indiana.” HA! The wood stove was a life saver cause it can get chilly but what’s better than a cup of coffe and a wood fire? Love this place

Stayed Oct 16, 2024We absolutely loved the historic home. The blazing wood stove took the chill off the night air. The three bedrooms worked great for our family of 5. The close proximity to Volcano National Park was fantastic.

Stayed Jun 8, 2024The home is exactly as portrayed - it’s a throwback to a simpler time! Wood paneling, cozy furnishings, and an abundance of doilies that might make you think of a grandparent’s home. My teenage girls didn’t love the aesthetic, but it suited me just fine. Beds were comfy and kitchen and laundry access were big helps.

Stayed May 19, 2024Beautiful, classic Hawaiian style plantation house! Roomy, spotless, supremely comfortable. It felt timelessand made us feel connected to the place and its history. The grounds are beautiful. The location could not be better for access to the town of Volcano and Volcanoes National Park. This is a wonderful find!
