Mountain vacations are all about letting the wonders of nature melt away our stress and give us a fresh perspective. Happinest gives you the stress-free environment you're looking for, enabling you to relax in comfort, surrounded by lush vegetation.
Happinest's spacious, deck lets you soak in the beauty all around you – OR soak your sore muscles in a sparkling hot tub under the sky. Gorgeous both day and night! The open upper deck includes the hot tub, rocking chairs, a gas grill and outdoor dining set.
The home's upper level provides the main living space, with an open floorplan, cathedral ceilings and lots of windows, so you can appreciate the home's natural setting from both inside and out. The kitchen is sunny and airy, with plenty of space to move around and all the tools and accessories you need for convenient home-cooked family meals or lively entertaining with friends. The roomy living area includes a beautiful stone fireplace with gas logs, brand new sofas and a large flatscreen TV with a satellite feed and a DVD player.
On the main level you'll find the master bedroom with a king-sized bed and private bath with a walk-in shower. The two additional bedrooms feature a queen-sized bed and two twins, respectively. These bedrooms share a full bath with a tub/shower combo.
When you're ready to get out and explore, you'll love Happinest's convenient location, with easy access to 221, which is the main road into West Jefferson, one of the most charming, old-fashioned small towns you've ever visited, only 15 minutes away. From 221 you can also get directly to 421, which takes you into Boone, Blowing Rock or the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here you really get the best of both worlds – a home convenient to all the sights and amenities you're looking forward to experiencing, and still secluded enough to provide the peace and privacy you need.
Location, Location, Location
Happinest is easily accessible to and from 221, which takes you to West Jefferson to the north, or Boone, Blowing Rock or the Blue Ridge Parkway to the south. In 10 minutes you can be at West Jefferson's gorgeous, challenging and beautifully manicured golf course, Mountain Aire. Drive another 5 minutes and you're in West Jefferson's quaint downtown. Stroll down the main street to browse through shops, antique stores and art galleries.
Boone and Blowing Rock offer additional dining, shopping and event options, as well as the campus of Appalachian State, and the lovely Bass Lake, near the Moses Cone manor home.
Two natural attractions you don't want to miss here in the NC High Country are the New River and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Parkway is one of the most scenic drives in America, offering some of the country's most awe-inspiring photo opps, as well as wonderful hiking and biking trails. When you're ready for invigorating water adventures, spend the day enjoying the New River by kayak, canoe or inner tube.
For the bicycle enthusiast in the family, Happinest is only a couple minutes from the scenic Railroad Grade Road – a popular, picturesque bike route meandering along the river from Fleetwood to Todd.
If you're visiting in the summer, your activity options are endless, from golf, zip-lines, horseback riding, hiking, biking, hiking, mining for gems, or assortment of water/river adventures. Fall foliage is indescribably gorgeous. Come in the winter, too, for just the snow, or sledding, snowboarding, skating and skiing at area resorts.
Dogs Welcome! Must be well behaved, leash/crate trained, 2 years or older and 45lbs or less. $50 / per pet. 2 dog limit.

We really enjoyed the off the beaten path feel of this place. It was a quick drive over to the various ski mountains and over to Boone for shopping and restaurants. Our favorite part of the house was the large basement with ping pong table, card tables and an extremely comfortable couch. We brought our own board games but there were also a lot of games available to use. We truly felt at home the entire stay and cooked our own meals in the well stocked kitchen. The hot tub was also a nice reprieve after snowboarding all day! Our only complaint (and a very small one at that) is we thought we would have more privacy here but there is one house directly behind the rental property that also shares an access road to the firepit area. We would still return in the future knowing this but would not bring along our stranger-reactive pet as she was easily agitated seeing the neighbors outside most of the day. Thanks again for hosting us! We had a blast.
I have stayed here several times. Clean. Did not smell bad as others have mentioned. Locating is perfect for visiting our family.
First I must say the pictures do not do justice for this beautiful home!! It is nestled in the trees with a wrap around deck to enjoy all the beauty that surrounds you. There are other homes close by but the tress provided much privacy. We came to enjoy the Halloween Ghost Train at Tweetsie and it was amazing!!! This was my sisters first trip to the mountains and she fell in love. The home is about 20 minutes from West Jefferson, Boone and a little farther down is Blowing Rock. My only complaint is we couldn’t stay longer!! The home is stocked with all you need to enjoy a night in including ping pong!! We hope to make this an annual trip and hope to stay here again!!!!!
Enjoyed our stay.
My family and I booked our spring break trip to North Carolina. We wanted to have that secluded mountain feel along with being close to town. This cabin was a perfect combination of both. We enjoyed the fireplace, hot tub and ping pong table daily. Thank you for making our experience wonderful. The Rice Family
Nice place. Fully equipped. Loved the hot tub. Wish there was more parking at top of the steep driveway but maybe that is to be expected at a mountain property.
My sisters and I stayed in this quiet home for a weekend. Very close to downtown West Jefferson and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s even 7 minutes from a winery! Loved the place and would definitely stay again.
We loved staying in this house with our son and his family. It was so cool & comfortable after the heat and humidity of Alabama & DC. There was plenty of room for sleeping, cooking, & eating for our group of six. My son & his wife had to work some while here, and the internet was very good for doing that, We especially enjoyed the rocking chairs on the deck and the beautiful scenery. Our grandchildren loved the ping pong table and the other games. Thank you for making this home available for a wonderful week of vacation.
We enjoyed our time at the home, the photos were an accurate description of the property. We were disappointed at the misleading fees VRBO and the management company ended up charging compared to what they listed the property for so just be aware when booking.
We enjoyed our stay but there were a few things that need improving. As soon as we walked into the cabin, it smelled as if it had been smoked in and shut up, the house had cobwebs in the master bathroom and dirt on the dressers. It could have been cleaned better in my opinion. The day we checked out the fire detector in the bedroom on the left kept going off. I would suggest a door stopper behind the front door as well. It was sufficient for the amount of time we stayed and it was cozy feeling.
