Heronlea cottage is located in a wildlife rich location with Red Deer seen every day. The cottage is comfortable with upside down living which gives lovely views over the garden, fields and woods. There is a need in some areas of the cottage for some updating. The Dunoon area has some lovely pubs with good food, the Isle of Bute can be visited via a ferry within 40 minutes. Benmore Botanical Garden is well worth a visit.

The cottage location is brilliant, accessed via a private drive leading to the cottage and the owner's house. The surrounding grounds are exceptional and there is a nature walk taking 45-60 minutes through woodland which is accessed from within the grounds. We travelled to Argyll via Western Ferries from Gourock to Hunter's Quay - a 20 minute crossing. Heronlea is less than 10 minutes drive and depending on the road you take you can drive without going through Dunoon centre or via Dunoon where you pass two supermarkets - Morrisons and the Co-op. One day was particularly wet so we drove to Inverary Castle on Loch Fyne. Otherwise we stayed local and the information you are sent when booking lists some excellent places eg Benmore Botanic Gardens. Would highly recommend.

The two of us spent a week exploring this beautiful part of Scotland. Heronlea was a comfortable, peaceful base in beautiful grounds. Having the lounge and main dining area upstairs took full advantage of the local views. Downstairs was always cool in the hot weather which made the location of the bedrooms ideal. However, the shower room, although a good size, always seemed damp. Having a wash basin in each bedroom was very useful and maybe there could be a small towel rail installed by the basin for drying off the towel. Generally hooks and waste paper bins seemed to be in short supply. The kitchen was modern and fully equipped with everything you could want. It was an ideal spot for couples, friends or even a family to explore the local area.

Our week at Heronlea was cold for early September and we were very pleased to have easy to operate heating. The owners are next door if you need them. The added bonus for this property was the deer visiting the large garden.

Perfectly located, quiet and peaceful surroundings. Kevin and Kate were great hosts, checking we had everything we needed. Lovely walks nearby and amenities within a short distance. An additional treat were the horses, goats, geese, ducks and visiting deer.

Heronlea Cottage is perfectly situated for a tour of the Hihglands. It is a comfortable, very clean cottage in a charming valley surrounded by forests. There are horses, goats and very friendly ducks. Kate and Kevin, our hosts, could not have have been nicer. They are so thoughtful, making sure our every need was met. We so enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed with a full kitchen with all the amenities and a delightful huge living room with lots of light. It was truely relaxing and we are so grateful to our lovely hosts for taking such good care of us. Highly recommended!
