Property and home was perfect for our stay. 4 boys enjoyed the creek even in the cold. Home is beautifully decorated and very cozy. Fireplace in main living area was amazing. Only slight complaint would be the musky mothball smell throughout. You get used to it and would not prevent us from coming back, but definitely noticeable if you are sensitive to smells. Some charcoal deposits would easily absorb all that.
The DISH TV was not working properly. We survived! One of the wicker chairs was in need of repair. Overall, our stay was great.
We own two VRBO listings on the beaches of South Walton County, Florida and we needed a long weekend off to see the Mountains of North Carolina. We loved the photos of this cabin, it's location at Cashiers and when we arrived we fell in love with the place! If I could purchase this cabin I would! Thank you for sharing this gem of the mountains, it was so perfect and comfortable. Rustic yet decorated just like we would want to live in the mountains! Elegant yet with the mountain flair. Hope we can book it for next fall and return again, with the good Lord's help and in His will. Thanks again, Nina
Very relaxing. Enjoyed: nice property and neighborhood, local walking trails, actual bold stream, location.
Once we found it we were delighted with property. It had ample supplies , high end furnishings , local charm decor and a wonderful environment . The river sounds were amazing and the views were beautiful. Neighbors warned of the bears seen recently in the area so we were very careful when hiking and exploring. We enjoyed all of the amenities and would have loved to stay longer. We will definitely return. The directions to the property provided were insufficient and we spent over an hour trying different paths as the office was closed. Finally a stranger gave us guidelines to fine wild river road. Google was wrong. I suggest a map amd signage use be provided for after closing arrivals. The Emwrgency number was helpful and used because the gate code was not working. After all of that we were pleasantly surprised with the property and another reviewer was correct - it is much better than the photos! Thank you !
Very private cabin within a short drive of Cashiers. There is a beautiful stream out back which can be seen and, more importantly, heard from the porch. The cabin itself is very comfortable and can easily accommodate 2 families. It was a great stay! We enjoyed it immensely!
Nice Cabin need screens fixed and there were ants in the kitchen but overall we would rent the property again
First, let me say that the cabin and location are absolutely beautiful. However, we experienced some major issues and inconveniences. A couple of hours after check-in we noticed that there was a gas like smell in the cabin and no hot water. Over a few hours the gas smell intensified and we really started to worry. We tried finding an emergency contact from the property management company but only had the general number and email to which no one responded. I sent several emails and left messages that went unanswered. Finally, we called the fire department who told us that we needed to open all windows and doors and go outside. After standing in the cold with an infant the fire department showed up to tell us that the smell was from a propane tank which ran out of gas and was releasing residual fumes. They turned everything off and told us to call the property manager the next day. Later that evening we noticed a water leak in one of the bathrooms and another bathroom had a non working toilet. The leak got to the point where there was a stream water of water running down the wall and we couldn’t flush the toilet. The next day we finally got in touch with the property management company and they assured us they would fix everything and accommodates us by offering one night refund. It took nearly all day for the propane tank to be refilled and eventually a maintenance person showed up to fix the leak and toilet. The toilet on the second floor was never fixed and didn’t work the entire time we were there. In terms of the leak, maintenance had to put a hole in the wall to temporarily fix the leak. The remaining smell from the wet wall was overwhelming and consumed the entire bathroom and surrounding areas. Finally, the cabin really needs a thorough cleaning because we found bugs and spider webs everywhere. Overall it was obviously an unexpected series of events but my main issue is that there was no emergency contact information from the property management company and the fact the the propane company told us that the reason there was no gas is because there was an unpaid balance. It’s unfortunate that we had so many issues because the location and cabin are really nice and I think we would have enjoyed our stay otherwise.
Such a wonderful stay in a peaceful retreat. Great location and the peaceful sound of the stream running in the backyard.
Great location. The rooms were gorgeous! The down stairs room offered a large TV. This was perfect for older kids. I loved sitting in the bay window and reading. Outside offered a beautiful trail! Loved our Christmas here.
