Stayed Jul 16, 2023What a beautiful small authentic Spanish village. Juan is very friendly and helpful and so were the people in the village. We liked the small pubs and restaurants which are on walking distance. We also used the public pool, which is big, refreshing and beautifully situated. We visited Ronda and for the beach and lunch we went to Estepona and Marbella. The house is clean, well decorated and the airco helpt us stay cool! The terrace is a nice place for a bbq dinner, reading a book under the grapes, swimming and tanning at the sun beds. We had a great stay! Thank you Juan for having us.

Stayed Jun 26, 2023What a lovely place to stay in the Ronda region. With a fabulous welcome from Juan, we enjoyed 5 days in La Casa La Abuela. Spotlessly clean and well equipped our main considerations were which terrace to sit on (depending on your desire for sun or shade), which view to look at and whether it was time for another dip in the pool. My highlight was the very comfortable main bedroom with great air con that opens out onto a very cool terrace and great views. Stroll around the village streets, pause for a drink/food in the plaza and soak up the friendly atmosphere. Come equipped but there is a shop selling some items. Thank you Juan for such a great stay.

Stayed Aug 1, 2019We met Juan in the square in Igualeja and he showed us round. It was a nice welcome and a great start to a wonderful week in his lovely house in quiet surroundings. The house was better than expected and had everything we could dream of. A fantastic view of the mountains on one side of the house and the cozy town of Igualeja on the other side of the house. The house is located in beautiful surroundings close to Ronda and offers everything needed for a wonderful holiday. If you need a quiet stay in authentic surroundings we highly recommend La Abuela. Thanks to Juan for a wonderful holiday.

Stayed Mar 26, 2018We stayed at La Abuela for about 4 weeks in March-April 2018 and had a great time. Juan met us in the village centre and showed us around the house - as others have said he was a good host, he left a bottle of his own olive oil, some fresh bread from the shop and a bottle of excellent wine as a welcome present, and responded quickly if we needed some advice or help. You CAN drive a car up the lane to the house, but you need to be very awareof the width of your car and good on the clutch as it is steep and narrow - we drove up to unload the luggage but after that left the car in Blas Infante and walked to the house. The house is on multiple levels and there are several different patios/balconies to choose from, depending on time of day and the desire to be in or out of the sun! It is a peaceful sanctuary amidst stunning and dramatic scenery of the Serrania de Ronda, and Igualeja is a hillside Pueblo blanco at the very start of the Rio Genal. If you want a taste of real rural Andalusia, you could do no better - but learn a bit of Spanish before you arrive! The shop is 10 metres away, opens at all sorts of interesting times, sells all sorts of unexpected items, and the people there are a delight (even if you speak very little Spanish). There are several bars around the village serving tapas and beer/wine - take your pick. A great place for walking, wildlife, and if more adventurous, sailing on the coast (try Estepona), paragliding (try Algodonales) and on/off road cycling. Beautiful Ronda is only 25 mins away, and we also visited Granada, Sevilla and Cordoba, all of which are day trips.

Stayed Aug 25, 2017The owner kindly met us to take us to the property as we couldn't get the car through the narrow traditional streets. He gave us a bottle of his own olive oil and freshly baked bread. The house was fabulous and the location was amazing. We loved the village. We greatly enjoyed the festa which was on during our stay. On Saturday night the music went on from 10pm to 8am and children and grandmothers were dancing all night. We had a wonderful time - I'm sure the village is tranquil for the rest of the year but during our stay it was jumping!

Stayed Aug 4, 2017Juan and his partner are helpful and reliable hosts. We felt very secure in their care, when arranging and arriving for our holiday. The house is lovely, comfortable and spacious. The views from the many sitting areas are unbelievable and magical! The village is very friendly with a great little shop just a few metres from the house. There are also a couple of good tapas bars and a cafe (in the square) which are well worth visiting and good value. We had a wonderful holiday at Juan's house! Just go and enjoy it!

Stayed Jun 13, 2017We had a wonderful stay in Casa la Abuela. It was everything we hoped for: A very comfortable house in a small, quiet village. Inside there is a nice (cool) seating area, a modern kitchen that has everything you need, 3 bedrooms with comfortable beds, and 2 bathrooms (1 with a shower and 1 with a bath). Plenty of fresh linen and towels (also for the pool) were provided. We couldn’t have asked for more! And as nice as the inside of the house is, it’s the outside that really makes this a great place to stay. Multiple areas where you can sit, both in the shade and in the sun and there is a fantastic pool. Absolutely wonderful! With temperatures around 35 degrees we we’re so happy we had the pool to cool down in. From the terrace/balcony you have a beautiful view of the mountains. Just a few doors down there is a small shop where you can get fresh bread and some basics (e.g. water, beer, soft drinks, some fruit and vegetables, ice creams, toiletries). For more extensive grocery shopping we went to Ronda (about a 25 minute drive). Juan, the owner, gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived, and whenever we contacted him with questions/requests during our stay, he helped us out very quickly. Also prior to our arrival and when we booked the accommodation he responded very quickly and was very helpful. All in all a great house and we definitely recommend it!
